📡Amazing place with very sweet staff! We took the bus tour unexpectedly. Showed up 1:58 and was asked if we wanted the bus tour, of course we do! Highly recommend the bus tour, lots of info! The food was absolutely delicious. Had an Italian dub and a Club sub. The gift shop and the hands-on museum were phenomenal! We learned so much and will definitely return!

Great experience! Did the $10 one hour bus tour with the short presentation and video and then bus trip out to see the telescopes. Couldn’t get too close (that’s only done on certain tours which require tickets bought ahead of time as a background check is needed). No phones allowed on the tour, you have to turn them completely off when you get to a certain point so it doesn’t interfere with the telescopes. The exhibit hall was AMAZING, my husband and I had a blast and it would be fantastic for kids. If we’re ever in the area again I’d love to do a more in depth tour and stargazing. And don’t forget that it’s in the national radio quiet zone, so download your directions there (AND BACK!!) so you don’t get lost

The huge Green Bank Telescope (GBT) was fascinating to see. It towered over 485 feet, with a diameter of 300 feet. All the displays in the museum were well explained and easy to see. Getting to this place makes for a nice ride on your motorcycle, with great views along the way. And, not a bad place to relax and spend some time in the quietness of the area.

This is a very nice place to learn about science and space. Great place to bring kids. They have hands-on learning activities. This is a nice self guided tour that is roughly 3 miles round trip. They have a distance to scale solar system set up with information boards along the way. The tour leads you out to the large dish. While we were there, we also saw a lot of deer (so you can see nature while you walk). Next year I hope to arrive in time to take the bus tour.

Unless you take the tour bus, it's a 3 mile hike to the big dish and back. Not for the out of shape or physically limited folks. The girl in the gift shop was super helpful and courteous. The dish tour is free for military vets. Remember, no electronics are allowed close to the big dish. Not even digital cameras.

My scout troop went for a merit badge weekend. It was amazing. Sara, the instructor, knows her stuff and was able to keep the attention of 30 teenagers with no problems. Letting them run the 40' telescope by themselves was a highlight of the scouts' trip. The campus (?) Is beautiful. The exhibits taught me more about radio astronomy than I ever knew to even ask, to the point where I'm investigating home radio telescope kits... In short, I want to go back. I wish I had majored in astronomy in college, like I thought about doing.

$10 per person for the tour. It was well worth it. Our tour was on a Monday at 4pm and our family was the only ones taking the tour. It felt like a private tour. The guide was so knowledgeable and kind. We asked lots of questions and she seemed happy to answer.

I came for a silent retreat day and was not disappointed! GBO has a gift shop at the door, a cafe with hot food for a fair price, and plenty of cafe tables inside and outside that face the big dish. There is also a free museum with interactive exhibits that make astrophysics fun for all ages! For $10, you can watch a video on the GBO in the theatre and then take a guided bus ride to the telescopes. Your phones need to be off completely (along with non-health related electronics) while on the tour or in the main facility, but there are spaces outside where you have permission to take pictures.
