My wife and I have been enjoying LBL for more than 5 years. With a back country camping permit you can camp almost anywhere you'd like. There are a ton of lake front sites that you can have all to yourself as long as you look for back country camping sites on the park maps, they're available for free on the park's website. If you enter/leave LBL through the north make sure you check out lite side bakery. They have the best breakfast I've ever eaten. If you leave out of the south check out redneck pig, the food is delicious. They have something for everyone. Cheers!

I wonder how many people know about the Amish family killed on April 7th 1982 there? The things that killed them don’t officially exist. But one died and was recovered after the entire incident was buried. There was one survivor. A 14 year old boy. The killing was not the first incident. And it likely won’t be the last. Be careful out there. There are things that go bump in the night. And people don’t just vanish. Stay away from the caves.

Immense, with many attractions, maybe more than National Parks. No private property within the limits of this forest. Hiking, mountain biking, horse back riding, fishing, boating, hunting, target range, Elk, Bison Ranges. Back pack it camping on hikes, dispersed camping, basic and self serve camping, developed camping for tents, group camping, recreation area camping, tent campers, camper trailers, RVs, camp sites with water and electric hookups, showers and washers and dryers. A working 1850s farm, old iron furnaces, swimming, boat landings, picnic areas, a planetarium and more.

Usually a great place to unwind and fish. Very quiet. But once the wind blows you will start to vomit! EVERYWHERE smells like rotting fish!!! Drove over the bridge and it was the same. We stayed and fished for about two hours before the smell just was too much to bare

Very cool place to relax. Don’t just drive over the bridges. Stop and enjoy the water and scenery. I was there in late June and the water was warm like bath water. It is clean and the people in the area are very accommodating to tourists. Great place for kayaking or hiking. Highly recommend visiting.
