Excellent place to visit and get a bit of local history. Great riverside views. The Fort itself and its grounds are very well maintained. There is a good amount of things there to occupy your time for at least a couple hours. We saw a cannon foring as well which was really cool. Great place to visit, especially if you or your kids are into this type of historic items.

Fantastic visit. Made sure to arrive at 11 AM for daily cannon firing. That ended up being an hour presentation on history of fort and area that was super informative. Learned a lot about James Jackson and my 10 year old son was an active participant. Highly recommend!

Great place to visit. Although this is one of the best preserved forts with many displays, this is more than just walking around and reading plaques. There is a video, but try to catch one of the many demonstrations that occur almost every hour. We attended the musket firing session with a history of the fort. The staff is excellent in their presentations. There are several seating areas for demonstrations. Admission is $10 a person, and worth every penny!!! If you are lucky you can see a modern oceangoing ship entering or exiting the harbor.

If you love history then definitely worth the visit. It is a not for profit attraction and the volunteers are great. Very knowledgeable about the fort history and happy to answer questions. All staff are in period dress and there is a musket demo and cannon firing twice daily. Definitely worth your time!

Incredible fort that is definitely worth the time to visit! It is just a short drive from the River Walk on Savannah (7 minutes I think? It was) — make sure to go around 11am or 2pm if you want to see the canons being fired. Great tour guide with lots of knowledge!

Favorite Fort in the area. Knowledgeable staff and plenty of historical information. Loved the cannon and gun firings as well as learning about signal flags. Winter visit, so not crowded at all. Beautifully preserved and would recommend to anyone who is in the Savannah area

An unexpected and amazing time. The guide and soldier that hosted the tour was the best part. He was a younger gentleman and dawned what appeared to be an authentic uniform of the time period. He gave a very informative tour and history lesson of the fort and surrounding area. He interacted with the children of the group, allowed them to partake in certain aspects of the tour and had a great sense of humor. At the end we were allowed to witness a firing of the cannon inside the fort. The gentleman inside was also very kind and they gave us a discount due to a show being filmed on site. I would gladly pay the original price if it went to the guide. The young man giving the tour not once complained of the heat and the uniform he was wearing even though we all saw him suffering deep inside. I applaud their dedication and I hope the management pays him well. Outstanding job and experience overall.

The fort itself is very well maintained, and the exhibits are well put together. But what really made this an amazing visit was the show. Mr. Bradford gave an amazing show in the morning, touring us around the fort and firing a cannon and musket for a demonstration. Highly recommend!

My mom and I visited Fort Jackson while in Savanah and it was a pretty cool experience. The place was very interactive and we were able to see experience the firing of a cannon. We purchased a 3 pack pass for $21 which allowed us to visit 3 museums.

This place is SO cool! Its $10 per person and you enter through this very cool looking old store (with a nice clerk) to pay for the experience, then you go down the path to get into the fort. You have all these cool things to look at on the first floor, old medical supplies, gun and canon equipment, ship models, ammunition, old communication technology, what these people are during the war!! Its so interesting! Then, you can go to the second floor which is a bunch of cannons and theres two watch towers you can get into! It's all very nice, we had a lot of fun! Oh, and dont forget the live canon firing!! Its LOUD! The first and possibly only time I'll hear a canon! Woo!!

Incredibly grateful for the hospitality and expert performance from the staff of the Fort Jackson site. We arrived as a military staff ride and received an incredible welcome and accommodations. Re-enactments were incredible and the historical presentation was outstanding! Highly recommend for organized trips!

This is a really cool place! A lot of great history. We were lucky enough to show up when the soldiers gave a demonstration of the fighting utilized back the day, we say them fire their rifles and were lucky enough to see them fire off the big cannon! We had a great time, would definitely recommend!

Fort Jackson was a great experience me and my wife went on a Sunday at lunch time, the parking was easy and not very busy and the entry fee was 10$ for each adult, easily worth it as the fort itself is beautiful and full of stories just begging you to try and figure out, we had arrived at the perfect time as they have a regular solider giving small demonstrations and we were lucky enough to catch a FREE rifle demonstration as well as a cannon firing over the savannah. Very cool experience and if your into history it's well worth every penny and easy to spend a couple hour admiring the sights!

Went to a private event there and was truly an excellent experience. They even shot the cannon. Highly recommend this place even though I’m uncertain of admission cost.

This was one of the best fort visits I have been to. Informational, interesting, and great demonstrations and presentations. My son loved grabbing one of the wooden rifles and carrying it around the fort. Definitely smaller, but they made it so much fun that we ended up spending 2 hours here.

The lady that gave the talks about the cannons and the guns was super funny and extremely knowledgeable. She made it great for our nephew who just knew he would be bored but ended up loving it!

Great place to visit! My boys love this kind of thing. Very hot but we did bring lunch and ate while there. If you can see if there is a tour , we were there during a boy scout thing and tagged along. Very fun to watch and saw the cannon get launched!

I really enjoyed visiting the old fort. The three "soldiers" played their parts well ❤️‍🩹. They talked about malaria and quinine and had volunteers take it and described how it tastes. They had them do drills in handling rifles and demonstrated the firing of a flintlock rifle and a Canon. Even the gift shop was a pleasant surprise. Well worth the time and money.

This was a great experience. The reenactment was very informative and entertaining, and they have live cannon firings. There is a lot to see spent a couple hours here, which was unexpected. You can see names etched into the walls, and it's not modern graffiti. One brick, you can see the finger molds where the brick was made and placed in the wall. The large ships come really close as they pass by this fort, which the kids loved. The ticket shop is the old train depot from Savannah to Tybee island.

Honestly was quite disappointed with our visit to this Fort. We had just visited Fort Moultrie a few days prior and they didn’t compare. I feel like the $10 entrance is a little much for what you get to see. We enjoyed getting to see the items that were laid out for everyone to look at, but other than that there wasn’t much else to see. We missed the cannon firing for the day, but maybe that would’ve made the experience better. Overall, I think we spent about 25-30 minutes here.

Awesome little place to visit. Very old fort with tons of rich history. Watched the soldier shoot the musket and cannon. Little gift store that also provide cold drinks for the trip around the fort.

Completely loved the history of the fort and happy this one is still intact. A union soldier fired 2 shots and also the cannon.. super loud but loved every second of it. So check out this amazing fort when your Savannah.

Extremely well presented fort through their guide today, 1st Sgt Bradford. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of information presented outside of advertised demonstrations. Come early, wear bug spray, and enjoy the history come to life so expertly.

Beautiful wedding venue option! Old Fort Jackson was a super unique and special place to host both the wedding ceremony and the reception. Lots of room for catering setup, tables for eating, bar and dancing. Plus, everyone enjoyed the views and exploring the fort itself. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE though, were the bugs 😄 I'm not local to the area but some of our friends from there said it was "sand flies" and maybe there is no way to solve that problem being that the Fort is close to the water and the wedding was right at dusk. They were pesky and a little annoying, so if it's possible to spray and minimize those, that would be the only thing on my "things to improve" list. Otherwise, it was an awesome spot!

Cool, old fort. Great educational experience. Love being able to walk the whole thing. Shooting the cannon off was awesome.

Very fun and informative. The tour guides were highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly. My kids had a blast. My son loved turning the 600 lb. cannon all by himself. It was a real treat to watch them fire off two of the cannons.

We stopped by for the history, stayed due to the staff and reenactment soldiers. Fantastic way to bring Old Fort Jackson to life. You can see how they lived, and feel the breeze off the river from the gun deck. Well worth the fee, could spend hours there if history is your thing, or just enjoy the view.

Went last weekend and had a excellent time. Spent much longer here than I originally planned to, and I am glad I did. The guide was extremely passionate about his job and a wealth of knowledge. The foundry markings on the cannons was the only question the guide wasn't sure about, but as neche of a question as that was I honestly didn't expect him to know. As a war history buff it is definitely worth a stop. Ensure you read the journal entries that they have as it was an excellent read and showed soldiers haven't changed much in behavior from then to now. Well worth the money and keep up preserving a slice of history.

It was a lot better than we expected. There was a historic interpreter who had a lot of helpful information. He shot off a musket and a 12 pound mountain howitzer cannon, and demonstrated how the 8000 pound cannons were moved as well as how they were lifted for the carriage to be repaired.

Nice small fort. Was able to get in and out in 30 min while checking out everything inside. Wish they did a military discount like fort Pulaski, but sadly they don't. The fort has great history so it's worth checking out.

The first fort on my Savannah trip—I was impressed! Everyone was friendly, especially the woman who demonstrated the canon firing/cleaning. Lovely view of the river and plenty of history to learn. I’d definitely visit again.

Not much here. Enjoyed walking the grounds. Don’t be afraid to touch the items made available to you. The cannon was fired that was a plus. Savannah needs to contribute more in the way of bolstering the exhibits. Choose the SEE 3 Option, save a few bucks.
