Wow, what a great experience! We are a family of 5 with 3 teenagers aged 16, 14, and 12. We splurged and did the overnight canyoneering/camping experience. Our first day was spent in a true slot canyon in the Irish canyons, and the second day was in a wider canyon in the area named Hogwarts with larger rappels and grander views. It was awesome to experience both kinds of canyons. We have frequently "car camped" in our lives, so the overnight was perfect for us. They provided all of the tents, bedding, food, chairs, etc. We flew in from another state so it was awesome they had everything we needed. And, our campsite was unforgettable with expansive views of the desert and the nearby Henry Mountains. Our guide for the two days was Kai. She was AWESOME! She was great to have as a member of our family for two days. She took great care of us, made sure we felt safe (we certainly did), and her cooking was great. Lunch both days, dinner, and breakfast. So good. Folks, this company is awesome. The communication from the owner Melissa before the trip was spectacular. They only take private groups (no mixing people together) so you will always have personal service. This was one of our favorite family vacation highlights of all-time that we will not forget. Thanks to Kai and the whole Desert Highlights team for a great adventure.

I did a solo canyoneering and hiking morning with Kai and could not have been happier! I had never rappelled before and her calm, confidence and simple but thorough instructions made me completely comfortable. And the hike itself was one that had been recommended by several people, including a park ranger and it did not disappoint. I recommend anyone wanting to explore beyond the national parks to book and adventure with Desert Highlights!

We did the zigzag canyon with Ed and this was a highlight of our time in Moab. He was so encouraging and well versed in the landscape and history of the area. He showed us some rock art while we were out hiking around that was very cool. He really taught us what to do, explained all the steps well and gave a lot of encouragement and gentle corrections as we went. Would love to come back and do more tours with desert highlights. They also have wonderful swag in their shop, some of which sales go to local charities, really a wonderful company to support !

Our experience with Desert Highlights was fantastic beginning to end. We were a group of four looking for an adventurous trip doing canyoneering (our first times). It started with talking to Melissa on the phone who helped answer questions and got a feel for what we were looking for. She followed up our call via email with a ton of information and helped us pick the perfect excursion. Recommend talking to them to pick the right one for your group, they are super helpful. The day of the adventure was super convenient. We had a private group since it was four of us and we met our tour guide, Jake. We rode in a private vehicle to the starting point where we did a super intense hike with stunning views, scrambling, and even some rock climbing maneuvers (it was so cool and what we asked for!). Jake was the best. He was cool to talk to, very knowledgeable, and supportive and helped us feel totally safe throughout the entire trip. He even took amazing pictures and gave ski recommendations for Utah for our next visit! Cannot recommend Desert Highlights enough! Will absolutely book with them again. Thank you DH!

My partner and I booked Desert Highlights for our first ever canyoneering trip and LOVED the entire experience!! This was by far our favorite adventure all week!! Jake was our guide and he is both knowledgeable and fun. I would ONLY book through them and would recommend them to anyone! They did a great job of matching our adventure level with the excursion we went on. We have climbing/hiking experience but none on repelling. We did the Rock of Ages trip and it took about 6 hours. The pools we had to swim/wade through were chilly and it was a great time! I couldn’t recommend Desert Highlights enough!!!

Where do I even start? This company was top notch, start to finish. Our two-day private guided adventure was nothing short of spectacular! Jake was a wealth of knowledge, and great company as well. Safety always came first, but fun was a close second! We cowboy-camped in 20-degree weather, and Jake was always there with every bit of kit we could need to stay warm and comfortable, plus made some mean fajitas by headlamp so we could refuel after our strenuous first day. This was our first canyoneering experience, but it won't be our last! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping create another lasting memory for our family.

My adult son and I did the Medieval chamber rappel and hike with Kiera on 10/17. It was unbelievable. Kiera radiated competence and inspired confidence. I'm a 55-year-old granny with no previous experience, but she made it easy. Also, the hike out from Morning Glory arch was one of our prettiest hikes during our week in Moab.

I have hired plenty of guides elsewhere and I was seriously impressed with this company. Having a private trip is a huge deal. It allows the guide to customize the outing to your group and just makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We explained our experience/comfort level and they planned the perfect trip for us! And yet their prices were more than fair, especially when compared to other companies in the area. Our guide, Herb, was fantastic. He had 10+ years of experienced and was full of interesting knowledge about the area. He even took the time to teach us a few skills we were interested in. Plus, it seems like this company really tries to take care of their staff and have a positive impact on the community. We had such an awesome experience on our full-day, private canyoneering trip, and I would gladly do another trip with them!
