As an IFMGA guide The Romp Pintails are hands down the best skis I've had the pleasure of riding. Skis are my security and livelihood. I wanted a light carbon ski that would be stable at speed, solid in serious terrain, edge well on ice, float in powder and be a joy to break trail for days on end. Caleb & Morgan and the carbon elves in the shop over delivered; the carbon black magic has to be skied to be understood. The Romp Pintails perform dramatically better than similar offerings from the big name companies. I work with the with the Special forces Mountain Guide Team and they tried my ROMP Pintails on a training course and outfitted their entire unit with the Pintail 110mm. It exceeds their needs for a bombproof ski that turns effortlessly in all snow conditions, even with a heavy pack. They can buy any ski on the market and they chose the ROMP Pintail 110. My guests' agree as well, ages 25-75yrs. They make powder effortless, breakable crust ridable and save ACL's. I find it a bit crazy to buy skis off the rack with "one flex for everyone". Romp can customize the flex to your weight (with pack), skiing style and needs. The Pintail 99's are my "1 ski to rule them all" choice. Going on the Haute Route? This is the ski. The pintail smears effortlessly through breakable crust and lifts the tip to the surface in powder. 99mm underfoot is the ideal width for hardpack skin tracks (for grip & low stress on knees) while still floating in the deep days. As a former rando national champion who's not as fit as I used to be, I love the light carbon construction for breaking trail day after day on consecutive hut trips. ROMP Pintail 110 for powder & the Romp Pintail 99 for hard/soft snow quiver of 1. Life's too short for bad skis and their are few things in life that give as much joy as backcountry skiing. You deserve it.

I love my Romp Skis. I’m 61 and these have taken 20 years off my skiing. The team at Romp are great to work with. Have lots of demos and frankly it feels good keeping my money in the local community.

I just spent a few weeks in Crested Butte and demoed around a dozen skis before deciding to buy some Romps. The guys there are super friendly and let me try out a bunch of different options. I also skied Volkl Mantras (not sure what the fuss is about), a few different size Nordica Enforcers (incredibly fun to carve), Blizzards, and a couple others I can’t recall right now. I’ve been skiing some 2017 Liberty Origin 96’s in 182 for the past several years and demo a few every year. Here are my takes: Zorro 100 - this was the most well rounded ski I used my entire time. They like to carve and are super playful. I could throw them around easily in the trees and on bumps. Shepherd 106 - not for me but I can see what people like about them. A ton of rocker and super easy to do quick motions in trees and bumps. Probably great in powder but we didn’t get much. Oso 105 - ended up buying these and sized up 188. These things are like maneuverable tanks. I can plow through anything the mountain throws at me but they’re still fun to pop off every little opportunity to get a bit of air I see. I could not hit a chattery top speed on these no matter how hard I tried and they are a ton of fun to do big GS turns with. I was torn between these and the Zorro but ended up going with these because they’re more different than my Liberty’s. If I had to choose a single ski, though, it would be these. My takeaway was that these guys are great and make a solid product as well. Go check them out if you have the chance.

I love my Romp Pin Tail 99's! I wanted a ski setup for 60/40 backcountry/resort skiing, and these skis are it. The build quality is superb, and the overall experience ordering a custom pair of skis was very positive. I have no regrets, and can't wait to put them to use over the years to come.

I had Romp build me the ultimate powder ski with a healthy dose of stability, float and energy. Additionally wanted the skis to be able to carve up the front side and hold on hardpack. As impossible as all this may seem, they delivered. I can ski the woods and bowls, pop out onto a groomed trail, including frozen hardpack without skipping a beat - fast wide open terrain, large arcs and edge of the trail sharp fall-line tight turns. Skiing THE 120 with Countervail added.

If you're in the market for new skis, a custom pair of Romp skis should be on your short list! The customer experience was outstanding. It started off with an email to get the conversation started, followed up by a phone call which lasted nearly 45 min. The purpose of the call was to establish my skiing experience, perceived ability level what I was looking for in a ski. My goal was the elusive 'one ski quiver'. He did a great job of explaining the nuances between models and managing realistic expectations for what I was looking to do. It was awesome to have that level of care taken, considering my annoyingly impossible ask. In the end, I opted for a pair of Romp 100's in the 'That 70's Ski' colorway. I've skied these on everything from the East Coast, in its typical 'ice coast' conditions, to classic PNW blue bird groomer days to the steep and deep extreme terrain of Crested Butte, CO. where these skis are designed and hand built. They have exceeded my expectations on all fronts and the Romp 100's are easily the most incredible skis I've ever ridden. If you're concerned about the sticker shock of custom skis, you'll be as surprised as I was to find out that the price was very comparable to 'off the shelf' production skis. I doubt I'll ever own a different brand of ski. I'll likely just expand my quiver of Romps in the seasons to come. 10/10 will buy another pair.

My wife Sarah, my two boys and I have been on Romps since they opened the company. Caleb and Morgan have always been easy to deal with and Romps customer service is second to none. I own one all mountain pair and one pair of their ultra light backcountry skis. Both pairs of my Romps are FANTASTIC and I recommend everyone owning some of these truly unique boards. . Skiing is more fun on ROMPS.

The Romp Team is awesome. My husband and I both got skis this year and both Caleb and Charlie were so helpful. They helped us figure out the right fit for us, and we got off-the-rack skis and they were able to fit the bindings to our boots within a day. The skis are amazing and we're so happy.
