I cannot recommend this place enough. We happened to stop here otw from West Palm to Texas. Before we even got there, they were more than accommodating. I had called ahead to see if they had any outdoor seating because we were traveling with our pugs. They put a table outside just for us! Anyway, I’m not exaggerating when I say that the food and drinks were the best I’ve had since moving to Florida 4 years ago. My husband and I shared the short ribs, blue cheese salad, and fried cauliflower. Literally the best we have ever had. Please support this business. You won’t be disappointed!!!

My wife and I stopped in to Blue Gill Quality Food in Gainesville Florida on a Friday evening for dinner. There was no wait and we were seated immediately although there were customers scattered about in the restaurant and at the bar, it was not crowded by any means. The service was great, the food was awesome, and the drinks were good. For an appetizer we ordered the blue cheese chips. For entrées we ordered the fish special and the Blue Gill burger. The food was brought out in a timely manner and the appetizer and entrées had a good time spacing between them. They have a great selection of well drinks, wine, and local beers. I ordered the coffee stout that was on tap and it was delicious. Next time you’re in Gainesville you should definitely check out a Blue Gill Quality Food.

So, my husband and I have been wanting to try this place, and finally we went here for my birthday. My sister was in town, so we were excited to try a new place. When we were sat, I noticed on the menu that a 12% service charge would be included in our bill for the cooks in the back. Honestly, I was ready to get up and walk out. Yall hands down deserve this service fee. We decided to just see if we would ever come back. I'll say this, we all were glad that we did not get up and walk out. This was the best, hottest, freshest food we have ever had at a restaurant. John from the kitchen came out, and i was so impressed with how everything tasted i could not thank him enough! Faith, our waitress was on top of our drinks and knew that menu and was very helpful on what we ordered. Liz, the manager, came to our table, and I did give her the spill on how we almost left but glad we didn't. We ordered the fried okra, and when it's in season, ya'll have to go!!! I had the shrimp and grits and another wow!! My husband got the fried chicken, and he was in shock at how amazing it was. My sister ordered the salmon, and it was another wow. For dessert, we ordered the peach bourbon fried pie and lemon poppy seed, something full of flavor. You all don't need to sleep on this place.

Now this was seriously a meal of choice. It has been a very long time since I seen or tasted a Caesar salad so presentational and robust in flavor that tears were brought to my eyes again. I like salads I even love salads. Caesars always been my favorite. Chicago, 19 years old, that's the last time I've had one this delicious 😋 the filet mignon was perfect in every way, only to be rivaled by the signature smashed potatoes. How could any type of potato hold up so strongly against my love for the cow. I worship the cow... As long as it gets in my belly. Trust me, spend a little extra money and check this place out for dinner some night soon. It is definitely worth it!!!

I hosted a bridal shower luncheon in The Barn room. Very spacious room with separate bathroom served the purpose I was hoping for!! Liz was very pleasant and accommodating through the entire planning process. Now let's get into the food!! EVERYONE in our party raved over their food and how good it was. There were 2 people that ordered the shrimp & grits that returned their meal for something else, but Alex was more than accommodating with that. I definitely recommend you try them out! Food, drinks and service was on point! Can't wait to go back!

I visited for lunch and there was no crowd so we were seated and waited on immediately. The service was good and the restaurant was clean with a nice vibe to it. To start, we tried the crab and scallop cakes which were just ok. For entrees, I ordered the fried chicken dinner and my friend had the fried shrimp dinner. Between us we had grits, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. We were not impressed with any of the side dishes. The greens had a unsettling sweetness to them, the macaroni and cheese was flavorless and the grits were too thick. The chicken was pretty good and the shrimp was good. The dining experience was good but the food was not my idea of “southern comfort”. I’d come back but I would probably just try the seafood.

Came here to celebrate some dear friends birthdays. Food was amazing! Best friend pickles I've ever had, hands down. Tried the sea scallops off the chalkboard menu, and we all shared our dishes amongst each other. Will definitely be back, was too full for dessert tonight!

Our waitress Jasmine was very pleasant and attentive. Alex also checked in on our table several times and was friendly. I had the pork rind fried chicken, mac and cheese, and greens. The food tasted delicious and was fresh. We tried the strawberry shortcake at Alex's suggestion, and oh my goodness! It was soo good. The restaurant was clean and had a relaxing vibe. We will absolutely be back again. It's definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Randomly stopped in for lunch with the family. We were seated instantly. The food was amazing from the appetizer to the meal. My two picky kids enjoyed every bite. The service was just as good as the food. If you happen to be in Gainesville, I recommend stopping in and having a meal. An added plus the sweet tea was amazing as well.

Other than being confused as to where to park, I have only great things to say about this place. FYI, parking for retail is above the restaurant, at no charge. Bar has amazing craft drink selections. The beer on tap is the perfect temp. The 5 people that ate enjoyed everything. App of fried pickles was bountiful and fantastic. All entrees were fantastic. They have a funny and lots of daily specials on the board by the door. I typically don't have dessert but decided on the fries chocolate pie ... which is more of a pastry, nuanced. Our server convinced me to have the ice cream ... I'd go back just for that vanilla ice cream. Phenomenal. Best meal I've had in a long time and the staff was great, personable, and genuine. There is a 12% dine-in charge. If that isn't an auto-grat, it should be clearer what it's for. Loved this place. Will go back 100%.

This place was so amazing! Best watermelon margarita I've ever had! Carol said they make and use fresh watermelon juice and you could totally tell! The calamari was delicious! The shrimp and grits was phenomenal! I wish I lived closer so I could come every week!

We used "The Barn" at Blue Gill for a retirement party this past weekend and everything was perfect! The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic, the party room was lovely, and the communication with the Blue Gill team was excellent throughout the planning process. Our favorite foods/drinks were the fish dip, pimento cheese plate, margaritas, shrimp and grits, pork rind fried chicken, and the strawberry shortcake! I HIGHLY recommend Blue Gill for your next event!

I kept wanting to visit this place after going to the gym next door. It seemed like so many people loved well it sucked. I took my mom there who is handicapped and it felt like we were out of place. The waitress was inattentive sort of like she wasn’t expecting a tip. They also have a 12% service charge which was fine. The food was boring and bland. We had fried shrimp and collards.

This is a great place to visit. The food was cooked perfectly, we had shrimp and grits and the fish and chips. The drinks were amazing and the ice cream chocolate pie was a fantastic dessert. Definitely coming back!

The J Hillis Miller Health Center Gift Shop, Inc., a non-profit organization, scheduled its annual business meeting and luncheon in "The Barn" in November, after years of preparing "pot luck" luncheons ourselves or having our luncheon catered in our business meeting space. We were most pleased with the guidance provided by Liz for our menu selections, especially the flexibility Blue Gill Quality Foods offers for gluten-free and vegetarian options. We arrived with everything arranged as planned. We were able to hold our business meeting followed by a delicious lunch that was served efficiently and quietly. We had time to relax and enjoy the occasion without having to do the work ourselves. We appreciated Liz's prompt communication and attention to details in planning and carrying out this event.

Quaint but modern environment with friendly staff and interesting, eclectic options. We were late afternoon, so we missed both the lunch and dinner crowds, having the place pretty much to ourselves but for some patrons at the bar. Our waitress was on the ball and our food was delivered in a timely manner. All of it was very good. Not in Gainesville often but worth a return visit.

True quality food! The fish tacos were so tasty and the salad was very fresh, including the dressing which was really delicious and definitely made from scratch!

First time visit and the food was truly amazing. Pork rind fried chicken was crispy and flavorful with a delicious sauce. Some of the best greens I have ever had. Creamy macaroni and cheese with a huge hunk of cornbread. Had a seasonal margarita that was as pretty as it was tasty. Can’t wait to return.

My family and I just had a late lunch and it was delicious. Our server/bartender Carol was very attentive and knowledgeable, answered all questions and mixed the most awesome cocktails. We will definitely be back; in fact, we’ve been coming since before the pandemic.

To have had Blue Gill cater our wedding was such a delight! Claudine and Bert's expertise exceeded all expectations. Not only were the selections delectable and highly complimented by our guests, the care with which Claudine assisted us through menu and set up suggestions (and more) was immensely appreciated. I highly recommend them for both in-restaurant dining and any catering needs. They set the bar way high, and still managed to surpass it! Will update with photos once we receive them :-)

Me and three of my friends graduated from pharmacy school in May 2022 and Blue Gill hosted us and all our families/friends for a dinner following the ceremony (~30 people). Their manager, Liz, did an amazing job of coordinating with us and working on all the logistics leading up to the event. The staff was accommodating, polite, and provided excellent service. The food was quality, presented in good timing, and the main dishes and appetizers all arrived hot and fresh from the kitchen. They had a fantastic bar and lovely atmosphere. Their space was spotlessly clean and open. We truly appreciated their premier service and how they made our graduation day even more special. Thank you to the Blue Gill Team for all your hard work! We had a lovely time!

Great experience! Celebrated my mother's 80th birthday with family in the private dining area! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! Liz was an absolute joy to work with while planning this event!
