Terrible. Should’ve walked out when upon entering the restaurant it smelled like an old musty dirty basement. The walls and carpet are so dirty. This place is not nostalgic, it’s super run down and dirty. In the bar area there’s a closet without a door that’s got junk thrown in it. Just a dirty junky place. The service was awful. Just awful. Our waitress left the menus on the table for the whole meal and never refilled our ice water. Never told us about the specials of the day. There were two of us and only another table of six. Eight patrons total. Why is that important? Our food was served cold. Yes, cold. Cold mashed potatoes, cold veggies and cold chicken paprikash. My husband was served cold cevaps and mashed potatoes and veggies. Last time I was here was 20+ years ago. Not good then. Very bad now. The health department should shut this filthy place down. Go to Illinois for good Serbian food. Milwaukee just doesn’t have it. Two Brothers is not that great either. Same family, same problems.

Everything on the menu from the feta cheese to the house wine is homemade, which is rare these days, and it shows. So delicious, plentiful portions, and impeccable service. I highly recommend the homemade strudel, and the stuffed peppers are the best I’ve ever had. Pictured is the goulash, so tender and juicy. Fabulous.

Get the burek but share it. It's massive but hugely delicious. Crispy on the outside and comfort food on the inside. The lamb dish was fall off the bone and served with potato, dumplings, and kraut. So good! Throw back type seating and bar and the service was outstanding. The owner was still there cooking and cleaning up at close. Great family business baked in tradition.

Service was good - we had a new waiter, and he was slow, but he's learning and did the best he could. Food was just meh, it wasnt horrible, but it wasnt spectacular either Their menu prices are much higher than posted on their website (which should be updated) Dinner came with a pre-made tiny salad, very lightly (VERY) dressed olive oil, and a bread basket served with a butter-cream cheese spread and a tomato based sauce Will I go back? Doubtful

Great service and atmosphere. Husband loved his goulash. My mousaka was a little dry, not like I remembered it. Bottle of Dalmatian wine left no headache nor reflux like a lot of reds so. The sausage appetizer was great! This was on Christmas Eve, not attended heavily.

We went for a family style dinner for six. We were greeted and immediately taken care of. For appetizers we were served tomato salad with feta cheese and borek. For main course we tried chicken paprikash, musakkha, skewers with stir fry veggies and mashed potatoes. Absolutely loved the paprikash and borek. The mashed potato was very smooth which I liked. The food was more than enough for 6people and tasty. Highly recommend the restaurant!

The owner is very sensitive to any criticism so be careful, she will make your experience awkward. Be prepared to wait up to 2.5 hrs for food. You can get a good idea for her attitude in her responses to reviews below. Go to Three Brothers completely opposite experience.

A most sincere and warm thank you to Old Town from the Kovacich family for the simply wonderful private family luncheon we had today at your restaurant. It’s difficult to come across fine dining restaurants such as yours that resonate and feel as welcome as home; old world recipes that transcend generations paired with impeccable service and attention to detail. Can’t ask for more than this. In the course of 40 years of being fortunate enough to walk through Old Town’s door, their consistency and delicious charm has not wavered. A special thank you to Natalia and her entire staff for the love you share with others.

We used to dine here years ago when we lived in Milwaukee. In town briefly and decided to revisit. Still wonderful old school atmosphere. Food was great. The Burek alone is worth the trip.

Cheese Burek is excellent! We also had goulash (delicious, but cold. ) , Veal Provance, good but cold. Their soup, mashed potatoes, sides ALL cold. Not room temp, actually chilled. Drinks are horribly expensive and weak. Hi-ball in a very small glass $12. Glass of soda $8. Not acceptable.

I enjoyed great food, great service, and a nice atmosphere. Food was well prepared and, considering everything that goes into making it, done in a timely manner. I was impressed with the variety of foods and Balkan drinks available, the folks in charge do a great job sourcing things that I've looked for for quite awhile.

Four of us enjoyed the great service and fantastic food at Old Town restaurant Friday evening. It had been a number of years since we were last there as it had fallen off our radar. It was great to re-discover this gem of fine dinning! We started with the large Serbian appetizer and cocktails which was a perfect beginning and followed with entrees of Beef and Cheese Burek, Spinach and Cheese Burek, Chevapchichi, Stuffed Zucchini, and the delicious Serbian Tomato Salad. One Burek is probably enough for 2 people , however the left overs will be enjoyed! The prices are very reasonable and we highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a delightful Sunday lunch at a sidewalk cafe table with our dogs after mass at the Basilica of St Josaphat just down the street. This is an authentic old family owned Serbian restaurant and I loved everything about it...food, atmosphere, history. Highly recommended.

Okay experience. I have always wanted to try this place so since they were open Thanksgiving I made a reservation for two. We were seated about10-15 minutes after our time. Ordered a glass of wine and a Serbian beer and Bureks for dinner. Also two cups of bean soup. We received the drinks, soup and a small basket of standard bread with two spreads. The soup was very good, and the spreads were interesting. An hour passed- no meals, never got water or a return visit. FInally got our huge Bureks and each ordered another drink. and requested water and knives to cut the Burek The beer appeared but no water or wine. The Bureks were huge- enough food for 3 on each plate. They were okay but would not order it again- very salty. Finally got served the second glass of wine and some water after our meal was finished after I had gone to bar to request a glass of water. We did order one of the Panechuke desserts to share which was very good. Would I return? No. The bill was over 100.00 so we could do much better elsewhere. Food was uneven, service was basic at best( might be better on a non holiday). I had read so many great reviews that my expectations were high.Just okay.

Had plans to go Three Brothers but they were unexpectedly close, so we came here. Very quaint old school establishment. Service and food were very good. We’re traveling from out of town but would come back. I’m glad we gave them our business.

It's been over 10 years since we've been there. Our previous time made me think they were on the way out. Tonight... It was excellent! Serbian mousaka was fabulous. My wife had sarma... Also delicious. It's great to know Milwaukee is holding on to these culinary jewels.

Been a family favorite since my parents got married 42 years ago. It’s often quiet and I wish more people would be there. The Burek is so delicious and you can even pick it up to go, which I always do. Very authentic food crafted with love.

My wife and I have been huge fans of Old Town Serbian Gourmet for a long time and even had them cater our wedding reception. The food is uniformly delicious and made with great care by Natalia. Highly recommend for dinner out or for any special events. Would give 10 stars if we could.

Very much like and appreciate the owner... the staff is deplorable. My wife and I recently ate there for date night. The food as decent, but challenging to enjoy due to the rude staff. Would not recommend and will not return.

I've gone here for practically 3 decades. I've never had a bad experience. After the food, the best is their staff. They treat each individual diner accordingly. I really hope this great restaurant continues into the 2020's. I haven't gone to Old Town since May 2021, so I naturally worry! Please check out Milwaukee's great Southside, too.

Burak was excellent and the deserts were also amazing. Kabob dish was just ok. Chicken and stuffed Zucchini were bland. But the worst by far was the service. We were one of only two parties in the whole restaurant yet it took 30 minutes before our order was taken. Every step was like pulling teeth. We asked if sides come with the meals as none were listed for some of the dishes on the menu. Waitress said yes they come with sides and started to walk away. She acted like it was an inconvenience to tell us what the sides were. The wait staff really has zero training or knowledge of standard restaurant customer service. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with awkward and crabby waiters and order take out.
