I have now purchased basswood carving blocks twice from Janish Woodworks. I could not be happier with both the product and the service. The wood is of top quality, and was shipped and recieved in a very timely manner. I plan to continue purchasing from Janish in the future!

Excellent source of local wood. They have live edge maple, walnut , willow, and cherry at affordable prices. Also available are pen stock lathe materials, as well as many finished products like cutting boards and jewelry boxes. They also have a limited supply of burns. Super friendly staff.

I bought two large pieces of basswood for carving projects. I couldn't find what I wanted near where I live (in farm country California), so I bought online. The blocks are exactly as pictured and described. No pith or bad spots. Shipping wasn't cheap, but I was very pleasantly surprised when Barb Janish emailed and said she was reducing shipping because she was able to fit both blocks in a single box for less. I appreciate honest people! I'd definitely buy here again if I can't find what I want locally.

We went to Janish Woodworks looking for some live edge to use as a fire place mantle. They had so many beautiful live edge pieces it was reall hard to pick out just one. We endend up spending a bunch of time there admiring all of the beautiful, amazing woodwork. My wife bought a couple other things that she could not resist. 5 stars all the way! We will be back for any wood needs.

Awesome customer service. I emailed and sent a picture of what I wanted lasered. Same day reply and then Theresa sent me a proof to approve. It was a custom piece for a friend that lost her father. It was also ready quickly and she even asked did I need it sooner. My friend will cherish this. Thank you again.

Awesome retailer, for both in store & website shopping! I purchase and use their high quality kiln dried wood slices in a variety of species. Janish offers live edge slabs, Burl slabs, dry killed hardwoods, taxidermy plaques, basswood carving blocks, etc. I’ve also seen some of their beautiful laser engraved signs. They’re a family-run business in the northern part of lower Michigan. Great people to work with!!! The attached pic is a sign I made with a Wormy Maple wood slice from Janish!

I have been a wildlife woodcarver for many years and have carved basswood from many sources. I recently became a customer of Janish Woodworks, Inc. Janish's basswood is some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of carving -- clear, kiln dried, straight grained. I've finished one powertool carving with it, so far, and am working on the second. I love to carve wildlife, but carving is so much more fun with such high-quality basswood. Also, the communications I've had with and from Janish have been delightfully friendly and professional. I will most certainly be buying more basswood from this good company.

The people were friendly, personable and eager to help. The products presented at the store were all of a superior quality and craftsmanship. It is highly likely I will go do more business there.

Bought 2 engraved cutting boards and 2 wood box's for wedding gifts. They were both beautiful. The kids who received them loved them, and the parents were very impressed. They have a ton of very cool stuff, we will be back

I ordered a big block of beechwood from Janish for a carving project. They shipped the block same day and a couple days later I received a splendid block of wood. No irregularities, no checks, perfectly square, it's perfect. I'm looking forward to sending them a picture of the final product.
