I came across Capt. Andy last year because the guide we choose was book the following day. Capt. Andy filled in for the captain. Capt. Andy was the first boat to the dock. He’s boat was clean, rods were rigged and ready. This guy was ready. No waiting or watching someone tie up rigs. We are out before anyone to get to the area the fish were at for the last few weeks. About 20 minutes of fishing we had already landed 1 45” drum. It wasn’t long and we had at least 5 boats fishing the same flat. Our Young Capt. stopped what he was doing and said, “guys my gut is saying move. But I know the fish are here. I think these boats will scare them off.” We all agreed to trust your gut! We literally drove for 30 minutes clear across the river. We knew that we only had about 2 hours left to fish. To say it was risky would be an understatement. When we got to the next spot without a boat in sight. We could smell the bait and the fish everywhere. Within 20 minutes and someone 🙄wanting to catch the pesky bluefish- which he refers to as “Squirrel hunting” we had landed 4 fish all ranging between 44”-47”. His mid play audible worked out to be the move that made us realize The amount of confidence he has ,and the amount of knowledge he has for this fish and the waters. Since that trip, we have book 6 more trips with him. We duck hunted with him in the winter and we limited out quickly. Not just sea ducks, but a full limit of lesser and blue bills. We were literally looking for one bird at 8:00 to fill our limit. So I’ll tell anyone who is thinking about booking him. Take his advice, "Trust your gut!” He’s that guide your looking for. -Cut bait

Captain Bates (Andy) was fantastic. My main objective was to learn the most effective techniques and things unique to fishing the Beaufort area. Mission accomplished! Andy was a great teacher of and ambassador to the sport of fishing. He is extremely knowledgeable, and is very professional with a great and fun personality. And of course we put plenty of fish in the boat....all were released unharmed. I highly recommend Andy when you are in the area. I gained a friend for sure.

Captain Andy is a fantastic guide. Patient friendly and extremely good at his job. His attention to detail was amazing. I had an unexperienced angler with me and Andy was outstanding with them. He made our first trip comfortable and we caught fish all day. Bull reds! Second trip we had bad weather and he still kept us in fish all day while keeping us safe and dry. All the reviews are accurate!! My son and I went out with Capt Andy a few days ago and had a wonderful day on the water. It was obvious from the beginning that he was in to win it and wanted us to have a trip that would leave lasting memories!! His knowledge of the fishery and ability to explain and teach what he was seeing/looking for is worth its weight in gold!! He was easy to talk to and a lot of fun to be around. Full day trip with Andy was absolutely amazing...we created some great family memories. Andy did a great job of getting us on fish early and often! Boat was very clean and well suited for the trip...the shaded awning was an extra bonus during the heat of the day. Best of all, Andy is great with kids and did an excellent job working with my 10 year old daughter. Great trip and will definitely book again.

Spent the day on the water with Andy in pretty rough conditions and had a great day fishing for reds. Andy's ability to communicate honestly with me on what the day might hold was excellent. Wind was blowing to hard to fish where he wanted so he told us this up front and that he had another spot that he hadn't been to in awhile and it turned out to be wonderful. Andy is a great guide and guy. He will tailor the trip to your desire and make the best of a the rough conditions on the water.

Capt. Bates is a top-shelf guide. He is knowledgeable, attentive, and fun to be around. We had a problem initially that he addressed professionally, demonstrating exceptional customer service. Hired him for two days of fishing; caught fish both days, but one of them was exceptional. His knowledge of the Neuse River and Carver's Creek was very impressive. I strongly recommend his services.

We had a great time with Captain Bates. He was extremely patient with a few of us who were pretty much fishing for the first time, as well as with our son who has done a lot of fishing. Andy was working hard to get everyone hooked up, and we had a blast. I would definitely use him again.
