Amazing place! We did a lot of hiking and really enjoyed just sitting on the rocks while taking in the views. We stayed at the Holiday Inn resort and then rode the free park hop on hop off bus. The bus made it so much easier to enjoy the park as we didnโ€™t have to worry about finding parking at each stop. We left our vehicle at the hotel and the bus picked up right outside the lobby. So many places to see.

Spent a week camping in Acadia. Wish we had 2 weeks or more here. The sunsets were phenomenal, scenery amazing! Hiking was so much fun, so many trails to hike. Went to Sand Beach, parking was a bit crazy, go there early or be ready to walk (still not a bad walk) Make use of the island shuttle which we did. Also be sure to reserve a slot to go up Cadillac mountain. Hiked Beehive with our 19, 12 & 10 year old girls. If you do this be sure that your kids know how to hold onto the metal hand rungs. One wrong move... All in all it was a fantastic place! I made our girls promise that they would take their families here in the future.

Between the amazing, the challenging hikes, and the accessible viewing locations this is a bucket list visit. From Cadillac Mountain to the Bubble Rock you will not be disappointed. Tip if you do the Great Head Trail go counterclockwise, you will thank me later.

One of the prettiest National Parks I've visited. I loved being able to climb Cadillac Mountain and greet the sunrise. Otter cliffs were stunning. Jordan Pond was picture perfect. The trails offered varied in length and intensity. So glad to cross Acadia off my bucket list. My young son thoroughly enjoyed the trip too. Would love to visit again in the Springtime or Summer.

A national park that has plenty of things to see: beaches, mountains, rivers, lakes, old historic homes, and lighthouses! I was here on some cloudy days in early May but it still made a fantastic experience. I would love to come again in late summer or fall and see the leaves changing or everything green and sunny.

The "summer getaway" location in Maine (and the rest of New England). This national park has options for all. From short strolls and horseback riding to photograph and water activities. Recommendation: Plan in advance to secure accommodations outside the park and your "must do" activities. A little bit of preparation will be worth the journey.

Nice to come here as the colors were changing, though we were surprised by the crowds in October thinking we were past high season. Make sure to make a reservation to drive up Cadillac Mountain from May-October. The view is great, especially for watching the sunset, but you are going to miss it during those months if you don't plan ahead. Make sure you drive the Park Loop Road and stop for some beautiful views. We drove all around the park and wished we had time for what looked like some great hikes.

One of the most beautiful parks I've visited to date. There is something awe inspiring about standing on a rocky shoreline or by a lake and being surrounded by cliffs and mountains, or turning a corner on a mountain trail for a breathtaking view of the forests and ocean below. The park is crowded in the summer, but the south side of the island offers plenty to see without the massive crowds the eastern side draws. I would recommend some of my favorite trails, but they all have something to offer, and part of the excitement of visiting is discovering them for yourself.

This national park is absolutely beautiful, and I 100% percent recommend you go visit. I was here for a week, and it was one of the best times I have had. I went on countless hikes, and each was very enjoyable. The views were amazing, and made each hike worth it. I stayed in Bar Harbor with some friends, and it was such a cute town. I have not been to many different national parks, but this one was one of the best!!

Hiked the Beech Cliff Trail to the summit and back. Definitely involves a bunch of climbing on precarious rocks and 3 ladder climbs so be sure you can handle it. The view is amazing and worth it. Had a swing around Echo beach and ended up around Jordan Pond at Jordan Pond House for lunch. Its busy despite low tourist season so no idea what peak looks like. Weather was perfect. Park rangers are helpful and everyone is working on wearing masks and distancing. We saw very few people on our trail but Jordan Pond House was pretty busy... Lots of outdoor lawn to sit out and enjoy your meals. Not sure what the fuss is over the popovers. I didn't think it was a big deal. Loved sitting at Jordan Pond and soaking in the peace. Highly recommend a visit to Acadia! You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I have been to many of the National Parks, and Acadia is up there among our favorites! We spent a couple of days hiking around in mid-October, and it. was. breathtaking!!! The air smells and feels so fresh, the landscape is dramatic, and the wildlife is incredible. We saw bald eagles, seals, and deer. If you head to Acadia, Iโ€™d definitely recommend taking some time to walk down to the sand beach! If you walk all the way to the left, there are some tidal pools and grassy spots. We spent a lot of our afternoon laying in the sunshine and looking in the tidal pools. We also loved hiking around Otter Point! Gosh, I canโ€™t put into words how stunningly beautiful the landscape isโ€ฆ if youโ€™re thinking of planning a trip to Mount Desert Island, think no more!! Do it! Itโ€™s amazing.

One of my favourite places in the world. It's gorgeous. There is hiking, swimming, sailing, kayaking, bike riding, mountains, lakes, ocean, and trees - lots and lots of all kinds of trees oh and there's even marshes - and lobster any way you want it. Don't miss the lobster stew and popovers at Jordan Pond house

This park is a dream! A little bit of a journey to get there but so very worth it. Itโ€™s huge so I barely got to scratch the surface but loved every minute of it, and Iโ€™m already planning a trip back to tackle the rest. Sand beach was great! The coast trail was perfect. Going to Acadia was a bucket list item and it will be a bucket list item now to get back! Must see this place in its entirety. Unlike any other national park Iโ€™ve experienced! And soooo very well kept by the park rangers. Mad props, people! Love this one! Would give it 100 stars if I could!

If you are looking for a beautiful view then the sunrise in Acadia will take your breath away. I have packed into many glorious back country spots. I have drove on a wide variety of roads full of stunning views. I have sat on the peaks of many mountains and watched the Sun Rise and Sun Fall. There has been many trails that literally and metaphorically took my breath away. Yet, this terrain that only sits between 16 feet to the tallest point at 1,560 feet in elevation (Cadillac Mountain), some how manages to compete with the scenery of the West. It is beyond beautiful.

This park is truly the most beautiful in the country. There are currently very few travelers as Maine is handling the pandemic well. Everyone must test negative within 72 hours of arriving. The only crowds were at the expected locations and so thin that it was still easy to socially distance.

This is a lovely place to hike and get spectacular ocean views. Donโ€™t expect to see much wildlife, and avoid the heavily trafficked loop road during peak tourist season - unless you want to spend time on a parking lot or walk shoulder to shoulder with thousands of visitors. We especially loved the hike to Sargent mountain from Jordanโ€™s pool and also the less crowded loop around the schoodick peninsula

We visited the last week of October. There were still a fair number of people in the park, but we had most of the trails to ourselves when we got an early start. The trails were all moderate to challenging with lots of boulder scrambling. The views were worth the effort. I really appreciated having an alternative route to the summit of the Beehive.

Amazing park with non-hiking highlights that can be seen in two days. Lots of non-strenuous trails for younger and older alike and those with short attention spans. Ample handicap parking. Beautiful sights. Friendly and helpful rangers. Convenient bathrooms. Walking on the sandbar bridge at low tide was a wonderful family experience. Hitting the boardwalk trail in the meadows was a good way to stretch our legs. Thunder Hole was awe inspiring and peaceful. Cadillac Mountain featured incredible views. Sand Beach and Seal Harbor were kid favorites and great for family time.

A national park that not only showcases a gorgeous island mountain but also has scenic views of the ocean and many nearby islands. We went at the end of the season, first week of October, which had perfect weather. The park has tons of walking and hiking trails in all difficulty levels from flat and easy to strenuous and straight up. The wild gardens were extremely informational.

What a magical place . The hiking trails are unique because they are mostly rocks and boulders. Tons of easy trails along with much harder trails. Only issue is parking you need to get to the park early if you want to get a good spot.

Beautiful National park in Maine. So many sites to see and things to do inside the park. Tons of hiking trails and carriage roads. We were lucky enough to visit during peak fall foliage and the park did not disappoint. Lots of different areas to explore so be sure to map out your day and have other options available as some areas get very crowded and parking can be limited!

This park is beautiful! Lots of different places to experience. Jordan Pond loop, Cadillac Mountain summit road (you need a reservation), park loop drive, Ocean Path (my favorite), lots of trails. Buy a trail map for more detailed information. Blackwoods Campground was clean and nice. Site A147 was huge and well shaded. Don't miss the path to the ocean from the campground. Free shuttle service was a bit confusing and sometimes a longer wait than the schedule said. Parking was also challenging, so we drove some and took shuttle some. Trails could be better marked and described for difficulty level. Jordan pond house mid afternoon was not crowded. Food was delicious! Get the popovers!

Acadia is perfection, every season of the year. A magical and genuinely unique place where the magnificence of Nature and the best works of Man combine to create a sublime Paradise that somehow is both tranquil and dramatic in its beauty.

Beautiful scenery and challenging hikes to burn off calories! In my opinion, this has to be one of the best National Parks in the nation. It has a sandy beach that kids can play in, hikes for people who like to exercise, and Jordon Lake for photographers. This is a place you should definitely go in Bar Harbor!

This really is one of the most beautiful National Parks I've been to, and I've been to quite a few! The Park Loop Road is an easy drive that loops the whole park and has plenty of pull-offs for sight-seeing and hiking. Make sure to get out and explore Sand Beach, one of the only beaches with actual sand in the North-Atlantic (most beaches are rocky this far north.) An absolute must-do is a drive (or hike) to the top of Cadillac Mountain, preferably at sunrise. This is where you can see the vey first rays of sunshine in the entire country, as it is the tallest peak on the Eastern Seaboard. Overall, this place has something for everyone, and is one of my favorite National Parks.

BEAUTIFUL National Park with incredible beaches. I highly recommend going there off-season to avoid crowds and suggest following the loop trail road and visiting all of the stops. I can't wait to go back! The pebble beach was my favorite.

Where the mountains meet the sea. A beautiful national park with plenty of hiking and all session activities. It is designed around a town with many entrances and it is amazing how this was accomplished. As you drive around the park loop you feel as if you are in a different world, alone and one with nature.

My favorite national park so far. I havenโ€™t had a chance to do the hikes but seeing everything else a few different times. I keep coming back. Itโ€™s great all year just know mid day during foliage there will be lots of traffic. Go early morning or at 4:00.

Beautiful park. The family and I had a great time. Lines were a little long for the gift shops so I wasnโ€™t able to bring back many mementos. If you want to drive up Cadillac Mountain make sure you buy tickets online ahead of time. I bought mine over a month in advance and they were sold out when we got there for that weekend. Make sure you plan to spend some time thereโ€ฆ we only went for really two days. If you are into hiking or bike riding itโ€™s amazing. If we didnโ€™t have two small children we would have done a lot more hiking.

Beautiful. The landscape is breathtaking. I have been here at various times of the year and I am never disappointed. Just make sure you bring appropriate clothes. Get here early. It will take you all day to see all the sights that are here. While you can DRIVE everywhere, you WILL want to get out and walk around and become involved in this remarkable piece of nature. Just breathing the air alone will make you come back.

My family and I stayed in the area for a month exploring this great national park. There was so much to see and we still did not have enough time to get to everything. With that being said, the things we did see were magnificent and the wonder that surrounds the trail in this park is amazing. If you look close enough in nature you find so many little things working together that makes the landscape what it is. Highly recommend this park if you are ever in the area and the people there are so nice. Thanks for the hospitality.

Acadia National Park is gorgeous! As wedding and family photographers we are capturing images both inside the park and on the island many times a year. During the busy season the park can be rather crowded and parking challenging in some of the more popular spots. Since we are there a lot we know all the tips and tricks to avoid the crowds and find parking. We've always had the best experience inside the park!

Gorgeous park with a lot of beautiful plants. Some fern plants are 5 feet tall. The water views are beautiful too. Park staff are very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of walking and hiking trails and mountain and ocean views. We appreciate the free shuttle buses. The park does need more benches though. There are not enough places to sit down and take a break. Overall a fabulous visit.

Incredible National Park. Went in November traffic was light which made everything easy to get around. Downside many restaurants and amenities were not open. Did not need a reservation for Cadillac Mountain. I'd go back in an instant.

This park has many wonderful sites to visit including a beautiful coastline and trails and carriage roads with delightful views. The only negative is the crowds even as late as mid October. The campground is nice with adequate restrooms but no showers, electricity, wifi or cell service. Some sites are inadequate for the campers they are supposed to be adequate for either because they are too undeveloped or too narrow.

If they want to visit the Arcade National Park, book an accommodation with them the fantastic sunrise as well. Usually it is included free of charge in the booking. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The national park is quite large, although it is probably one of the smaller ones for the American population. At the entrance of the national park, you can purchase a single car ticket for the price of $35. Alternatively, you can purchase the America the Beautiful Pass. This costs $80 and entitles you to enter all of America's state national parks. I recommend that for Acadia National Park, if you want to visit it for Indian Summer, do not use the car to drive in the park . You can visit the park much more comfortably by shuttle bus without worrying about finding a parking place. The shuttle bus is free of charge and is operated by environmentally friendly gas vehicles. The shuttle buses stop at all relevant places without you having to worry about not being able to get away. Only if you want to visit Cadillac Hill, you have to go up by car. However, you still need a reservation for this explicitly, at least until mid-October. Otherwise, you won't find a parking space up there or you won't be able to drive up at all.

Absolutely beautiful place! Was only able to spend a few hours exploring, but we will definitely be returning for an extended stay. Very peaceful. Only one other couple were at the beach we stopped at to explore. It was drizzling, but I think it only added to the charm.

A very beautiful national park. I loved sitting on the rocks just watching and listening to the waves. We hiked the North Ridge trail to the summit of Cadillac Mountain and watched the sunrise over the fog. It was amazing. We drove the loop road and checked out all the scenic spots. It was a great 2 days.

Beautiful trails, difficult, vid the trail says "cliff" believe it, there are cliffs, several of the trails we took were extremely exposed, meaning one wrong step and you could fall to your death, be aware, leash your dog. Be prepared to turn around.

My husband and I went here while in Maine on our honeymoon. The park is beautiful with many hikes and beautiful scenery. We hiked saw Thunder Hole and hiked the Precipitous Trail- and trail was a vertical rock climb straight up. One of the toughest hikes/climbs ,but so worth it!

  • 4/5 Ren H. 6 months ago on Google
Beautiful landscapes, great hiking trails, and wonderful rangers. The only thing that could make Acadia better is improving signage. It's easy to miss turns or windup where you didn't mean to go

  • 3/5 Sebastian R. 6 months ago on Google
You can easily see why this is one of the most popular national parks. Every direction you look is a postcard. It's not the best for younger people, in my opinion. It seems like the entire area is catered towards the 55+ crowd. Camping in the park is a mistake; you need an airbnb, unfortunately. The ideal visit, in my opinion: fly then rent a car, don't drive. Have one big thing a day you want to see and make sure you do it as early as possible. It WILL get unbearably crowded. Do the less popular spots the rest of the day. Pack lunch, save the going out to eat for the evening when things slow down. Repeat until you leave. It truly is a gorgeous place dragged down by its own popularity.

If you like nature, hiking, ocean, lakes and small quaint towns then Acadia National Park is the place to visit. Unless you like oodles of people avoid the 4th of July weekend which has become very crowded over the years. It is lots of fun on the 4th but super crowded. Otherwise there is great hiking, great food and swimming over the whole island. Also great local artisans and crafts available. Enjoy!!

A showcase of New England at it best. Breathtaking beauty of nature...especially during the fall!! Fall is probably the best time to visit in my opinion as it is prime leaf peeping season. The different color leaves just elevates the scenery and landscape. It wasn't too busy when I visited but it was fairly cold. Make sure to dress warm this time of the year. One of the smaller national parks but definitely lots to do and see for nature lovers. So many trails, beaches, and gorgeous views of the coast. I'd say a good 3 to 4 days is needed to explore this park.

Great park! Had a couple of wonderful hikes there at the Precipice and Beehive trails. Strenuous, but rewarding!

The park is well maintained and everyone seems to be extremely respectful and kind. It is an enjoyable visit every time and it never gets old. I suggest reserving a time to view sunrise/sunset on Cadillac Mountain! The roads are newly paved and make for a really enjoyable drive through the park.

So Beautiful! For us, it is a 2 day trip, but 4 days may have been the best. If one can come in multiple seasons, they could really experience the best of many worlds

Absolutely gorgeous! The views from the top were incredible. Thunder hole was awesome to watch swell and burst. My family loved this place, definitely a must visit! Be sure to get your tickets early and arrive asap. Once you get there be sure to visit the gift shop too!

Definitely e-bike the carriage roads and drive the park loop. Gorgeous autumn colors, amazing coastline. Don't miss Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, or Jordan Pond. Disability parking makes this park easily accessible.

An absolute gem of a national park. The beauty of the scenery and landscape is beyond words. There are plenty of wonderful hiking trails, vista's, and scenic drives. Parking can be an issue at times in certain parts of the park as many people wish to experience its beauty. Definitely worth a trip of its own.

Acadia National Park genuinely lives up to the hype. It's a true gem tucked way, way up the East coast. There's so much to see and do, we could have spent a month there. There are so many hiking trails with stunning views that range from easy to hard. No matter where you are in the park, you're sure to have a gorgeous photo-op. The only downside is the crowds. This park is not well equipped for large quantities of people, and it can take away from the beauty at times. That being said, it's 100 percent worth the trip. Just make sure to take advantage of the Island Explorer buses to reduce the amount of traffic and to ease parking. Also, use All Trails to determine if a hike is right for you. Some moderately rated trails may be more like a hard trail for some, and reading reviews is really helpful. If you want to see the main tourists attractions, plan to get there early and still expect a wait. I also recommend checking out Bar Harbor for some excellent restaurants and cute shops. Again, parking can be an issue, so plan accordingly. Despite the crowds, if you have the opportunity to see it in person, do it. Any nature lover will enjoy this piece of paradise.

Been to a lot of National Parks and this one is in the top ten. Lots of cool scenery, And the iron rung hikes are very unique. We did Beehive with ice on the ground. Might not recommend that! We were wearing crampons and that helped a lot. Very little traffic, no issues parking... The weekend after Thanksgiving.

There are some unique things to see and do, but there were a LOT of people doing the same thing when my family was there.

One of the best National Parks I've ever visited. We had a great time in Nov. and barely saw another person.
