Here's the deal! The food was spicy good. This place is worth your time. I've had the food of the Southwest and it took me back to Albuquerque. So get your taste buds ready for the old Southwest. The decor of the restaurant was eye pleasing but yet not overbearing. The staff was friendly and kind and made you feel welcome. Side note it is always a pleasant experience to be in the presence of people who enjoy doing their job and doing what they love to do. It comes out in the service and in the food that is being cooked.

Life changing.... I had a full on spiritual experience over the country fried steak. The bacon was unbelievable. This dinner HAS NO RIGHT to be this good. Stop reading this, get in your vehicle, and go... Now.

Wow! I’m so glad we chose here for lunch at the recommendation of a friend. They were crowded and there was about a 20 minute wait. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather, and before we knew it we were seated! With how busy it was, I’m impressed that it wasn’t overly crowded inside the diner and the service was FAST. Our server was so friendly and complimented me on my Baby Yoda wallet and tattoo! They are so friendly here. I haven’t even mentioned the food—holy cow! It was DELICIOUS. Super flavorful and filling, warm and captivating. My two friends and I are chatterboxes to the max and we were all dead silent eating our food because of how much we enjoyed it! I wish I could give it 6 stars! I can’t wait to come back, hopefully soon.

Best breakfast I ever had. Their homemade breakfast sausage is the best, as is the biscuits and gravy. The spicy scrambled eggs and the home fries were also delicious. Prices very reasonable and the owner and our server were very friendly. Wish I lived near this place.

Overall, a good hearty brunch place if you’re feeling a more Texmex vibe. Join the waitlist before coming if you can! WAIT TIME: Came in for a 12pm lunch on a Sunday. HIGHLY RECOMMEND joining the waitlist before coming. We were told a 45 min wait when we walked in but were able to get seated on their heated patio within 5 mins of waiting thankfully. FOOD: We got the tamale breakfast plate and the huevos rancheros with a half order of biscuits and gravy. Everything was so delicious! You can taste the spices in the huevos rancheros meat and the tamale tasted pretty authentic. Potatoes were just crispy enough. Portions are large as well, we were pretty full in the end. SERVICE: Our waiter came by very very often, very attentive! He filled our coffees before we even ran out every time. DECOR: Very artsy decor in the patio, murals painted on the brick wall. Inside looks more like a diner but we weren’t in there long. PRICE: Came out to roughly $25 per person. Reasonable for brunch and for all we ordered.

First time having breakfast here. The restaurant opens at 8am on Sunday and when I arrived at 7:58am there was about 20 people waiting in line for the restaurant to open. I sat at the counter and a nice young woman greeted me with a big smile and a glass of water. I ordered the Medio with my eggs scrambled and their homemade sausage and a biscuit plus a cup of coffee. The restaurant filled quickly. I noticed they were using an ice cream scoop to measure the coffee grounds. That made me smile. If it’s effective go for it. The first thing I noticed was I ordered a lot of food. The Medio also comes with grilled potatoes. Everything was hot which I love. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were fluffy and not wet. The homemade sausage was tasty. There’s a spice in it that lingered on the back portion of my tongue. It was seasoned just right. Their potatoes weren’t oily and seasoned nicely. I saved the biscuit and until I was done eating everything else. The biscuit is different in a good way. It’s not flaky or heavy as traditional biscuits so I think they are purposely making their own version. It was crumbly and lighter so my guess there’s less butter/shortening. It tasted healthier. I received excellent service and I enjoyed the vibe and over hearing other people’s conversations. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

The two stars gained are strictly for the service because that was great but the food…TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!! The grits dish had absolutely no flavor like not even salt could help it. Then they put all the red sauce on there and it’s nothing but spice…still no flavor just hot. The burrito was edible but once again not a lick of flavor just BLAND!!!!! The coffee taste old even after watching them make a fresh pot. The Paloma I had was pretty good but the margarita was pitiful. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend

Southwest Diner is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch options in the whole metro area! I had been a few times before, but on a cold, snowy Saturday we rolled in with a big group after a move-in day. They were more than accommodating, and the hospitality from the host to the waiter was exceptional. The food here is killer, with some great portion sizes. The Mexican slant on most of the dishes is very unique and everything I've had is great. This is definitely a breakfast/brunch/lunch joint deserving of your business!

Solid breakfast spot! There was an hour wait on Saturday morning, so make sure you get on the list through Yelp before you show up. Really enjoyed my standard eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes combo. The pancakes are a little cornbread-y and were fabulous! My friend didn’t love the Birds in a Blanket, fun but she wouldn’t reorder. Definitely solid food, leans on the spicy side. Service was great!!

The great - service and courtyard. The outdoor seating is beautiful. Really. Love the wood and the gating and the artwork. The waiter was stellar. We had two unruly boys and he was so easy and accomodating. Also the sopapillas. Definitely real sopapillas and delicious. The just ok was the breakfast. I had some spicy pork thing with eggs and tortillas. The tortillas were fresh but I felt like I had a few lil hunks of pork swimming in gravy soup. Not impressed. Potatoes room temp and its hard to screw up eggs. I wanted to love it. Its perfectly fine.

First time here and the experience was rather poor. I am sure the food could be good and the place appeared really popular. When we arrived, the wait time was 30-45 min. After 45 min, we asked about our reservation and was told they had sent a text but no text had been received. We verified the number they had was correct. They placed us at a small table right at the entrance - one that was somewhat in the way of traffic and one I had noticed to be empty when we had originally arrived. Being busy, i figured that was the only space they had opened. I then went to wash my hands in the restroom and noticed six empty spots at the bar. Any two would had been preferable. I had thought maybe they were being reserved for a larger party but i was wrong. Soon after we were seated, the next few parties of two were seated there. We proceeded to order the chilote corn, grit tots, biscuits/gravy and an omelet. We received the corn relatively quickly. It took another 40 min for the rest of the food to appear. The only item that was hot was the omelet. The rest was cool if not outright cold. I had them take the biscuits-gravy back. They offered to make another but I just didn't have the time. The whole experience was pretty poor. We noticed that the folks sitting next to us had similar problems. When their meal finally arrived, they immediately asked for a to-go box and paid/left. Sooo... server was GREAT, place had a decent diner atmosphere and food had potential (cold grit tots and bisc/gravy sucked). I was told the omelet was good. All and all, experience wasn't worth the time nor price.

We sat outside in the shade on a busy Saturday morning and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were delightful and they basted the eggs to perfection. Our server was cheerful and pleasant.

The Southwest Slinger was excellent. The biscuits and gravy are homemade and super tasty. The menu has a lot of different and special items particular to the Southwest. Eclectic yet clean New Mexico vibe with a lot of decor. Even the staff were wearing southwest related shirts. I would come here every week. Coffee was great as well- bottomless Kaldis coffee- nice and strong local coffee!

If you love the diner atmosphere, and who doesn't, this place is a must-see. I chose to sit on the patio, but you can sidle up to the counter if you want to get the real diner experience. Their menu is pretty expansive and there are an abundance of breakfast and lunch choices. I had the huevos rancheros but it wasn't an easy decision. The bloody mary was nice and spicy, but they also serve Kaldi's coffee. Don't think twice, this is a great stop.

I had a great breakfast at the diner recently. I ordered the Grits on Fire and I quite enjoyed the layers of cheesy grits, Carne Adovada (red chili braised pork shoulder), a nd two over-medium eggs topped with a bit of cheese. There was plenty of very tender pork, the sauce was spicy (but not too much for this sissy), the eggs were perfectly cooked, and overall it was a great dish. I do wish there had been more cheese, but you can’t really go by me, because I would put cheese on cheese. My friend had the Barbacoa Fries (shredded beef on top of some good fries, with guacamole, pico and bit of cheese) - she added extra for sour cream - and she said it was really good. Coffee was just right. We were able to accommodate my friend’s one year old with scrambled eggs and sausage, so he was pretty happy. Cool place, fun decor, clean. There were plenty of tables (and some counter seating) - but they were totally filled by 9:45 on a Monday morning. Our waitress Charli was wonderful - attentive, patient, considerate, understanding that I was meeting my friend that I hadn’t seen in five years…. So, clean place, great service, tasty food that came out fast. I’ll be back! FYI, there is only street parking, but the diner is on a corner, so there are plenty of spots to choose.

The food was delicious! I had biscuits and gravy with eggs, my wife ordered Grits on fire. Both meals were delicious! (It’s a bit small inside)

Great menu, lots of gluten free options. Kind staff. We waited maybe 15min during the brunch rush hour on their outdoor heated patio. Well worth it!

Used to come here often before we moved out to of St. Louis and have been missing it. We’re visiting town and came over and as always it’s SO GOOD! Service, food and drinks, all really good. Relaxed vibe and the food… so good! They make my favorite gravy of all times, it’s just perfect! Today was a day for sopapilla plate and it was amazing! Always coming back when I can and recommend to everyone.

Did someone say brunch? Southwest Diner is a great spot to grab brunch if you are looking for Tex-Mex flavors. Not all of their menu is Tex-Amex inspired, and you can find traditional brunch options like biscuits and gravy and pancakes. I would recommend adding your name to the Yelp waitlist, though, since this seems to be a popular spot, and wait times can be long. The covered patio is a great place to grab a bite to eat, and it is dog friendly!

So good! Super packed on a Sunday afternoon but so worth the wait. Inside and outside seating on a covered patio. Service was top notch even when the crew was handling a mass of customers. Excellent food! Carne adovada was fantastic.

The good was delicious, the staff was amazing, and the atmosphere had such a cool vibe, I loved the decorations! I had the birds in a blanket and the calabracitas, which were well seasoned instead of being regular steamed vegetables!

Great atmosphere, the servers were friendly and fun! The food was out very quickly and the food was delicious! I had the fried steak and I highly recommend! Would definitely come back!

Ordered pick up this breakfast was delicious and flavorful. It's a different kind of breakfast not your typical meal. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. It was very tasteful I would recommend this plate. My girlfriend ordered the Grits on Fire. She loved it just beware it has a little kick so for you spicy people that want a kick this is a dish for you. Then we ordered the corn meal pancakes little skeptical at first because its corn but highly recommend this dish also. Great little place also has an outdoor patio I saw a Pug in there as I walked by so I'm pretty sure it's dog friendly ! Great Job keep up the great work 👍

It was my first time there. My bun ordered the biscuits and gravy. I ordered the Carne Adovada and a Bloody Mary. Both were absolutely delicious. Just enough heat to compliment the dish and drink. Everything about our dishes were so delicious. It was the kind of deliciousness that sadness sets in when the food is gone. I was ready to order another Bloody Mary, but our waiter never came back. (It was not that busy... just sayin') As a matter of fact, the staff that gave us the most attention was the waiter/server that appreciated my Japanese Steely Dan t-shirt. Maybe our server was having a bad day, and I can appreciate and understand that. I would have appreciated that second Bloody Mary more.

Found this place just passing through. Food is delicious and everything tastes like it’s made from scratch. The breakfast burrito with chorizo and huevos rancheros are excellent!

Amazing biscuit and gravy. Best I’ve had! Was super busy on this particular Saturday morning at approximately 10am. Wait outside. Ended up getting lucky and sitting at the counter right away. Will definitely be back.
