Kids don't typically get excited about historical sites but my middle boy does like some of it. Visiting here because my husband grew up about three minutes from the site and never went. Really cool place! Super nice folks working there, a good price, and we walked the whole area, seeing stuff that even interested my teenager. Very cool little museum inside as well. Recommend if you like American history.

I’m here visiting from Texas and happen to discover this hidden treasure. Why not stop by and check this place out. It’s incredible, you walk around and get a real feel for what life was back in the day. The walk is filled with historical facts and the feeling I got was as if I was walking back in time. I did a self tour but I would recommend a guided tour. After plenty of walking I went into the indoor museum where there was a lot to see. A special thank you to Ashley. She was amazing and so helpful. She took the time to tell me more about other events they have there. It really did made my day. I will definitely be back Thank you again Ashley

This fort complex is a beautiful place with lots of living history demonstration happening inside. There are people making candles, stitching clothes and leather, weaving, cooking, blacksmithing and doing all sorts of things like it used to be done in the olden days. It's a treat to watch them reenact scenes from the past. The staff is very helpful and informative. Entry fee was $10 for adults when we visited.

Wow! This was a great living history experience for us. Very interesting, especially the retired doctor who acts as the fort's surgeon. His presentation was fascinating! Very memorable.

I have attended the Revolutionary War event at Fort Meigs three years in a row, and it's one of my favorites to be a participant of. Even though the fort is close to "civilization" (making it easy to get to, easy to park at, and easy to grab dinner from), once inside the fort walls you are separated enough to focus on the historical era of the weekend. The event is not crowded and the schedule is casual enough that I find the event relaxing. The staff is knowledgeable, and the gift shop contains some great resource books (along with the usual fun toys). I admit I also appreciate that the site has actual flushing toilets (not all historic events do)--both in the visitor center and in the fort.

It was a special event this past weekend so admission was 12 bucks instead of 10 like normal. We got to take part in a fort evacuation reenactment. Otherwise we were free to wander around and explore it ourselves. This place is huge, like a lot bigger than it looks. There is a lot of walking and there is not any solid trail or path. Just something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues at all. But everything can be accessible if you do have a wheelchair or something like that. The museum is massive. Every other Sunday they do miniature war games for everyone. You can act out several war scenarios.

Largest wood fort in North America. Outstanding historical site with a depth of information of the history and deprivation of the men who fought for the newly created nation of the United States of America against the Indian Confederation and the British Empire.

It’s well worth the admission price. They have a museum with a very well done video inside the visitors center. The museum can take 30 minutes if you take your time reading and appreciating the exhibits. The walk around the fort itself will take even longer, there’s a lot to see and learn, and the fort itself is quite large. This is a stop you should make, if you like history you will have a good time here.

Great tour guide with lots of information about the fort and the War of 1812. The fort is about 10 acres, so there is lots of walking. There is small museums in 3 or 4 block houses and a small museum in the center and also a gift shop.

Need a war history fix? Check. Need some cool miniatures for you table top collection? Check. Want people in period costume? Check. This place is pretty cool. I feel bad though because I forgot what the war of 1812 was.. considering myself educated now though. Clean bathrooms are always a plus on road trips. Just sayin'

Alas, I must wait until April before I can enter the grounds. Between the Americans resisting the British/Indian siege of Fort Meigs and Commodore Perry's victory on Lake Erie, the young America remained free of the tyrannical George III's grasp.

Visited the museum and took the 11am tour. We learned so much about the war and what life was like in the fort. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

Fort Meigs is such a historic adventure! Go on an event weekend and it's even more exciting! We got to see live music and live cannon fire! Walk around in the fort for a small $10 donation fee. Or you can walk the ground for free! They are even dog friendly! Just keep your puppies on a leash!

This place is FANTTASTIC for history buffs; especially those living in central Ohio and without access to many other battlefield sites. Beautiful museum and superbly kept grounds. The price is optimal esp for those part of Ohio history connection (free), in clouding parking. Will def return. Even the kids were somewhat entertained by reenactments and period exhibits on the fort grounds Recommend making a day trip out of it and following it up with a dinner trip to Campus Polleyes on your way back to Cbus!

Awesome place to bring your family. Living early life back in the early 1800's War of 1812 live candle making, light artillery demo, infantry drill making herbal tea, making cookies. You won't forget this magical event. $10 for adult $5 for child

Amazing gem of history! I took my two kids and they both enjoyed it. We did the self guided tour so we can take our time. There's plenty of informative boards to read along the way.

True was awesome, she gave us an awesome tour and was so friendly and answered lots of questions! Awesome and well worth our time! Was raining and she still stuck it out and made it memorable

The grounds are fascinating, as are the guides. I learned so much about the War of 1812, the people who lived and fought in the Fort, and the parallel history of the Indigenous People who once lived in Ohio.

This is the most compelling historical exhibit I have ever seen. I left Perrysburg in the mid 90's. This was all built after that. The reconstruction of the fort is like a walk into the War of 1812. Artifacts from that time are carefully explained, but not overwhelming. Plan on spending 1 to 2 hours at least and you will come away with a better understanding of that period. Well worth the visit

Fantastic reconstructed fort and grounds. Wonderful interpretive center with a dynamic model of the fort as it was being built, loads of artifacts, and well-organized displays. The text of the signage on the grounds was well-written and interesting. There’s even a kids’ play area where they can dress up like someone from the early 1800s and use their imagination to help them learn and apply what they learn. Well-kept facilities and grounds. Plenty of parking.

We did the tour last year and doing the ghost walk this year. VERY fun!! Please read description though. Some of tge tours specifically say not for children and they mean it!! There is fun for the whole family here, however. If you're in the area, I highly recommend!

👍👍 I have been to many parks all over this amazing country. I will tell you I have never been to a park as patriotic as this one. I don't know the date, but I know it was no where near July 4th. When I first entered the park, everything was normal. I saw a lady walking her small dog and a elderly coupl...
