Hike the Freedom Trail at Sunset. Due to construction to upgrade and beautify the trail entrance and parking at the Northern Road entrance, you want to access these trails from the backside. Pickup the Freedom Trail (the 1) from either Cactus Rd., or the 1/4 point bench at the Peak. You’re able to head up as well off the 302 marker, just stick to the #1 and let it carry you for miles all through all through this desert oasis. Sunset right now (October) is bursting with dreamy pink skies. Watch for rattlesnakes at dusk this is their favorite time to come out.

Great place for a hike but leave before the sun goes down there is a chance a creepy old man will stare at you for an awkward amount of time, I suppose hoping for a date. I am not making this up it happened to me after my run, and I was changing my shoes and putting my sweaty shirt and pack in the trunk. I am a 46-year-old guy, and even though I wasn't scared, it was odd and creepy. Are the dating websites that hard for the elderly to understand? The longtime reputation of Dreamy Draw Park is still well deserved. I guess the name has a real meaning. I wonder who named it.

Great park except it's been closed for to long bc the military is digging up the UAP there and building more of their hallow mountain base system out and they need to hurry up and open the park back up.

This is an excellent place to hike and it offers several trails to go around. Today I chose Trail 100. It is definitely a more moderate level Trail, if you're just starting out hiking you may want to wait a few weeks and Hike some easier level trails before you hike this Trail. There is a decent amount of parking, but it does tend to get full in the mornings. There isn't much shade on the trails, so don't be Reckless when trying to hike here.

I didn’t have much time to spend here, however it’s good for short, long or in between walks/hikes. Lots of people brought their dogs. Not as crowded as some parks. I will come back when I have more time to explore.

Good renovation. Trail markers and map are hard to cross correlate. Confusing which trails are which. Great new restrooms

I love hiking here. Trails are really nice but watch your step. People bring their dogs which is cool, but don't always pick up after them. Always remember to bring water including for your pet even for short hikes.

The bikeway provides a viable alternative to cycling on the nauseating arterial roads found all over Phoenix. It also is a critical segment for my cycling commute to work. The city is months behind schedule on reopening with no direct updates. Another example of Phoenix favoring automobile-dependent infrastructure over alternative routes.

Took this trail to Piestewa Peak and back, it was a gorgeous hike. The wildflowers were in bloom and the views were stunning. Not nearly as crowded as Piestewa.

Lots of fun at Dreamy Draw! The rec area is a bit smaller, however the trails are fun and scenic. Trails range from novice to expert, allowing fun for the entire family! We went on Trail 100, as that is my favorite. About a 45min hike around the mountain, with plenty to see and do. If you haven't visited Dreamy Draw yet, put it on the list!

Dreamy Draw is part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. There are plenty of trails to hike that connect to other part of the preserve and even other parts of the city. It's nice to have a nature preserve right in the middle of the city.

My family and I really liked hiking here. Even my 4 year old daughter loved hiking here. It was so fun climbing up those mountains with my family. Stay on the trails though. I noticed some people had veered off and partied a little.. It was a great place with plenty of outdoors environments to enjoy. Definitely felt like freedom out there. I even saw a coyote in the distance which was really awesome. I always saw rabbits, quail, lizards, and adorable ground squirrels, so it was very fun being close to nature.

This area offers a wonderful experience for walking and hiking. There are many trails, some easy, some moderate, some more strenuous that are well maintained and have wonderful views. It was a great pleasure for us to spend hours walking and hiking in Dreamy Draw. If you're looking for trees, forget about it. These hiking trails are GREAT from late Sep to early May. NOT recommended during the summer months as there is NO SHADE. The trails vary in difficulty. Some offer GREAT views. So many trails to choose from. Great for bicyclists too.

Beautiful park! Great trails for all levels of hikers & mountain bikers. Sad people don’t just clean up after their dogs. That’s not the parks fault it’s the dirty people. WATCH YOUR STEP! that’s all we’ll say.

They are stalling on reopening this park. It was supposed to reopen Winter of 2021. Whoever is the contractor company should be fined for missing the finish dare, the head of construction and the person at the city parks and recreation department needs to be reassigned to another position with a pay deduction.

Dreamy Draw is a favorite place for me and my 4legged buddy to hike. It is right in the middle of Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Easy access off 51 and Northern and from here you can head west or east on Trail 100. If you want to be more adventurous, you can take your pick of trails that branch off, and easily find your way back. Beautiful, lots of cacti. You'd never know you're in the middle of a huge metropolitan city.

One of the many great valley hiking areas.

  • 5/5 Devin F. 3 years ago on Google
Probably one of the best recreational areas in the greater valley, in my opinion. The scenery here is beautiful and you can see almost every part of the valley from these mountain tops. There's so much to see and do out here, from mountain biking to hiking, just to general exploring. Be sure to keep the area clean and pick up after yourself, we all want this area to be enjoyed for years to come and generations to come as well.

Really nice place for hiking and biking. Trials vary in sizes and difficulty. Maps is hard to understand though. And the poles along the trail are old and not updated. Still a really nice place. You'll rarely come across a trail where you bump into a lot of people on the way. Very spacious. I've seen people of all ages come here. Very dog friendly as well.
