This diner was opened in 1910 by Jimmy's uncle. Jimmy, his wife, and Angelo run it since the 1950's. The history is so fantastic to read about as the Alton Telegraph wrote a great article on this diner. For all you people who go gambling down on the boat please stop by and have breakfast, lunch, or a snack you can't go wrong at all. Parking was easy, food was cooked by Jimmy himself which was an honor to watch him cook. Angelo was our waiter and he was so attentive along with personal as well. This place is spick and span, which you can't even find in restaurants nowadays. They welcomed my service dog as well. Customers who I assume are regulars were so welcoming as well starting conversations with us. The menu is above the grill and the prices are more than reasonable to top off the breakfast. We ordered a 3 stack of pancakes with bacon, which were so big not to mention so flavorful and tasty. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with bacon along with sausage as I gotta feed Skippy my service dog too. These biscuits and gravy were da bomb, seriously the biscuit was so fresh, and soft too. The gravy was homemade along with the bacon had fabulous flavor. Found out from a Customer that Fridays are homemade chicken n dumplings by Jimmy's wife, who also makes the pies along with biscuits. We ordered to go homemade Chocolate and Apple Pie. Now the pie, oh lordy her Chocolate pie with a chocolate crust, chocolate not sure if it's a pudding or Mousee topped with whipped cream along with chocolate chips. The apple pie was just as good the crust was spot on and the apple filling was just right. I Wish we could have stayed for the Chicken n Dumplings, gonna have to make a road trip on Fridays just to get them soon. Not to mention they have shakes and sundaes. Diners like Jimmy's are dying out to chain restaurants we need support from our local people for fabulous family restaurants as they depend on our support. Did I mention they're a Greek family, of course, there are gyros too, gonna have to try them too.

What can you say, good hometown diner. I had a omelet and French toast ... delicious. I had a very favorable time in here. I expected greatness, and they excelled in all of my expectations, A+ diner. (Side note: I'm sometimes a stickler about gloves and they don't wear any just a FYI)

Was good, nice old diner feel, charming father son combo running this place. Pancakes were perfect, even adapted service for my wife who wanted a hamburger during breakfast hours. We will be back for another run. Thanks for the history.

This is the first place I have been to that actually made perfectly cooked scrambled eggs! Food was awesome and served within minutes, but wasn't pre-cooked. Extremely friendly staff. Decor is all near original 50s diner style with the jukeboxes at the table and a big one at the door. No paper menu - it's the original letter order above the grill. Counter seating with 7 booths. Its cash only but they do have an ATM. Absolute treasure!

First time customer today, absolutely delightful ❤ breakfast was perfect, handbreaded fried chicken with mashed potatoes 💯 (basically everything was cooked right in front of you). The family environment and the way they made you feel at home was beyond anything you will experience in the restaurant business. Please give this place a chance cause I guarantee you will be more then satisfied. This is the type of business we need more of.

This place takes you back in time. I love the vintage look and jukeboxes. The owners were nice and check on their customers. Food price is cheap.. They are old school they don't use cc machine only cash but they have ATM inside the restaurant. I'd still go back here if I'm in the area.

If you have a chance to go eat here, do it. It is great the pancakes are amazing I haven't had a chance to eat lunch there. The family had operated it since 1910 and I think they are pretty close to retiring so if you get the chance stop in and have a bite.

This 'classic' diner is sure to satisfy anyone looking for a friendly, casual, no-frills breakfast or lunch! The menu is surprisingly affordable in an age where breakfast alone can cost an arm and a leg. The biscuits and gravy are amazing!

This place is cute. The younger owner likes to banter w my father in law when we come in. He makes the visit interesting. Food is simple but good, points to note, there is no bathroom and cash only.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Super cool local place run by an awesome family. Nostalgic. Food was priced well and very good. Classic diner experience. Highly recommend.

This place is a gem in Alton. It is the epitome of a beloved family ran restaurant. Comfort food. But also Greek family that have delicious gyros. Personal father and son duo run the shop. Family pictures and personal touches around the diner. Older diner feel, but a beloved friendly neighborhood favorite vibe. This is the type of place you want to find as a local, or even a visitor, to get a sense of community. This restaurant has been in the family since 1910. The father and son are seen frequently working aside taking care of customers and are also having fun conversations amongst everyone. They're also very accommodating. If you love the unique familial ran style of restaurants in The Hill in St Louis, or as so much watch the television show, The Bear on Hulu/FX, I think this place will be a joy for you to visit and support.

Went to breakfast and had a traditional diner meal. Ham and cheese omelette, biscuits and gravy, and hash browns were delicious. The atmosphere made you feel as though you walked into the restaurant when it opened.

My wife and I took our little one there recently, and the food was absolutely amazing! When we first walked in, it took me back to when I was a kid, and my dad took me to a 50s-style diner. The old coin-op radios at the booths, the formica tables, the formica counter with the spinning chairs mounted to the floor, and the old pictures. The owners were very friendly, the place was quiet and relaxing. We recommend it, and we will be returning very soon.

Found this diner by chance and wow! So glad we ate here. I had a gyro and it was delicious. The owner made the pita bread from scratch! Right in front of me. Low prices but great quality. Chatted with the owner and son. Great people, great place.

Amazing! Old school: Excellent, friendly service & old prices but great food. Eggs cooked just right, sausage nice & juicy, hash browns perfect, even the white toast, just right. You don't get breakfast like this @ the franchises. Alton's best kept secret! It's well worth the drive across the river from Florissent, or even come over from Wood River for a short drive. If you're @ Pierre Marquette, ya gotta come here and check it out. Pineapple shake, what are you kidding me? Sign me up!!

My husband and I had breakfast and the food was great. It's a dad and son working the place and both were very nice. Very attentive, and every thing very clean. We will definitely be back.

I had not been there for several years. We had eggs with bacon and ham. Toast buttered with jelly on the side and a glass of OJ. Plus a very nice visit with Jimmy and Angelo! I will go back sooner then later.

Out of all the traveling I have done and local places I’ve ate at, this is seriously the best breakfast I’ve ever had! Family owned and established in 1910, truly inspiring for anyone who has a passion for an amazing atmosphere with some of the best food you can get at an extremely affordable price, they owners are always extremely polite and just love what they do, such a beautiful place all the way around!
