😠 This used to be a great restaurant when it was owned by the Bassett family. I always look forward to dining in RI when I visit family. I was VERY disappointed. We were greeted by the waitress who told us they were out of baked potatoes and 3 other items. I ordered the chowder which was awful, greasy...

We enjoyed our meals. The best French onion soup I've had in quite some time. I had the smaller portion chicken Parm. Was a little on the thin side for me. My aunt had chicken as well, but standard portion. She stated her chicken was too thin somewhat and too crunchy on the sides, but overall was ok.

Took the family of six there (including 2 toddlers). Service was great. Portions were huge and reasonably priced. Took a lot home with us. Photo of Scallops Nantucket.

The food here is great - yeah, it's a little pricey, but the portions are big and the food is fresh and made well. Unfortunately, it seems like either whoever answers the phone can't take an order properly or whoever cooks and packs the orders doesn't know how to read an order. The Sam's Inn menu very clearly lists a hamburger with lettuce, tomato, and mayo, with the option to add cheese for an extra dollar. THREE TIMES now, I have ordered that burger with cheese, the last two times I specifically asked for lettuce, tomato, and mayo on it as well as the cheese, because the first time I ordered a "cheeseburger", I just got a burger with cheese and nothing else. TWICE I have double checked that it does indeed come with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. And BOTH TIMES it has come with nothing but cheese. Why is it difficult to make a menu item? I'm not sure, but I probably won't bother ordering here again. If I want my burger to be made wrong, I'll just go to Wendy's.

Decided to go there for Thanksgiving because of the diverse menu and having had good food in the past. Prime Rib was tough and stringy, good portion but not as enjoyable as hoped. Turkey dinner was good, potatoes, squash, and desserts were good. French onion soup was nothing special. Shrimp cocktail was nice and sauce was good. We were seated on time and our waitress was attentive to our needs without hovering. With a few drinks and dinner for 5, our bill was close to $320 before adding in a tip. Next year the search will continue for another restaurant or will just stay home.

This used to be a great restaurant when it was owned by the Bassett family. I always look forward to dining in RI when I visit family. I was VERY disappointed. We were greeted by the waitress who told us they were out of baked potatoes and 3 other items. I ordered the chowder which was awful, greasy on top and the bowl should never have been used to serve anyone with a huge chip. The salad bowl was also missing a big piece. I attached photos for you to see. The atmosphere is no longer what it used to be. The decor is cheap mass produced artwork. The owner’s daughter had family members or friends seated next to us and was loudly talking to them as if she were at home. my experience was so bad I will never eat here again.

Our server, David, made our dining experience truly pleasurable! He guided our choices with much patience and the Chicken with sauteed Spinach, Red Peppers, Mushrooms, Gorgonzola Cheese andBalsamic Deduction that was recommended was superb!
