Best, freshest seafood from the Gulf and only a 35 minute drive from Dauphin Island! Do not miss the opportunity to go to The Mariner Restaurant in Mobile, AL! We are staying on Dauphin Island and were looking for a nice seafood dinner for our party of 6. NO LUCK on the island as you either needed a reservation at one location, be willing to eat outdoors in the 102* heat index or the restaurants were just plain closed down. My nephew did some searching on Google and found The Mariner Restaurant and we were so glad he did!! The Mariner is wonderful from the ambiance, servers (make sure to ask for Karli if she is available--she is a real peach!), hostesses, bar staff, kitchen staff and everyone else I may have missed. But the real star of the night was the food! Portions are perfect for the price and the seafood fantastic, fresh and straight from the Gulf! We also ordered the fried pickle chips as an appetizer and they were the best, most crispy dill chips I have ever had. I would recommend The Mariner Restaurant 10 times over and we will definitely be going back for another visit!!!! Your visiting friends from Indiana. πŸ₯°

Fantastic place, first time I've been here. It was a retirement party. The servers were very attentive, refilling drinks, refreshing food platters and took care of the cleaning up. Fantastic crew.

Was picking up my girlfriend and parked in the handicap to do so then was asked to move for a paying customer. I have handicap tag and rearview hangers.... only for the owner ( not handicap) to park in it who was obviously drinking on the job . And food is overpriced!

The food here was excellent! Do not go here if you are on a diet or looking for bad food, because this place is seafood done right! Staff was very friendly and it was a great place for the family to sit and visit for a nice long family dinner. Recommend for sure! 5-7-2022 - Stopped in for the second time tonight, and once again the food was excellent. I had the Shrimp Alfredo, and it looked like it was baked before serving. Very good service and enjoyed the meal. Would still highly recommend!

First time at this restaurant. We really loved their grilled snapper and grouper. Gumbo and Grilled shrimp were also very delicious. They served really fast. We enjoyed the outside view. I took one star off for couple of reasons. 1- a lot of mosquitoes that they eat you alive. They had citronella candles if you ask them to light. But I had to go back to my car and take a shower with deep woods OFF Spray. Make sure you are prepared if you like to dine outside 2- House salad was not fresh and key lime pie was not the best. But our server kindly listened to us and offered to bring something else. We thanked and said not necessary. 3- Margarita was a little pricey but we liked it. Overall we were very happy with the service and how delicious were the fish and the shrimp. It is worth to give this restaurant a try, we will go back again.

I used to tell everyone to go check the Grand Mariner out, but not anymore. We had a party of 8 go into the restaurant which only had 2 other tables. Server was nice, Three couples ordered the dinner for two which was 58.00 each set and one separate seafood platter and one crab claw app for the other person. The food took forever and 2 plates were wrong. Several of us worked in restaurants before and know how it can be so we tried to be patient. Finally out of frustration of waiting I asked to speak to a Manager. She spent her time arguing about the time it took. Told me that some of my guest joined late? (we all ordered at one time) Asked if we had a reservation? Really for a table of 8 with 2 other tables? I have never been so embarrassed to have recommended at place to eat. She took 25% off the checks which should have been comped. Come to the table to so called apologize but continued to argue with us about what had happened. Really?? I have Never!!! The customer is wrong in this establishment so if you want to be wrong.....here ya go! I hate to say after years of telling people to come try the Seafood here, I will never again. Oh she said she did not know what was going on. ( I wonder why a manager doesn't know all that commotion is going on. We could see them arguing in the kitchen.) So sad to speak bad about a restaurant that was beloved in the past.

I ate here recently with my brother who had been here several times before but it was my first. Let me say the location is just beautiful. Right on a river with lots of boats docked. It was nice to just sit there on a sunny day and look out as the boats come and go. It was too hot to sit out on the deck but the windows inside are all around so you get a nice view no matter where you sit. The food was very good. I really enjoyed their gumbo and grilled shrimp. Our waitress was very nice. The only reason my overall rating is 4 and not 5 stars is because when I placed my order, I was brought out just the opposite in terms of how I wanted it prepared. The waitress realized it immediately when she came to check on us and I sent it back. She was very apologetic. They brought another meal out the way I ordered it, but by that time, we really couldn't stay much longer. We ended taking the majority of the meal home, which I enjoyed the next day. I do recommend this restaurant for the fact they cook the food the way you like it prepared even mixing a meal. So for example, I ordered the sampler platter with everything fried except the shrimp, which I asked to be grilled. This is a nice option. Also, the location is just lovely.

Was there for the Christmas lighted boat parade and there was a big boat docked where you couldn't see the lighted boats coming until they were right in front of you....you would think they would have this spot open for this event that happens once a year. This event pulls in a lot of people from different states....like us being from Iowa! This made our 3rd year coming back for this event....we enjoyed seeing the parade. We wanted to try the food but was too full of people....maybe next time

The food and service is really good. Just make sure that you bring plenty of money with you. I will not take away from the quality, but you can spend $40 per person easy and still walk out hungry. The sliders weren’t what expected, and the seafood platter that you’ll have to get a to go box for anywhere else, just isn’t enough food for the price, only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 star.

The View on the deck was beautiful. The shrimp poor boys were good. But the crab claws were way too expensive definitely not worth the price for two orders of Shrimp Po Boy sandwiches two orders of crab claws 3 sweet teas and 1 water it was $178. And there's no handicap entrance just a very tall set of stairs

The view is amazing. The staff is very good. The food was ok, definitely not worth the prices. For my husband and I alone it was $100 after tip for a fried pickle app, a fried shrimp plate, fried shrimp and oysters plate, 2 beers, and 1 daiquiri. We've had similar meals elsewhere for nearly half the price and just as tasty.

It’s time for the owner to make decisions about this place. The food quality has dropped with every visit over the last 5 years. We have gone here every August for 20 years to celebrate numerous family birthdays. The place needs to improve the menu, update the interior, go back to sizable crab claws, or just call it a day and close. The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is that the staff is super awesome consistently, and the view is still fantastic (for Mobile).

Great service. Great location. Okay food. Ordered the oyster po’boy sandwich and gumbo. The oysters were under seasoned. Also would have been much better if the bread was toasted. The gumbo was not good and also under seasoned. Not worth the prices but would come back if the food was seasoned.

Food was great once we got it. This review is about service. Took us right at 2 hours to receive our food once ordered. There was only about 5 tables of people and we were a party of 8. I could go on and on about service but I will not as I am sure they were doing their best with the staff at hand. Waiting 2 hours for our food was crazy.

The food was amazing and it has a great view. The servers were really nice and helpful. They helped my brother find a food that helped his allergy. Would go here everytime I go to this area.

The Grand Mariner is one of my favorite restaurants in mobile. The owners are friendly and service oriented and it shows through the entire way their restaurant works. The staff are friendly and quick with excellent service. The food is amazing. The fried seafood is always perfectly cooked golden brown and crispy. The chef also runs nightly specials that allow him to flex his creativity and they are always really good. The bar has really good drinks and an awesome happy hour. I bring my family from out of town there and they are always really happy too!

I can’t say enough about the amazing food, service, and people at Grand Mariner. We had our son’s rehearsal dinner there, and it was the best night. We were planning the event from our home six hours away, and Shanda and her team made everything so easy. The attention to detail, the kindness of the staff, quality of food, flexibility in planning, and the over the top customer service can not be beat! If you need space for any event, this is the place!!

We had dinner to celebrate a birthday. Our server,Jamie was amazing. The St Patrick's Day margaritas were awesome. We all had something different, which all agreed was excellent. Just a nice evening, not rushed, and was impressed how the experience went. Thought it was nice to see the manager,Stepheni ,bring our cocktails and check back to see how our dinner was. Will definitely by back.
