Three stars for service, five stars for excellent Crystal shrimp. Lots of squabble between wait staff and bar when you dare sit on the gorgeous outdoor patio during happy hour. Food is high quality always.

When I arrived for a takeout order, I had a small wait due to short staffing. I had no issues waiting, because I was just happy that they were open and honest. I apologized several times for the fact that they are short staffed. The food was worth the wait! I am Gluten Free, so my orders can get tricky. Everything was exactly as I ordered it, and it was even checked off on my receipt! Made me smile! I have had NO cross contamination issues with this order, so I know they worked hard to make my food safe for me! #foodallergies

I came here for dinner with friend of mine and was blown away for the first time in a long time. The customer service is wonderful. The food was really really good and the red velvet cheesecake was just awesome. I will definitely come back here often to try some more of their great menu items.

This was definitely a quant unique restaurant. The food was good. The staff seemed a bit confused who was supposed to wait on us. Let alone seemed surprised we were there. It took them about 20 minutes or more before they even realized we were there. In fact other guest were seated and given beverage before they even noticed or realized we were in there section.

Very upset with our lunch today! Always heard good things and we are all very disappointed! Very small portions and had multiple missing items. This was definitely not worth the price! We all had high hopes. Won’t order from Ginger Roots again.

I haven’t been here since they remodeled, so I honestly think it’s been a couple years. Used to be one of my favorite places. Tonight I went and ordered the shrimp and broccoli. Really disappointed, the dish came out with the broccoli, pretty much raw the shrimp were lukewarm and didn’t even seem like they were stir fried they felt like they were boiled. The waitress was quite nice took it back got me another one, unfortunately, it wasn’t any better than the previous one I sent back. I felt bad, I didn’t see any point to telling the waitress It wasn’t good. I took it home and hope somebody here will want to eat it. Really disappointing. I’m adding to this review after I read what was posted from the management. They did give me a 20% off the dish, which was three dollars and some cents. The replacement was not better. I felt bad for the waitress and was not going to complain again because I find it embarrassing. A manager did not come out and talk to me which I would’ve thought would be standard practice. I just wanted to clarify that.

Overpriced appetizers for lettuce wraps, definitely not enough filling for 4 . Would like to see that.bartender was more on the ball than my waitress as she was overwhelmed and Bartender knew i was waiting for over an hour. Portion sizes should be bigger. Was very good meal. Besides serving and prices. 👍

Excellent food. There must have been a large group as service was slow although the main dining room was mostly empty. I ordered rice noodles with beef and broccoli in brown sauce.

This place has a cool look inside and staff are kind but the food was not good. I was so excited but myself and my boyfriend didn’t like our meals. I had sushi and he had the sesame chicken. I wouldn’t recommend either. The chicken was tough and way too chewy. The sushi seemed low quality especially compared to other sushi places in the area. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Just had lunch, just me and the hubby. Our first time here. It was VERY VERY GOOD..I'd give it a 10 star if I could. I had the GR Chicken which was spicy but the perfect spice, not burn your sinuses spice. Hubby had the combo and he loved it just as much. Shrimp and chicken both were fresh and juicy. Presentation was fantastic. Service was on top, very friendly. I have nothing bad to say about GingeRootz. You should definitely give this place a try!

Excellent!! My wife and i were struggling lately for she and her brother just had surgeries so we are really picky in foods. We usually visit nearby restaurants to lighten up my wife. Only this place give us extra service. The food is great our amazing server named “bench like a chair thats how he say it “give us great service and food options, he even recommended and substitute some item due to our restrictions. My wife was in tears when we went home after she boost her with kind words. He is a good man and a good employee. Thanks to him and for sure we will see and request him again as our server.

The ABSOLUTE best experience I’ve had ANYWHERE!!! Shout out to “Skinny”! He went out of his way to give us a dining experience we’ll never forget!! He even got us a Coca Cola from the gas station next door and sang the loveliest birthday song to our 23 yr old daughter. The food, staff and atmosphere were the best! Big smiles leaving this place! Skinny had us all in the moment that our phones weren’t even thought of…we were way too busy enjoying his customer service!! Sorry no photos but we will have memories to last a long time!!

We had the new lunch buffet. That was all they were serving for lunch. $16 pp, limited selection, but the food was tasty. Egg rolls , salad with a couple toppings, fried rice, lo mein, beef, sesame chicken, crystal shrimp, donuts balls. My only issue, like most buffets, could be hotter.

Excellent place to eat. Super attentive staff, great food, and wonderful ambiance. So glad I got the chance to stop. Only one little comment on the sushi roll, it could have been pressed a little harder. Just didn't hold it's shape as well as I would have liked, but was delicious as is.

There seamed like 1 server for the whole restaurant and he kept forgetting stuff. I had lau chow chicken and it tasted like a sweet ketchup. I also tried the sweet and sour chicken and that was bad would not recommend getting that my wife had the make your own bowl with gr chicken and she said it was really good. I'd be willing to try again but careful with what I order

This has to be the worst pad thai I've ever had. My girlfriend and I each took just two bites and couldn't bring ourselves to eat any more. The noodles were small, almost like pho noodles, and the dish had an overwhelmingly liquid consistency. To make matters worse, it was excessively sweet, primarily due to an overly prominent sweet chili sauce. The strong smell of the sauce was also quite off-putting. A disappointing dining experience overall.

In town visiting after many years and have been craving the Crystal Shrimp. Even though the menu has changed over the years, thank goodness they kept the crystal shrimp on the menu! Chill atmosphere, good service, and tasty food.

GingeRootz is my absolute favorite Chinese food restaurant in the area. We really like to dine in as the ambiance and service are very inviting. The Kung Pao Trio has amazing flavors and the portion size will provide 3 meals!

Delicious food. I loved it so much I wanted more and am still craving it right now. The service was great. My fortune cookie didn't have a fortune, though 😕

Used to be one of my all-time favorites when in Appleton. I had not been here in a while so I was excited to come back. The food - fantastic! The hostess - awful. She obviously didn’t want to be there, or host us. Our waitress - same. She seemed very unexcited to deal with us, even though it was not super packed. The hostess and waitress did the bare minimum, which is a shame because the food is still so good.

Made a special trip to Appleton to visit this restaurant to treat my military spouse for lunch on Veterans Day. Our food was just plain awful! We ordered the tangerine chicken and the cashew almond chicken. Both meals arrived to the table warm, not hot. Pieces of broccoli that was served with the tangerine chicken was cold. The chicken in both dishes did not taste fresh. The cashew almond chicken had no cashews and the sauce extremely salty and with overpowering taste of ginger. We ended up leaving after barely eating our meals. We will not be back.

Food was okay at best. Had heard really good things about the place. When you walk in the light bulbs are half burnt-out wonder how long they're going to be. Never felt more ignored by a waitress in my life.

We order takeout from here once a month, and it’s always delicious. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I’m giving 4 stars because it takes a long time for them to make the order (typically 45-60 minutes, regardless of when I order), and while the food is delicious, it is far more expensive than the competition in the area. Still, it’s a great date night meal that won’t disappoint.

A bit saddened writing this as i have been going here for years. The atmosphere is always pleasant and relaxing. The service is good, (depending on who's working). From a food perspective, not sure what happened from my most recent visit last week. They've revamped & removed several items from the menu including my favorite eggplant dish and it was discouraging to see they no longer serve sushi, just the local favorite "Appleton Sushi Roll' remains which is on the appetizer menu. However when the sushi arrived, the fish was all but absent inside, it was such a small amount it was almost immeasurable. It also did not come with a side of ginger or wasabi. I had to ask for it separately. What sushi does not come with wasabi and ginger? So i essentially paid $ for a sushi roll of rice and cream cheese. Not sure. Will go back, maybe was an off night. My allegiance will be determined by a follow up visit.

The crab rangoon appetizer was pretty good. I had the Thai Curry and it was quite awful…it did not remotely resemble a curry. My daughter had the pad Thai, which was okay. The atmosphere is fine, modern and open.

  • 3/5 Lauren N. 5 months ago on Google
Not sure why ratings are so high here. The food was alright, but don't go expecting your favorite dish to taste anything like it normally does. The pad Thai had zero peanut sauce on it. In fact, it was more of a sweet and sour sauce. The lo mein tasted more like soy sauce noodles than having any balance of flavor. Service and atmosphere was great, but food seemed more like someone had a vague idea of what the traditional dish was supposed to be, and then made the rest up without any research. Also, the waitress seemed confused that I (a woman) was paying, rather than my partner who is a man.

The place was beautifully renovated, everything is good aside from the dessert which needs a little presentation but still it taste good. Bench our server is fun and friendly to be with as always. He even help us seated for host is busy. We will request him again on my birthday my kids love him when he teach them how to use chopsticks. Highly recommend the place

Used to really like this place! Unfortunately the last 4 visits were not worth it. Food is good... Not great. Last visits we got sat in a weird corner.... Waited 15 min for water than another 5 min for them to ask our drink order. After we finally put in our order... They came back about 15 min later asking if we wanted refills. We both said yes. Our food came out 2-3 min later. For about 15 min our server sat and told another table (who already paid n were ready to leave) about his trip to Spain..... Finally get our refills and soy sauce AFTER WE BOTH ALREADY FINISHED OUR MEALS. server didn't care at all what so ever. I voiced my displeasure and he walked away from us. 0/10 will not return.

This was my first time to this place. It was a very special treat from a best friend from high school and we're still best friends in our 60's!!! I was very impressed with everything. The waitress we had was great with the exception that she didn't check back often enough as she got busier. The food was out of this world delicious, and I had sushi for the first time in my life! The tempura shrimp was incredibly delicious and so was the crystal shrimp. I will definitely be going back to this place again!

Nice and clean. Food was okay. Not what I was expecting when I ordered the Pad Thai dish, was expecting actual Pad Thai noodles but was made with rice noodles instead. Overall it’s an alright restaurant with a decent menu.

We didn't even make it to the entree - the vegetable egg rolls came out cold and still partially frozen on one side without any dipping sauce. Got up and left immediately. Waited 15+ minutes for two mojitos that tasted like fruit juice. Would not recommend this place 😕

The first time we waited a VERY long time for our food. But it was great. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th time I brought other family members sadly the service was again very slow but the worst part was that every single time food was cold. Had to send it back on several occasions to be heated up. Once my mom's food was piping hot and mine was stark cold. I brought a friend and we both had cold food. I want to love this place but the constant cold food makes me question if I will ever go back.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday. Arrived at 11:40am. No one at the front desk....wait staff (I think there were 2 people working for the entire place) came up to the desk to grab things but never even acknowledged us being there. After 10 minutes of just standing up front (with more and more people coming in) we left. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Appleton, I'm sorry to say the service has gone way down hill.

Very disappointed. Gone is the quality food from previous owners Julia or her daughters. Two orders of sesame chicken. Mushy, one dimensional sauce and could barely tell there was chicken. There are lots of better options for less. Not going back.

An evening at GingeRootz was just what the doctor ordered. After a very stressful week, I was able to enjoy a leisurely dinner with my bestie. The staff understood my situation and was so accommodating. Bench was our waiter and I can’t say enough about how awesome he is. He even made sure we had a complimentary dessert because he understood how much I needed this night out. This is not the first time Bench has been our waiter. When I enter the restaurant, he has a big smile and a friendly greeting. Thank you staff of GingeRootz for making this evening relaxing and distressing.

The food at GingeRootz is very good and priced appropriately. The service is just terrible. A 10 minute wait turned into 20 minutes and it took over one hour to eat and leave. One host handles all the seating and take out orders and he cannot multi-task. At one point during our wait one of the servers asked if the host was going to sit anyone because he saw there had been long wait times. The 8 ounce cups of water are half ice. You'll have to wait until the ice melts for something to drink because someone won't be by to refill it, unless you stop them if they happen to pass by your table. Oh, but what about Covid? Covid-19 has changed everyday life, but it's been 2 years now and they've had time adapt. Understaffed maybe? No. There were at least 10 workers that I could see, just not enough servers. The food has always been good, but service has gotten so bad, it's not worth dining in anymore. Just save yourself the hassle and get your food to go.

We went at 4:30 on a Thursday. We were immediately seated and the host was very nice and friendly. Our waitress was very prompt and helpful. The ambiance was inviting and relaxing. The restaurant was a little cold but seemed to be warming up as we left at 6ish. The food was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and shrimp mixed vegetables with spicy hunan sauce. The Appleton roll was also very good. They box up your leftovers for you which is nice. We had a great time and definitely will be back! Can't wait for warmer temperatures so we can check out the patio.

We wanted to experience an amazing dinner experience tonight at this establishment but we did not get to achieve it. We got there at 5:00 pm and checked in. We were told to that it was a 30-40 minute wait, which we were okay with doing. After, told this we went to the bar to get some drinks. After waiting for 30 minutes we noticed customers that came in after us we’re getting seated before us. We had a group of two people and groups with more numbers were getting seated first, so I went up ti check with the host and she said “we will text you when ready.” We waited almost an hour and 30 minutes! Unacceptable especially when other groups were sat before us! We canceled our reservation and walked out! Even the groups next to us said, “ya we’ve been waiting forever.” I understand if you’re busy I do, but don’t tell us it will only be a certain amount then sit other people!

Food was great. Our server, Bella not so much. Completely forgot our table. Asked for check waited and waited and after 15 minutes another server brought the check and we again waited and waited for her to take it. The other server finally said he would see she got it. Was totally disorganized or overwhelmed not sure which.
