Nice little restaurant in Charleston. I I had heard that this place had decent home cooked food, so I expected it to be decent at least. I got a double bacon cheese burger with fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were well cooked crunchy and not to slimmy like some other restaurants. But the burger is what blew me away. This burger was THICK and just juicy enough to keep all of the flavor, but not make a mess. It took everything I had to fit this monster burger in my mouth, but it was well worth it. It was just a great overall burger, especially for its size. Will definitely be back in the future.

Food was excellent. Service was pretty awful. Hostess was rude, did not respond to me when I asked if they had any open tables except to gesture to follow her. I then sat at the table for 22 minutes before someone came up to ask if I wanted to order a drink. He quickly walked away after I ordered a drink and I had to stop him to ask if I could give him my food order too. After that point, the food came out pretty fast. Pretty sure the server said about 3 words to me total. Said thank you to hostess on the way out, no response, did not look up at me.

This is one of the best places in Charleston for meals that remind you of home, I have never tasted anything there that was not spot on. We eat there several times a week and take our customers at times.

My wife and I have eaten there many times. We are never disappointed. Great food and service.

The Smokehouse is a classic eatery for Charleston’s west side but the quality of food has diminished over the past few years. My last breakfast was pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. Eggs were over cooked, bacon was so over cooked it tasted more like pork rinds and the pancakes were doughy in the middle. I know good short order cooks are hard to find but some quality control has to be done. Makes me sad, this decline in quality.

My husband and I were on vacation and stopped in Charleston for the night. We googled places to eat, and want to try something different. When we arrived, walked in, and was looking to see if there was someplace to sit other then the bar. A man behind the bar pointed us to a room, while a lady behind the bar yelled "If you are wanting to eat you better hurry! The kitchen closes in 5 minutes! We were tired, hungry, and was trying to celebrate my 60th birthday. From the time we sat we were rushed, my husband was trying to order his dinner, fish, baked potato, they were out of, then steak fries, they were out of, he finally said just tell me what you have. We finally got our order in and the food came, all the time seemed like they were watching us as if we needed to hurry. The bar didn't close for another hour. This whole experience was awful, if we hadn't been on the road for 8 hours, and wasn't so tired, we would have just walked out. Couple from Indianapolis

Food was excellent!! Hot, Fast, but the Service not so much. We were a party of four, and sat in the front dining room (I'm short and have back issues so can't set at the counter) it was like we were a bother for her to wait on us. I expected better for a place that has been around for so long.

Took a minute to warm up on both ends, turned to be a great place and people. Will be returning for sure! Thanks Smokehouse crew for the great service and food(:
