Came here for my birthday. First time and it... was... awesome. We had hibachi. I'm a double meat guy, super generous with the portions! I was stuffed. Hibachi guy all smiles and put on a great show!!! Very inviting staff and a birthday surprise dessert at the end! I will be back to try the sushi soon! Thank you for making it a memorable experience!

Fresh and great quality sashimi! I always order Sashimi Deluxe at every Japanese restaurant I go to. This one is one of the best. I love how fresh they are. I did not finish everything so I took it home, two days after still very fresh. Unlike other places, if you take home you should finish by the end of next day. And the size is very big per piece and that make it very worth it for the price. I would definitely go back again. The staff was pretty nice too.

Great sushi and hibachi. I got the Pink Lady roll and the steak and scallop hibachi. The scallops were huge and cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be coming back.

Went on a Thursday evening and all tables were full so we sat at the sushi bar - which was a great view! Service was friendly and fast. Soup came out immediately, sushi took some time. Food was delicious and filling. Will definitely return!

I have been going to Takumi for many years. I am not sure if it's from doing more takeaway, or maybe staffing issues (although much of the staff seems the same), or maybe just too much business, but the quality seems to have dropped way off since the pandemic. This was never quite as good as the top tier sushi places in Madison, but it was one of my favorite and most frequented ones. Unfortunately the past several times that I have gone here the sushi has been disappointing. I hope that maybe this is just a staffing issue behind the sushi bar, but I may have to find a new go-to.

Very extensive menu and great sushi. I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy some sushi and will definitely go back.

Excellent food. The sushi chefs are true artists. The presentation was a treat to see.....and eat. Everyone was very professional and helpful. Fair prices and a pleasant atmosphere.

Understated, unassuming, and undeniably delicious! I had lunch by myself and got to sit at the bar. As usual, my food arrived quickly, despite being busy. I had the sushi sashimi combo with a salad. The salad was yummy, a typical side salad that one could expect from a Japanese sushi restaurant. In terms of the sushi, it consisted of perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned rice, very fresh fish, and generous portions. As always, service was kind and attentive. Overall, the perfect spot for a yummy lunch!

Not too bad of a place, but not very good either. I have had better sushi many places. We had the potato cakes, harumaki (spring rolls), vegetable tempura rolls, vegetarian rolls and Vegetarian yaki udon. The sushi rolls were good but for everything else the flavours all seemed a little muted. Now the bad, the portions were small for the money (than most sushi places I have been to) and there's a 18% service charge (not sure for what, the service wasn't anything exceptional - only good thing she mentioned that the soups were not vegetarian and we appreciated that)

Outstanding dining experience. I had the opportunity to visit Takumi's last weekend with a group of 4. They easily could have sat 6 at the table. I was very impressed with the quality of everything we got. The sushi and hibachi were on another level. It was a little expensive, but I think that was due to our own ignorance with the menu. however, that doesn't reflect negatively on them. I would 100% visit again, I was very happy with our visit. Keep up the good work Takumi staff. That was so much fun!

Was visiting Madison for a quick trip and hopped into Takumi for a quick dinner. I think you can tell a lot about a sushi restaurant based on their omakase and they did not disappoint. The quality of the fish and the variety was excellent. It was also nice as an "out-of-towner" to see how friendly the staff was with locals and the variety of different unique rolls I saw coming from the chefs. Would suggest to anyone in the area looking for quality sushi.

I just can't get enough! My favorite is the special bento dinner. Try the tempura shrimp and vegetables with the teriyaki beef. Woo! Every part of the dish is crafted with expertise and to perfection. We came twice in 2 weeks; service was better the first time around, but the food is in a class all its own.

This place rocks! It's kinda small and they had 1 hibachi table but we were able to join another group, and I've been to a dozen different hibachi places but the hibachi chef here was by far the most fun and entertaining I've had. He even made my uptight 5 year old laugh and have a good time. All of the food was good but my food snob 9 year old thought the gyoza and fried rice were best he's had and I agree. They have a stuffed jalapeno with spicy tuna and cream cheese appetizer which I have been looking for since I moved to Madison. Not to mention all staff are incredibly polite and helpful. I thought this place was amazing and will definitely be back to check out sushi.

Takumi is a nice restaurant. Food is good, atmosphere is cozy, and service is good. We had sushi…all well made and fresh. I liked their hand rolls especially. Also had a baby octopus salad that was well made. The sushi boat was impressive and beautifully presented. I had the deluxe sushi entree which has a nice diversity of sushi. A good place.

While passing through Madison, and upon a recommendation from a close friend, we stopped into Takumi Japanese Restaurant. I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp with Vegetables. My Daughter had the California Sushi Rolls, with a House Salad. Everything was absolutely delicious & prepared perfectly. If you have a Gluten Allergy, the staff here go the extra mile to insure you don't get anything with Gluten. Our wonderful server was Ika. She was very polite, professional and just a Sweetie. We will be back!

Loved everything about my experience here. The food was great, and the prices were reasonable. If you like sushi or sashimi, I recommend you check them out. They have other options as well, but I believe those are the options people mostly go for here.

Great Sushi, stellar saki selection. The service team is also very kind and welcoming. Excellent date spot or solo dining. Sushi top notch. 10/10 would recommend. small and quaint spot.

Great food, great staff. Asked for all you can eat and thought he said yes, but apparently not. Had a hard time understanding what the man said, but I guess they don't offer it. Besides the price, it's a pretty nice place.

Excellent sushi rolls! The "out of control" roll is a potential new addition to the menu, and hopefully the feedback is positive because it was superb. Great atmosphere, great service, would definitely visit again.

My partner and I stopped at Takumi for lunch while running weekend errands. It was a lovely place to have lunch. The sushi tasted delicious, with fresh rice, vegetables, and of course, fish. The staff was incredibly friendly and diligent. We did not have to wait long at all to be served and receive our food. Takumi's menu is quite extensive, and we hope to come back and try more of the food available.

Nice sushi place. But small area its very personal. And with the sushi bar right there it takes time to get your order. Quality takes time but its worth it. If you come during a busy time a bit cozy for sit down can barely hear yourself. But food to die for.
