This my first visit and it will definitely not be my last! They have such a lovely open dining area. It is beautifully decorated. The food is truly delicious. And the portion sizes are big! It is served promptly, professionally and hot! The menu prices are much better than other steak houses in the area.

A great little BBQ spot. Passing through on the waybto Las Angeles, we stopped in Santa Maria for the night. The Swiss had excellent food and great staff. I am always a little skeptical of BBQ pork chops because most places.just can't get them right but these were spot on, huge juicy chops well seasoned and cook just right. The ribs and sides were great too !

A great menu with outstanding combinations. As much as I love jalapeño peppers, I’d never experienced bacon-wrapped jalapeños. All the flavor and heat of the peppers blended with bacon and sour cream. Awesome. For early on a Sunday evening, the bar had a good group of customers, service was speedy, friendly and courteous. Food was served promptly and the environment was attractive. Conveniently located on north Broadway with ample parking.

The steaks are always great! but this time I had baby back ribs and there was more than enough to take some home. Party of 7, everyone enjoyed their meal.

This goes against popular belief, however I wasn't a fan. The service was excellent, that wasn't my problem, my problem was the actual food. Granted I could have gone on an off night, but I won't be trying it again. We made the 1 hour drive, because so many people were raving about "The Swiss"! Ok, so here goes my food experience at The Swiss. I ordered the Filet Mignon and Lobster tail $65. My steak came over cooked and the lobster tail was also over done and chewy. The flavor on my overcooked steak was good, but because of the over cook it had a grainy texture. Not what a filet should be, but My husband who ordered the 10oz Filet Mignon was bland, no seasoning, but cooked perfect. We ordered the Grilled Artichoke for an appetizer and that was completely water logged. The sauce was yummy. The Santa Maria style beans were bland and the garlic bread was smashed and flavorless and the fettuccine alfredo was like a brick. So all in all I wasn't happy. Like I said it could have been an off night, but taking the chance on another 1 hour drive to try it a second time will not be happening.

I grew up on the Central Coast and had never heard of this restaurant! Was very surprised at how much I liked it. Decent prices and my steak was cooked perfectly. My 14oz top sirloin came with beans, salsa, bread and a side for $35. Only complaint was the service and the order they bring stuff out in….they were friendly but not super on top of things and really had a hard time with our onion ring orders. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent meal. I rarely give 5 stars for food, but this place was awesome. Local sourced and owned. The beef ribs were meaty and flavorful. Salads were cold with chilled forks. Service was good. Price was very reasonable. Highly recommended if you're in the Santa Maria area.

Great first visit, rare order of Ribeye was med. rare, med. rare Ribeye was medium, and both had wonderful taste still.. Baby back ribs were more of a St Louis cut which made them a little fatty.. Great bartender, and the wait staff was very good. It's worth another try for sure.

I really was more by the food. It was well worth the price because they had big portion sizes. The service was also really quick and the servers were helpful!

The best pork chops anywhere! The portion size of the pork chops are insane. It is served with applesauce which I don’t use. If I order to go, I make myself some apple chutney to go with the pork chops. Fantastic!

Eh... it was ok. I think it was a little over hyped from what I was told. Definitely not fancy. My wife and I were the only ones dressed up. The lamb was good but the sliders were awesome. I think they were prime rib.

Restaurant was highly recommend + was the birthday girls request for celebratory dinner. Did not care from service, taste to quality of my dinner. Dinner was with a party of 6 and our table was in the middle of booths and we all felt in the way to other patrons and wait staff. Ladies bathroom clean but small (2 stalls only). Though menu was small there was a variety of bbq to choose from. Found the taste of my baby back ribs flavorless, and very fatty. Chicken Tortilla soup I requested was just ok, portion size tiny bowl/cup when side salads as other option were bigger. Beans mention in all our dinners (4) was the same size as my tiny soup bowl/cup for all of us to share. Others in my party/ group liked their food choices: steak, tri-tip sandwich, child steak bites, cheeseburger, appetizers: mozzarella sticks, potatoe skins (though sour cream was lacking-tiny smear). The price was higher than expected with no early dinner specials (half price). Not a happy experience and highly doubt going back for the food.

Best place for a steak in Santa Maria! They were closed for a while due to arson but now they are open and I am glad! I was so excited to be back and have some sweetbreads and a steak. Unfortunately they did not have sweetbreads when I was there but will be back in a couple of weeks... Hopefully they have them. Great place and atmosphere. Staff is always friendly.

Best steakhouse around. This is my favorite restaurant and I'm glad to see it back open. Lorene is the best, but all the bartenders rock. The maple glazed salmon is amazing.

Loved the menu! Awesome that everything is made in house. Great friendly staff! Brandi, the bartender/serer is a remarkable foodie and she wouldn't work where she was uncomfortable with the management. Good on you Brandi and good on you Swiss Steakhouse 👏 👍

I was staying at the Best Western Inn up the street. The Swiss was recommended to me by the desk clerk. I was not disappointed. I would recommend that you get there early. It's a popular place with locals. I had the ravioli dinner.

First time eating at the Swiss. I gotta say the food was great. Our server was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was that soda was flat and had no carbonation.

  • 3/5 Nolan M. 1 year ago on Google
Neat place, but pretty expensive for food that is at most just good and not great. Tough yellow squash, boring scalloped potatoes, and a definitely not medium rare steak. That and the dining hall is way too small for the amount of people they jammed in there. The servers were great though. And in the end I still had a good time.

I came here with my relatives and most of my family members to eat dinner here celebrating my cousin's graduation ceremony at the Cal Poly college at San Luis Obispo that started on Sunday 6/12/2022 around the noon time. We ate our dinner here and we dined in at the night time starting at 8:30 P.M. on the night of Saturday 6/11/2022. The salsa is very rich and tangy and pairs best with the Mexican entrees, the beans were good when they pair with the garlic bread, tri tip steak, pork chops and lamb chops. I ordered the oak grilled chicken breast salad here and I recommend the garlic bread, the sandwiches, the fries, BBQ ribs, the pork chops, the lamb chops, grilled salmon, grilled artichokes, asparagus, and the different seasoned and flavors of the tri tip steaks here that every dine in customers that come here to eat must try. However and sadly the first and the last time I had eaten here, I had seen no individual dine in customers who ate here and did order the tri tip steak or any type of beef steak here to eat. When I did eat here and dine in with my family, cousins and relatives, I had seen no one that had ordered the tri tip steak or any type of beef steak served here. I had seen mostly dine in customers ordered the pork chops, lamb chops, barbecue items, sandwiches, burgers, fries, seafood, salads, Mexican food, grilled artichokes, grilled asparagus, garlic bread, beans and salsa. (On the night of Saturday 6/11/2022, during dinner time when I visited here, the dine in customers had ordered almost everything on the menu except for the tri tip steak of any type of beef steak served here).

I Love this place...they serve Santa Maria style, oak wood BBQ'd steaks, seafood & many other options. I know people Love Jockos in Nipomo...I do too but I don't love waiting 2hours for a seat on a Thursday night. The Swiss is a local gem that has been here since 1941. Serving dinner house meals that are expertly prepared. If you say you want your streak medium rare...you will get it exactly that way. No having to guess how they will actually cook your meat. A few of our favorite meals: rib eye, top sirloin, sweetbreads (to die for, charred perfectly & served w/salsa) or any entree salad...the burgers are pretty on point as well. We rarely have to wait long for a seat & the service is sweet & efficient. We will always be back!

This place is off the chain. Service was excellent and the atmosphere very warm. The food value was well above the cost and the portions very large. By example, the pork chop meal would feed two adults with left overs. And they were well seasoned, well cooked and delish. Go hungry or with intent to take home!!!!

Always awesome food! But, this time was different. I found this in my hamburger while I was chewing and it seems to be apart of a cleaning brush they use for a grill. Unfortunately as I’m writing this they’re are closed and not responding to my calls as I just got this Togo prefer at 945. Please respond back since I’m not able to eat this. Thank you

My first visit to The Swiss, and I'm a fan. My servers were Sandy and Sonia, and they were awesome! Amazing service and wonderful food. All meat is cut and aged inhouse. The steak fries and onion rings were worth the visit alone. My entre was served with locally sourced Pintoquito Beans... delicious! I went with salad over the soup. Fresh spring mix with a very nice Bleu Cheese dressing. My steak was a perfect medium. The flavor is so good you're not going to want to use any steak sauce on these meats. Definitely a recommend on this one.

I went an ordered my dinner and then ordered my to go order and asked the waitress if the baby back ribs are really baby back and not St. Louis ribs she said the cook stated that they are baby back ribs. Coming home to open my take out box to find St. Louis ribs. This restaurant does not know what there selling. What a waste of 40 dollars down the drain. Will never go back to this restaurant again.

The best dinner we've had in a very long time. My husband loved the pork chops and I loved the new York with scampi! I also highly recommend the zupa tuscano soup and the grilled broccoli and asparagus. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!! Also, the service was amazing!

Ordered to go... Steak bites were way overdone and not even edible. The chicken for my Caesar salad was laying in a puddle of greasiness and had zero flavor. And the broccoli cheddar soup was just disgusting, tasted like dirty broccoli. I am very disappointed in the food for both quality, and taste.

Nov 2022: all the drinks we ordered tasted like flavored water (long island, jalapeno margarita, whiskey sour). We were charged 18% gratuity but we only had 6 adults 1 child. The steaks were ordered medium and medium well, but came out both rare. The filet mignon did taste good and so did the giant pretzel but wasn't a fan of the cheese, it tasted chalky. The server was great.
