The Forsyth Seafood Market & Café Experience (Carryout Edition). On this day, I was looking for seafood and convenience. The Forsyth Seafood Market & Café was near, and I knew I needed to arrive early to beat the lunchtime rush. So, upon walking into the café portion, I was slightly confused about their ordering system. They had tables with card readers and mini-computer notebooks in front of their counter. So, I was unsure if I were to order through the notebook or with a person. After touching the notebook screen and noticing there was no menu, I asked someone behind the counter if she was taking orders and was told yes. So I ordered their two-piece fish plate that comes with a side, hushpuppies, and slaw. It did not take long for my food to come up, and I was walking out of the door in no time. Once back and ready to eat, my food was ok. However, I did not taste much seasoning on my fish. Would I go back to Forsyth Seafood? I don't know if I would go back. I don't feel like the price of the plate reflects through the taste of their food. The dish itself gave resemblance to something you would get at a fish fry fundraiser through your local church or school. Moreover, there was nothing memorable about the customer service received.

My husband and I always hit Forsyth Seafood when he comes home to Winston-Salem for a visit. We live in KY. Today we came in to order an Oyster Boat to go and 2 bottles water. We waited for more than 25 minutes, as others ordered and left. My husband approached cashier and asked about our order number. He was told all there big orders get priority over customers standing by in the restaurant waiting for orders. The cashier then said she saw us standing there and thought that we had already received our order. Then why would be still standing there? $18 down and 30 minutes later. Such a bad experience for food I am always in anticipation of. Maybe another trip......maybe????💔

My first time purchasing and it will definitely be the last. The person at the front of the market side was very rude and disrespectful. I kept smelling a foul odor coming from my bag once I got to the car headed back home. We had dead crabs mixed with live ones that were barely clinging to life. The dead crabs were smelling so horrible. Only a few were alive. We ended up throwing out the entire bag because they smelled terrible. I am so disappointed as it was a waste of $!!!

Very disappointed. I ordered my food online for curbside pickup. I parked in the designated area and clicked the link to notify them I had arrived. I waited 15min in the car and called (bad phone etiquette). I did see a women (I assume a manager) come from the back door to grab her coffee or smoothie (that she had delivered) and didn’t even acknowledge my wait or ask has someone checked on my order. Maybe 2 min later the same woman returns and hands me my bag and says “your order just came up”. I checked the bag and my fries and shrimp were COLD. I walked into the restaurant and asked for my money back. Truly disappointed and disgusted. No one even tried to get my a fresh hot meal or seemed to care. I will NEVER return. I heard a bad review from a few friends but I still gave them a chance. Never will I return.

Well seasoned fresh seafood dishes as good as our favorite hometown spots in New Orleans. If you didn’t think we could do seafood right in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Seafood will prove you wrong. Don’t forget to try the broiled options which are super flavorful and delicious. I recommend everyone in town check out this spot to see what all the fuss is about.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars for this restaurant. Friendly staff and delicious food. Some of the best seafood I have eaten, especially the shrimp and oysters. This is a must try restaurant if you are in Winston Salem.

The food here is incredibly good. Seasoned so perfectly. Everything from the flounder to the oysters to the shrimp, is so delicious. As well as the sides, some of the best collard greens I have ever had. Really good desserts too that they make in house, we tried the strawberry shortcake and the banana pudding. Great hardworking people here that will cook you an awesome seafood meal. Will definitely be back!

Good place to get freshly prepared fresh seafood . The seafood gumbo was delicious. You order at the counter. If you get there before 6:30, you can pick out your fresh seafood from the market and they will cook it for you. They were short staffed the night that we went but the service was still good. Definitely going back before 6:30 sometime soon.

I used to pick up here often. Chante (sorry if I misspelled your name) and majority of the other workers that were here made you wanna come here. It felt so nice and welcoming and I loved coming here. My last 3 visits the OWNER has been extremely rude to me for whatever reason she has. I ignored it the fist two times assuming that she was having a bad day I know how restaurants can he but its no way she’s suddenly having a bad day every time I walk in. And yes, it is the owner, older lady. Maybe you should take after your employees and be a little nicer. When my order got ready she packed it sat it to the side and made me wait even longer and attended to someone else that walked in. Now she’s on the phone while bagging the order I’m waiting for acting like she doesn’t see me waiting. I had to get up and ask for the order after waiting and it being ready. Doesn’t make sense.

Food was the best seafood I had in Winston so far…The flounder was good ..That Mac and Collard Greens was on point and the coleslaw was fresh and made was scratch ..Whoever is cooking keep on cooking because I’ll be back this week for another plate 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥..I didn’t get my hush puppies but the coworker that answer the phone had great customer skills and made sure she take my name so when I come back threw I get my hush puppies…My manager was right it was about the place of business… Nothing like good quality food …

Make sure you receive hot fish because my son ordered hot fish and was served cold fish. He had to go back in for them to correct his order. And the staff are not very attentive when placing orders. It is not the customers duty to check if food is hot and fresh. Fish should never be served cold....period. Therefore I will not be utilizing their services in the future. Makes for bad business.

Best seafood and chicken wings I’ve had in YEARS. When I tell you I ate the wings and fries WITHOUT any sauces? That is how good they are. Fish, shrimp and chicken are fresh. They are fast, efficient, and very economical. 10/10 highly recommend. Family from Charlotte came up and were blown away with how amazing the food was for the price! That’s saying something.

Good food, beware of upcharges I ordered a combo plate by phone and was told a combo was two items with slaw, hushpuppies and one additional side. Salmon and oysters were upcharges. $5 & $7. I got a small 4 oz portion of salmon and 6 oysters for $28.99

When they say it’s fresh, they are not kidding. Tastes like it came straight from the ocean to your mouth. The way it’s cooked and the seasoning used is unlike any other seafood I’ve ever had. Everything on the menu is to die for and the people are always kind and genuine. If I could give 6 stars I would. Please don’t skip out on trying this wonderful restaurant.

Great selection. Food was good, fish was so fresh. That's hard to get around these parts. But they do it well.

For the most part I know we ALL have our bad days or ups and downs. However, when you work in customer service or any where that deals with the public and you have a business. I feel that there should be some type of greeting, courtesy, and smile. When I went there to get fish (not the cooked fish but the other side (fresh fish) the man that was asking what type of fish I wanted had a disrespectful attitude and did not smile at all and the tone of his voice was disrespectful. When I asked for fish, the way he slung the fish on the weight thing was also disrespectful. Plus I had my two daughters with me. They don't need to see anything like that. One of my daughters asked, Mom, is that man okay? I'm not trying to make nobody or any business look bad, but I know that I'm not crazy and I know what I saw. I will not come where I do not feel comfortable. I'll give it one more try. The ONLY reason why I'm NOT giving a one star is because the gentleman (short guy) that works in the fresh fish department makes me feel comfortable. He jokes and laughs.

So disappointed! The fish and sweet potatoes weee okay, but everything else lacked flavor. And the sides were so small… they may as well have been samples! I will continue my search for good “soul food” in W.S

It’s always great to see an black owned business survive in this marketplace, i salute. BUT I LEFT SEMI DISAPPOINTED!!! I spent $32 bucks on a pick 3, today my first time here, 2 pc catfish , popcorn shrimp, fried oysters with gumbo and yams! I ASKED FOR EXTRA SEASONING when I ordered food. Catfish STILL came out very bland , skimpy cheap tasting fillets as well, overcooked old popcorn shrimp, oysters were Great! Gumbo was very satisfying as well! Yams were ok and eatable! No drink comes with pick 3 meal. Come on na Forsyth, we thank u for staying down and providing seafood. Season that fish up!!! Drop fresh popcorn shrimp. Takes 2 mins to fry. Don’t serve old popcorn shrimp. Keep gumbo the same , it’s delicious!!! However The Meal was not worth $32 bucks and no plans to return

Great fried catfish and the collard greens were as good as grandma's. The sanitation grade is very respectable too. Service was slow and advised that my order wasn't received and had no record of name of the person whom placed the order..and paid for via phone call. Careful stepping to leave the counter area..a little slippery.

Stopped there for lunch after a medical appointment, and we were warmly greeted by a sweet young lady. Our food was fresh, hot, and ample. We will go back! They follow all of the COVID protocols, and the dining room is spotless.

Good spot for fried seafood. I came here with coworkers earlier in the week for the first time, I had been wanting to try it for awhile being new to the area. I ordered the pick two combo- popcorn shrimp and fried clams with a cup of seafood gumbo and mac and cheese. The shrimp and clams were great, mac and cheese was okay, nothing spectacular. But I appreciated the variety of sauces available- tartar, cocktail, hot sauce, ketchup. A little surprised they didn't offer tap water, said we would have to buy a bottle, so I just got my water bottle from the car. Service was friendly but a bit slow, it took over 20 mins for us to get our food after ordering and it didn't seem too crowded/busy at the time. A bit pricey for lunch, but it is seafood. Overall, I'd recommend going if you're craving some fried goodness.

The cashier told me the total of my item, pointed at the card card station then walked away. Only to proceed with calling out online orders. I was left standing while the other cashier literally serviced 4 customers. I called out to the cashier to ask if my card went through. After she searched for my receipt she apologized for walking away for so long. Only to find out from another worker that she forget to press a button. My first time and last time. Can't comment on the food because I am waiting on my order.

Online ordering does not mean fast. Placed an order online at 6:52 pm. It's now 7:15 pm. A few minutes turned into 2 minutes back to a few minutes. As much as I love the food, and drive from Greensboro to get it, it will be a while before i do it again. Especially when people walking up received their food way before I did, regardless if I got salmon or not.

I see why Forsyth Seafood was voted best Seafood in 2020. Hands down the best seafood in the area. Everything made fresh to order. Staff were friendly and made great suggestions on popular items. Fried Snapper hush puppies and Jumbo Shrimp were amazing! Forsyth has two sides a dinning side and Fresh Seafood market. Mobile ordering and EBT are available.

I first sampled the Trout chowder at the Cobblestone Farmers Market just before Christmas. It was simply amazing. I vowed to seek out their store and try some of their offerings. Yesterday we placed an internet order. My husband and I ordered the 12 piece fried shrimp dinner to share. It came with hush puppies and coleslaw and we picked fries and a baked potato as our two additional included sides. We also ordered the seafood chowder as a starter. I arrived to pick up my order a little early than the time I requested. I went into the market side and the fresh fish was a beautiful site to behold. Back over to the cafe side I gave my name and explained I was a tad early and would be waiting for my food. The sweet lady at the register offered me a cup to get some complimentary Sweet tea while I waited. It was wonderful btw. My name was called almost to the second of the time I placed for pickup. Driving home the aromas that filled my car were very enticing and made my tummy grumble. Arriving at home the meal did not disappoint. The chowder was filled with seafood, hot and just the right spices. The remaining meal was also still hot and cooked to the perfect doneness. The shrimp were deliciously breaded. I never got to taste the coleslaw as my husband devoured it. He had the fries i the baked potato both great. The hush puppies were light and moist. I will return again and again a work my way through their menu. Both sides of the establishment were clean and the staff extremely friendly. We have found our fish restaurant!

The staff was so nice and professional. They heard that we were form Norfolk VA and it was my wife's birthday. They came out to sing Happy Birthday to her..it made our visit so special. Thank you.💗

I got the 5 piece fried fish plate combination (1 flounder, 2 catfish, & 2 croaker) with hushpuppies & slaw for a little under $18.00. Hostess was friendly and polite. Restaurant was clean. Looked like the are once again open for indoor seating., but have limited outdoor seating as well.

Service was awesome, the food was the best seafood we have had in years.The oysters and shrimp were perfectly breaded. Oh yeah.. the broiled oysters with garlic and parmesan cheese were to die for..Can't wait to go back. Thank you for great seafood.

Man listen......this food is so good, it just don't make no sense. Other than the smell that drew me in from across the street at the gas station, my food was fresh and hot!!!! This place is the business, period!!!!
