I highly recommend Bill Stevens Karate. My 6 year old son has been attending classes since the summer, and we've been extremely pleased. The instructors are skilled, patient, and create a positive learning environment. The classes effectively balance discipline with fun, keeping the kids engaged while instilling valuable lessons in respect and focus.

My 6-year--old son has been attending classes at Bill Stevens Karate for over 1 year now. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made. We noticed a significant change in his self-confidence, focus, and his ability to listen and follow directions. Mr. Stevens has a unique ability to make the students feel comfortable while also keeping them in line. My son has learned many valuable lessons at the dojo, and I love watching each class.

I have known Mr. Bill Stevens, basically my whole life. When I began my martial career around 1983, “Billy” was a green belt & was one of the older kids I admired. To say he was one of the best students in our school, would not have been a stretch. And I KNEW, I wanted to be like that guy!!! Fast forward. I was given a job as an assistant martial arts instructor at another martial arts school. Through my continued training, I again met up with Mr. Stevens, as we trained together, briefly, in Brazilian jujitsu. Watching him grapple, once again, I said to myself, “I wanna be like THAT guy!” As a life-long martial artist, I can honestly & legitimately state, Mr. Bill Stevens is a phenomenal martial artist. He’s the martial artist that other martial artists want to be! When I had my children, there was no choice needed - it is an HONOR to have Mr. Stevens teach my children. When we think of martial arts, karate, Tae Kwon Do, most people think about fighting. And while that is a significant part of it, it is only a portion. What a child gets when they attend martial arts training with Mr. Bill Stevens are the intangibles - the qualities some parents struggle to teach their kids - respect, discipline, commitment, self esteem. The physicality - punching, kicking, jumping, is an outstanding way for the kids to stay fit. But that is the wrapping paper on the outside of the gift. The gift is a well-adjusted, disciplined, respectful child that listens, understands & pays attention. Now…. Mr. Stevens does not possess a magic wand…. You will need to do your part to help your child. But the framework is provided! The intangible qualities taught at Mr. Stevens Karate transcend into other activities, home life & school. I don’t know how else to try to convince you to try Mr. Stevens Karate. Knowing what I have learned, teaching what I have learned, experiencing the Who’s Who of martial artist in New Jersey & Bergen County, with no disrespect, Mr. Bill Stevens was the only choice for my children & myself. If you were ever curious about martial arts training, if your child is struggling in school or can’t find that activity they love, or if they simply want to train to be a better person, World Martial Arts Hall of Famer & Amazing Person, Mr. Bill Stevens is your place to start. I am the mother of Dylan and Matthew and my children love Karate. The environment adapts to the needs of each child. they are just starting out and I know it is a long road that they are going to enjoy doing.

Excellent approach to teaching. Mr Stevens' focus is not only on teaching self defense but also instilling decline, confidence, public speaking and leadership skills in the kids. My 6yr old son love the classes and in the last 2 yrs have seen improved focus and confidence. Mr Stevens is able to keep kids focused, engaged and every now and then include fun activities to keep them motivated. Highly recommend this place.

My son loves coming to class and is learning a lot about karate and the monthly life skills. I love that they talk about things like self-esteem and communication skills in class!
