As book stores become more and more of an endangered species, this little gem has become a comforting refuge for area bibliophiles... But it's so much more... Frequent events of all sorts fill their monthly calendar, including cultural, artistic, and spiritual experiences, to name a few, and you shouldn't be surprised if you end up running into the owner at nearly every community happening, getting involved, lending a hand, and passing out coupons for a free cup of gourmet coffee next time you visit the store. The store itself is cozy and welcoming, with many comfy spots to sit and read for a while, should you choose, soft, warm lighting and the magnificent scent of old books with new stories. To top it all off perfectly, if you're lucky and patient, you may just have one of the shops resident cats come along, looking for a petting. I have been IN LOVE with this place for years, and I really can't say enough good things about it and those who make it all that it is.

Spent another delightful afternoon in browsing & conversation in my favorite used-bookstore, sharing tea & baked goods with other visitors. The owner is truly knowledgeable, creative, and congenial - a writer, artist, retired teacher, activist, gentle soul and more - who is thoroughly welcoming, a fabulous listener, and a great raconteur. Three of us left with a box- and a bagful of assorted found treasures of books. Highly recommend a visit!

A very eclectic store! Small and lovely. John is very sweet and there is a rich variety. Couches. Coffee. Sometimes cookies.... An oasis in Macedon and well worth the drive for books and any of the various events!

Absolutely a Haven for readers! The owners, vendors and the live in book guards (the cats) are all warm and friendly, welcoming you into the shop. The aroma of fresh coffee and scent of books and cinnamon sooth your senses. You never want to leave. Enjoy this little gem.

Books ETC is a wonderful little gem! Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly little cat, and an even friendlier man named John, who immediately invited me and my husband to his impromptu party he was having there with friends. There's books upon books to browse through and a wonderful little coffee shop. John was funny, super hospitable, and a very nice man, and it was a pleasure to meet him today. Thanks for welcoming us to this great establishment!

Decided to go here with my daughters on a whim and wow am I glad I did! Maryanne, the proprietor, was above and beyond helpful and friendly. I have never felt more welcome at an establishment as I did seconds after walking through the door here. My girls loved the cats here and told me they liked this place better than our own home! The store is very small and a bit cramped, but it has a great cozy vibe. It's definitely more of a place to sit down in the seating area with a cup of coffee or tea and chat while perusing the eclectic selection of books. I thoroughly enjoyed this place and will definitely make it a regular stop for us in the future.

This is my favorite place in New York State. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The book selection is diverse and unique. They have fun events and clubs and you can always find a hot cup of coffee. The real gem of Books Etc however, is the manager John. He is a gift from the universe and is sweet, loving gentleman and scholar. I always know I have friends at Books Etc.

I work here one day a week, so I'm biased. But it's as much about the people as the business. It's an absolutely wonderful place. Stop by during these winter months. It's just a nice place with a lot going on.
