Just took a discovery flight. It was a better experience than I could have possibly imagined. Ben was knowledgeable, informative, and has a great attitude. Willing to answer all of my questions and really gave me great exposure to the helicopter world. He actually had me "flying" the helicopter on our very first flight together. I had an amazing time flying with Ben and Michigan Helicopters. As a first time flyer I was extremely nervous but Ben was exceedingly safety-conscious, providing excellent overviews of the helicopter, the communication system and anything else we needed to be aware of. I needed Ben's help to get an ATP rotorcraft/helicopter. He laid out a plan around my work schedule and with a few weather days still we managed to complete my ATP ride on schedule. He followed each lesson with an detailed email summarizing what we covered and what he suggested to review for the next lesson so I could get the most out of that lesson. The R44 I used was immaculate each flight and really well maintained. I have been flying helicopters almost 30 years professionally and I still learned a lot. Ben Tong really cares for his students and I highly recommend his business to aspiring pilots and pilots looking to upgrade/transition. I took helicopter flying lessons at Michigan Helicopters and Caitlin was my flight instructor, she was an awesome trainer! She was very good at teaching especially the ground school with visual teaching and slideshows. She helped me understand many things about flying that can be hard to understand.
