This is an awesome campground! My husband and I are avid campers and there is nothing worse than close quarters camping sites! This place was the complete opposite! We had all the privacy we wanted! The sites were nicely cleared with plenty of level land for your tents and it was well maintained! When it was time for checkout, the owner drove around and made sure we enjoyed our stay! We were a little late leaving the grounds due to a morning thunderstorm, but he was super understanding and didn’t pressure us. His wife was super nice on the phone when checking in and out and informed us of everything we needed to know prior to our stay. This campground is the best around!

We found this tent only campground after being turned away at another and boy am I happy we did! The entrance is clearly marked and easy to find. You drive down a long road to get to the campgrounds. Once you pull up to the entrance you call the number to check in. The woman I talked to was pleasant and quick to let me know what was available. She did all the work. She did not make me reserve online like most, which I appreciate very much! There are a few levels of camp sights from which to choose. The highest level requires a small jaunt but the views are worth it! All sights are spaced well so you are not up on each other and each site is large enough for more than 1 tent if desired. There are port a potty type restrooms which were very clean. The location is perfectly situated to allow visiting all the local attractions. There is no electricity so the darkness of night allows a view of the stars that will stay with you forever. We would have extended our stay but the camp grounds were sold out for the weekend. Once you stay here you will plan your return visit as soon as you leave.

We LOVE Fort Superior. This is our second trip here and we can successfully say this is our go-to campground for the area. Fire wood available for purchase on site, sites are extremely private and not “parking lot” like and staff is extremely friendly. Fire rings come with a little grill which was nice for roasting hot dogs on the fire. Bathrooms are available and are very clean. We overall love the privacy of this campsite which is something you will struggle to find at other campgrounds especially in the pictured rocks area. Views are great from campground and the area is serene and beautiful. You can’t go wrong with Fort Superior for the rates and experiences!

I arrived in the area to hit some dispersed camping but found it was no longer accessible. So, I started looking for somewhere to stay and found Fort Superior. I stayed at Site 11 and the view of Grand Island Lake Superior is right there from the site. You have to carry in your gear about 100’ from the car. That didnt bug me for the view. They do have regular pull in campsites as well. The staff was prompt in responses and the facility is clean and feels remote. Great place, I will be back. Thanks!

What an incredible hidden gem just outside of Munising! We had booked this campsite when we weren’t able to secure camping at Pictured Rocks and what a delightful surprise!! Excellent tent-only campground with large, roomy sites and plenty of privacy! We had campsite two and would recommend it as we were able to fit two trucks, two tents and a hammock as well! Very, very clean vault toilets and great views of Lake Superior up the hill at the lookout! We will definitely be back!!

This was our second stay and we’re planning to come back again! We love everything about the campground. It’s very clean, well maintained and the views are incredible. From our campsite we’ve seen the northern lights, star link and a Bald Eagle! We’ve also found Yooper rocks on the beach across the street. Can’t wait to go back!

We will keep coming back to Fort Superior Campground! Great location, kind host, easy access to water and bathrooms, great views. Nice flat spots for tents at each site, as well as picnic tables, lantern hooks, and fire rings.

👍👍 Reasonable and friendly ferry service. Brought our bikes and made the 20 +/- mile ride. It is NOT a ride for the timid. Sections of the island circle tour are moderate to severe in terms of difficulty. Bring plenty of fluids and some snacks. If in the area visiting Pictured Rock National Lakesh...
