Made a reservation 2 months ahead due to the restaurant’s excellent reputation, but left disappointed! The wine selection didn’t disappoint, nor did the cocktails, but the food was seriously hit and miss. The starters were okay. We went for tuna, which was good, but the steak tartare was under seasoned and drowning in sauce. The mains were hit and miss: the ribeye steak was excellent, but the Chilean sea bass was under seasoned, overcooked, and served on a bed of risotto that was overcooked and mushy. I was tempted to send this one back but couldn’t bring myself to it. The total bill was around 300 dollars - at this price point I expected much more.

The food was amazing, I asked for the steak medium and it was perfect. Food came out very fast and the staff is very thoughtful and considerate for bringing out my child’s food first. The waiter Eddie was awesome and I recommend him 100% he gave my daughter balloons which made her night. Also the staff informed me that the lobster wasn’t up to their standard so they had to ask if I wanted something else, I went with shrimp, but I love that they said something instead of just serving it! The Chilean sea bass was also very tasty. If you want upscale dining for any occasion or to impress a date this is the place to go!! Asking for Eddie will increase your experience as well. Thank you Michael’s for the nice dinner. Eddie also gave us a complimentary dessert for it being our first time here which was very nice of him. Honestly the food coulda been bad and I’d have given them a second chance just off the service I got. Being young and having as many tattoos as me I don’t always get the best service but I was treated like everyone else at this location and I’d like to say thanks for that as well. We will be back

Visiting friends in Sarasota, they took us for dinner here. Very popular place; make sure you have reservations! The service and food are very good. I was very impressed with the way they decanted the wine, as you see in the pictures. Overall, it was a great experience. Try it when in town. I absolutely suggest it.

Overall, decent restaurant. The Lobster & Escargots had a nice presentation and was average. The Wedge Salad was a bit below average: the bacon was burnt to a hard/firm crisp beyond flavor as if it was cooked-set aside-cooked again. Chilean Sea Bass - this dish was executed perfectly and highly recommended. The service was a bit slow as the apps arrived before any water/drinks did and we had to get up a few times to request refills, another napkin, etc…We would consider a revisit in the future.

What an incredible experience. We were greeted at the door by two people, just after we valeted our car. Stepped into a gourmet experience. It was our 1st anniversary dinner. Exceeded every expectation we had. Our waiter, Eddie, saw to our every need with grace and flair. It's hard for me to eat out. Food allergies a plenty. He was conscientious, kind and said he didn't know when he didn't. So grateful! The salad, the entree, the dessert ... oh my! If you tried it, you must! Best experience we've had in Sarasota yet!

I have been here twice and they never fail to impress me. I got "The Prime," which is a steak for two. It was great, we finished the whole thing! The outer crust was flavorful, and had a hint of rosemary. The keylime pie was also good, lots of meringue. White choc torte had a fun white chocolate casing around it, with a fluffy bottom lemon cake. Cathy was our server, and she was welcoming and kind.

One of the best restaurants we have been to. Wade was an excellent server and even gave us a tour after our dinner. Michael came over to make sure we were happy with our food and service. You can not go wrong here, it’s impossible when the owners and Chef are from Providence. Can’t wait to come back!

I have been here a few times. Food is top notch. We had the Porterhouse steak for 2 and the key lime tart for dessert. Forgot to get pic of dessert. Service is top notch too!

The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable! Damon provided excellent service and was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We were there on our honeymoon, so we splurged and it was definitely worth it! The truffle Mac and cheese is to die for! It was a perfect honeymoon dinner!

My husband made a late night reservation for appetizers and desserts to celebrate my birthday. We came with two of our children and wonderful experience! Per our servers suggestions we ordered the onion rings and calamari, which were delicious. Each one of us enjoyed our dessert as well. Ask for Rendle if you can when making your reservation. He was such a delight.

Incredible experience. Our server made the dinner even more awesome. Tamas was on the spot, very personal and professional. He was timely and not intuitive. The cocktail and wine list is very extensive. You ask they probably have it. We started with the most amazing Lobster Bisque. Followed by the Blue Cheese Wedge Salad, this was delightful. Heck, we thought just the soup and salad could have been our meal. Next, the main course, I had the NY Strip, and my wife had the Filet Mignon, both prepared to exactly how we liked our steaks. Next was a surprise birthday chocolate torte. It was to die for and a great end to an incredible dining experience. Highly recommend Michael's on East, ask for Tamas you won't regret it. Enjoy

What a Gem!!! Michael's has a wonderful menu, a generous wine list, and great food. The venue is particularly pleasant and the service is terrific. We chose Michael’s on East for our Anniversary. We both were very satisfied with food, every meal we had was right on the point, tasty, well done and well presented. Great waiter Moosha! Very attentive to every detail and to us and our table. Checking on us every time he was passing by, we even got some complementary dishes because of our celebration. If you have any special events that you have to celebrate definitely go to Michael’s on East. LIVE piano was great, very talented musician. Recommend to ALL!

Such a beautiful place! There was a talented musician playing the piano during our meal. Nick was an excellent waiter. Very knowledgable on the menu and shared his favorites with us, which were top notch! We will definitely be back and will be asking for Nick again!

My friends and I shared apps and dessert here. Our server Richard was informative and efficient in bringing our food and drinks. He provided us with an amazing experience. We ended the meal with joining the Michael’s on East rewards program which will give us a discount next time we come in. We loved the support of the other staff in the bar area: Rick, Chris and Lara. Can’t wait to come back!

I was home on leave from the Navy for the holiday and came to visit my parents in the area. They recommended we go to this restaurant because of their last experience a few weeks ago, even though our usual holiday dining is with Fleming’s or Ruth Chris. I was blown away and this is now our go to whenever I come back next time for a visit! We were greeted at the door by one of the management staff and Carol, both were just the sweetest and Carol was so attentive to us to make sure we had the perfect table and the best waiter, Freddie. We got there early so we went to the bar for happy hour and Jackson made some of the best drinks we had ever had! Pictured is the Tequila Sunrise, the chocolate martini and the Moscow mule. They even let us try their homemade blue cheese olives, delicious! They then carried our second round of drinks for us to the table where Freddie and his assistant attended to our every need. They gave us a free prawn dish for each of us to try, the bread was phenomenal and the charcuterie board was to die for. We enjoyed the beautiful piano music by Buddy while we ate our fantastic dinner, Freddie ensured everything was just perfect and even did something special with the desserts to finish the dinner. I have never felt more like royalty at a restaurant and will for sure come back, as well my family and all the other people they tell about Michael’s on East. Carol walked us out to the valet and gave us plenty of hugs, as did Sonya who my parents met last time. Overall, incredible service, atmosphere, and a welcoming environment that made everything feel like home.

The team at Michael’s made my wedding at Selby Gardens absolutely amazing. Not a single bad thing was said from any guest about their food — everyone was overjoyed and loved their meals. My husband and I did as well! We will never forget the crab cakes. From the tasting to the night of the event, the event coordinator Amy was so easy to work with and very kind. The night of the event, we appreciated the service from Michael’s very much. They were so good at making sure we all had full glasses and a smile on our faces. They served the food hot and so fast. We were just truly so impressed. Thank you!

This premier restaurant lives up to its sterling reputation. We sat outside in the beautifully lit enclosed garden setting that is reminiscent of a lovely European courtyard. The wine list was extensive and service was excellent. Our server James was very knowledgeable and professional. The owner Michael came by to see how we were doing and of course had some fun vignettes about our local Sarasota High School. Most importantly the food was superb. Hands down this was one of the most delicious meals we have enjoyed in Sarasota or Chicago or New York for that matter. My escargot/lobster appetizer was incredible while my friend’s oysters were plump and delicious. My husband’s trout was wonderful as was the salmon and steak entrees that the rest of us had. The desserts were huge!! The entire experience was delightful. For an extra treat enjoy Michaels’s lunches at Selby Gardens and Spanish Point.

Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The atmosphere, the employees, the entertainment and food all top notch. I also wanted to give a shout out to the amazing server that went above and beyond, Rendle. He could show a few places what service is all about. Thank you for making our special night extra special. Will definitely be back. Shout out to Joe for singing me a song as I watched him play on the piano. Picture included. 😊

Best meal I’ve ever had. We went for Christmas Eve dinner. We both had lobster bisque, I had the Chilean sea bass, my boyfriend had the bone in ribeye and we shared the amazing peanut butter dessert. The wine list was amazing. Servers were perfect. We are going back for Valentine’s Day. Beautiful restaurant, perfect and relaxing way to spend the evening. Thank you!

Beautiful scenery, lovely music, delicious food, and amazing service. Freddy was our server, and he was extremely kind. I was a little sad about Kimberly’s treatment of new, bilingual employees. Thank you to Freddie and Homer for amazing help!!

We had a spectacular evening here. Eddie C was our waiter, and it was the level of service you had aspired to get when frequenting an establishment like this. We never had to worry about being forgotten or that our drinks stayed full, Eddie was very attentive and gave us good advice on navigating the menu to suit our tastes. The wife and I had filets, which were cooked exactly as requested and melt-in-your-mouth tender. I had opted for the lump crab topper, and somehow... someway, the crab shadowed the incredible steak. It was phenomenal. We also had the truffle Mac and cheese. I could've mainlined that bad boy straight into a vein. Dinner was capped with creme Brule and key lime pie, which were also knockouts. Plenty of seating if you consider there is a covered atrium as well as traditional inside seating. Honestly, depending on the season, the atrium may be the way to go. Both options have a gorgeous setting and live piano in the background. Good for special occasions or YOLOing it. It's definitely a must for fine dining in Sarasota.

My wife and I had two fantastic dinners here last week. The first was so enjoyable we decided to go again the next night instead of rolling the dice on something new. I had the NY strip and it seemed larger than the listed 14oz. Cooked perfectly and had great flavor, not over-seasoned. The potato croquettes were the perfect side and very filling. I couldn't finish my meal which is uncommon. Second night I had the colony snapper and it was one of the better seafood dishes I've ever had. All the ingredients worked perfectly together. In addition to the great meals are well executed cocktails and an absolute gem for entertainment. Joe on the piano with his great attitude and fantastic voice were the cherry on top. We enjoyed great service in the lounge both Friday and Saturday night from Nikolas and the other bartenders (I am terrible with names). We will absolutely be back again

Complicated because their catering is BOMB and the restaurant used to be superb. Especially their happy hour. I haven’t been since pandemic and coming back was both wildly underwhelming and disappointing. $20 for two mini sliders and $20 for a very small calamari. The salads are normal to small portion, small in American standards, and $19 with little to no oomph. Cocktails are still delicious. Waiters are all men now. Very New York vibe. The one female at the front with strawberry blonde hair in a braid was rude as heck. I’d opt for catering at weddings and their private event room.

Absolutely excellent restaurant. Ambiance, food, bar, service all top notch. Michael stopped by the table. Only restaurant better we've been to is Inn at Little Washington in VA, a 3 star Michelin restaurant Michael's ranks right up there.

Best meals I have had in this area. Every time I walk out full and happy. Fantastic vibes here. Looking forward to my next trip. Any steak option is excellent. Calamari amazing. Salads are good and generous. Pork chop a bit sweet but so moist and well cooked it didn’t even matter. Fantastic service to boot.

The food was amazing- We loved everything we ate. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is the service wasn’t on par with other high end restaurants. Our server was very nice but he was running around between outside and inside the restaurant. So I had to wait a little while to order another drink and we had to wait to get the bill. I am not blaming the server- I am blaming the Mgr who had him serving inside and outside while there were others just standing around doing nothing. They definitely had enough staff. The old fashion was far too sweet. I will definitely be back- But there is room for improvement.

We had an amazing birthday dinner at Michael’s tonight. We ate in the courtyard and the atmosphere could not be beat. Nick was our server and his recommendations and service was top notch! We started with the oysters and Mezze spread, and we could not decide which dip was our favorite from the spread - they were all that good. When we ran out of pita they brought us more so that we could eat more of the dips. My fiancé had the pork chop and every bite melted off the bone and he could not stop raving about it! I am a vegetarian and had the mushroom risotto which was also delicious. We finished with the brownie ice cream dessert to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and they played happy birthday on the piano when the dessert was served. Definitely a night to remember for us! Thank you Nick and the rest of the Michaels staff!
