At the time of this writing Haggerty has some of Tolkiens original works on display. Handwritten notes, types 1st drafts, revisions, sketches and more. No photos allowed to be taken. Very cool to nerd out seeing this many of the Professors work crafting his Lore and Legendarium.

Amazing collection Based on the current exhibits, you can see the museum in 25 minutes to 40 minutes, depending on if you read the provided information about each piece

Never really thought to go to this museum, but glad we did. It was fairly small, but had a lot of thought provoking and modern art pieces, and many from "popular" or famous artists. I think it would be great for a school field trip or someone just getting into the basics of art, as it has a lot of interactive elements and a good mix of pieces within its exhibits.

The Haggerty has many pieces I do not consider "art," but given it is a small university museum and not a large operation, I'm willing to overlook. Known for its religious Dali piece (pictured) and Marc Chagall's religious pieces, it's nice place to stop by when you're in the area. Also pictured "The Great Lakes Cycle" by Alexis Rosman. The curator, Lynne, is quite nice--willing to explain the pieces and walk you through the exhibition.

One of the better museums in Milwaukee and it's absolutely free. Put this on your must see list.

Loved the variety of art pieces here and the staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful and friendly. Will absolutely be coming back next time I’m in town!!

The Haggerty Art Museum is great. It's a small museum, but it is free to all. I enjoyed my visit. They change art exhibits every few months.

Best way to kill an hour in Milwaukee—if you can find a parking space. Always a wonderful, thought-provoking experience.

Very interactive evening. Lots of volunteers share their passion for the environment, art, counseling. I'll be back

I kept being followed and anywhere I went like a criminal. I have visited several galleries and never was treated this way. Workers of course should keep an eye, but I ended up crying after I left the gallery. Was it racism or just poor treatment from staff? I asked them what they were doing and they didn't even say anything. It was so dehumanizing. They could have followed me and conversed with me like a charming or attentive person if they were so worried. It was one of the worst experiences I had at a gallery, and I don't ever plan to go go back until they address their staff. I wouldn't exhibit here.

Great place but finding parking was not a walk in the park..

Small art museum that could be amazing or boring depending when you go. Because of the size the collection is always changing you either see a fully decked out museum or bare and uninteresting amalgamation of pieces.

Disappointed that I made the trip over. It was free, which is lovely, but didn't have much of a collection. Had an emphasis on modern art, but even this felt like a stretch (the main space was dedicated to a paper boat which looked like it belonged more so on the set of an elementary school play). The two exceptions were a rather interesting piece by Dali, "Madonna at Port Lligat" and a Warhol print.

Really nice museum. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition on soot.

Small but very nice. I happened to be versed in the issues surrounding the end of the Spanish occupation of the Netherlands and it was a neat treat.
