It's so big and a lot of trails to explore. There are a lot of different areas or "regions" to see. We went late fall so a lot of the water fountains were off or not running, and the colors were not as bright on the plants but still a go walk. The climatron was gorgeous inside and so much to look at. I would do that again and again. Tickets are reasonable, and parking is free. Wish they had better food options. Very limited, so we thankfully brought something to drink and snack on for ourselves.

Looked like a really beautiful place. I guess we shouldn't have been, but we were surprised there was an entrance fee. We were hoping to just wander around for a little while. We did check out the gift shop and there were many cute items. Parking was easy and that was free. If we are in town again maybe we can plan to spend more time there and the fee would be worth it.

Went to view their lights. Very impressive and well organized for the amount of people who are visiting. The parking lots fill up and while it may be intimidating to find street parking, I did get pretty lucky. Can’t say that the experience will be shared by others, but don’t feel overwhelmed! It’s a one way trail to enjoy the lights, so be sure to enjoy everything as you come across!

We came from out of town and seeing all the good reviews we decided to make this a place to stop. It did not disappoint. So many beautiful and unique plants, flowers and trees to see! Kids from 3-13 enjoyed their time at the kids garden too. We had lunch at the cafe and it was soo good!! Loved the view sitting outside to eat. We spent several hours and still didn't get to everything. You could spend an entire day there for sure. A place of serenity.

I recently visited the Missouri Botanical Garden during their Garden Glow event and it was a truly magical experience. The moment I stepped into the garden, I was transported into a world of enchantment and beauty. The Garden Glow event is an incredible display of thousands of twinkling lights that illuminate the garden in the most spectacular way. Every corner is adorned with colorful lights, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere that left me in awe. The attention to detail in the light installations is truly remarkable and it's clear that a lot of effort was put into creating this magical ambiance. Walking through the garden, I was greeted by a variety of themed displays that were both whimsical and breathtaking. From the dazzling light tunnels that led me to different parts of the garden, to the sparkling light sculptures that depicted various animals and plants, every turn was a delightful surprise. The garden truly comes alive at night during this event, creating a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. Aside from the enchanting lights, the Missouri Botanical Garden also offers various activities and entertainment during the Garden Glow event. From live music performances to fire pits where you can cozy up and enjoy a warm drink, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The festive atmosphere and lively energy added an extra layer of joy to the overall experience. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden during their Garden Glow event. It's a truly magical experience that will leave you with lasting memories. The combination of the stunning light displays, festive activities, and warm atmosphere make it a must-see attraction during the holiday season.

Went here with my girlfriend the weekend before Christmas. It was a cold, but magical night. The lights and displays were wonderful with a great atmosphere. Taking our time it took us about 2hrs to walk through everything. We had hot chocolate and s'mores by one of the fire pits. If they do it again next year we'll be there!

It’s being years since my last visit. It was awesome. If you have children, get ready to spend the whole day just in the kid’s area. We had a blast. So many activities! After the kids area my daughter was exhausted😂 We hopped in the tram ride to get to see the rest of the place. The garden roses are a paradise sample. Enchanting. Took awesome pictures of my daughter.

I am in town visiting family for Christmas, and the whole family bought tickets to walk through since looking at lights is an annual tradition for us, and many of us hadn't been to St Louis before! This was really amazing, I truly loved it! It was quite dark so that the lights could really shine through and it was beautiful. I'm sure the garden is lovely during spring and summer months as well! As we went through, I was sure to read as many of the normal garden signs as possible to learn about the trees and statues that were still visible in the cold. Everything about this place seemed so grand, and the grounds had a different light element in each different area. From what I hear, this sells out each year, so I am very glad we got to experience it as a family! I absolutely recommend this if you love looking at Christmas lights.

Absolutely gorgeous flora! The children's area was fun but not necessarily worth the extra cost unless you plan to stay for a long time. We especially loved the current art installation. Would absolutely recommend! --get tickets in advance, even if you're getting them for free

Note: If you are Missouri residents tickets would be half of the price. Bring your proof with you It was a beautiful space and everyone was so helpful in the lobby area. This garden is an absolute must-visit, offering a serene and picturesque oasis right in the heart of the city. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom during my visit, creating a breathtaking display of delicate pink petals against the clear blue sky. It was the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls and memorable photo opportunities. The garden's layout is thoughtfully designed, with well-maintained paths that meander through a diverse range of flora and themed areas.

I first visit back in the late summer during a blown glass exhibit; Chihuly items in every corner that were wildly complex and beautiful. I spent almost 7 hours on the grounds and met a very kind guide in one of the out buildings. We talked for an hour and he made me feel at home, educated me on some of the ceiling murals and told me where else to look for great exhibits. The gardens and all the butterflies and wildlife brought me a lot of warm, happy memories. Now that it’s right in my backyard, I’ll get a season pass for 2024. I can’t wait to spend more slow afternoons here.

Absolute perfection! The paths were smooth and meticulously cared for! No bumps or cracks or uneven spots to navigate, which makes this gorgeous garden totally accessible for those with mobility issues. The beds are thoughtfully designed and balanced for color and scale. We rented a motorized chair which was top of the line and reasonably priced. Top that off with the artistic placement of the Chihuly pieces and it was truly the finest botanical garden experience we have had!

The Chihuly Nights exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Gardens is really beautiful. They hand out glow sticks, provide a map, and have drink stations. There are quite a few installations to see. They spaced them well and positioned them in places that make it easy to get good photos. We went at 6:30. We were able see the beauty of the flowers while there was still light. As the light faded, the exhibits became lit. They truly take on a whole new dimension once they are lit up. Really great date night experience. This would also be a great group trip or family outing. Highly recommend it. On a side note, make sure to use the bathroom before you set out.

I have yet to have a bad experience at the Gardens. No matter how many people are there, or what events are going on, it's always a beautiful time. The grounds are well maintained, the staff is friendly, and there are so many cool things to see. Absolutely one of my favorite places to visit. Admission is reasonable, and memberships are definitely worth it

Beautiful gardens indoors and out. The Chihuly exhibit is fun and compliments the colors, textures and shapes of the flowers in bloom. Beautiful glass art pieces available in the gift shop, along with many other mementos and treasures. The organization is a great resource for botanical and horticultural information about native plants and many popular species available from the nursery trade.

So much to see - absolutely beautiful. Family friendly - they have a whole children’s garden/play area and wide paths. Even trolley tours if you or your family members need that. There is something new to see every time you go. Very friendly staff and they have a cute gift shop at the end!

A really nice family friendly garden. Current under renovations to welcome center area, looks like a big project that will be amazing when completed. We came on Juneteenth for a free day at the gardens. They often have gardening workshops and the kids area of the gardens is amazing! Tons of fun things to play on, a slash pad, and more! Would come back just for the kids area!

This place is a REAL gem in the heart of St Louis. Though it isn't free like many of the public attractions, it is WELL worth the cost, particularly if you live here and get a membership. They change the shorter-lived flowers and such throughout the season, so there is always something new going on. Additionally, the special events (Culture festivals, Garden Glow, Orchid Festival, etc.) are so, so much fun. We didn't expect to enjoy orchids in the middle of January, but WOW were we surprised.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is truly one of the most spectacular gardens you can visit anywhere and one of the top places to go in St. Louis. Whether they've got an exhibit going or it's just the "normal" experience you're sure to have a fantastic time in this picturesque location. The photos in this review are from the 2023 Chihuly Exhibit. There are plenty of restrooms scattered about the Garden, as well as many benches if you need a rest or would just like to sit and contemplate your surroundings. I would recommend setting aside at least 2-3 hours for a visit, more if you want to see everything at a leisurely pace.

Great place for a break from time in the city! Huge variety of gardens, plants, and landscapes. Their tropical garden inside the geodesic dome is particularly impressive. Everything is labeled, and in their (massive) home gardening area they have information about each plant as well. Their maps are clearly marked as well Good place for all ages and abilities - it's big but they have an electric trolley tour to help get around if you need it, and ramps for stroller and wheelchair access. Several restrooms throughout the gardens. They also have a sensory garden, a children's play area, and an activity area and quiet room by the dome.

The Missouri botanical gardens is a true gem and a must-see attraction in St. Louis. The new visitor center is a wonderful addition to the gardens. The grounds are so well kept and there is something for everyone. The kids play area and water splash pad are wonderful for kids to enjoy. We enjoyed a stroll photographing hundreds of varieties of trees and flowers. It was peaceful to see hundreds of flowers. When we visited, there was “chihuly in the garden” exhibit and it was spectacular during the daytime. I recommend people to use the overflow parking lots and walking over to the gardens as the main parking lot gets full often. The food in the sassafras cafe restaurant is absolutely mediocre, i would avoid if you can. Otherwise, an incredible jewel of St. louis that needs to be treasured and protected.

I've been a member of St. Louis Botanical Garden for many years. I love this place. We come to visit every season. Botanical Garden always has events for every taste. But even without events, it's a beautiful place to be. We always bring quarters to get food for birds (ducks and geese) and fish.

This is just a review of the Garden Glow for the Holidays. It's open until 10pm, so the later you go, the less crowds. When we were leaving at 8:30, it was considerably thinning out. Lots of very cool light displays. Very organized as you are directed along a route. The regular garden displays are not open. Only a portion of the garden is lit up.Nice photo opportunities set up along the way. It's a little expensive but worth the money at least once. Also a great way to get some fresh outdoor air at this time of year.

The Missouri Botanical Gardens is like an oasis in the middle of bustling St. Louis City. Though it is a ticketed entry ($14/adult for non-STL residents), it is worth every penny (especially when you're saving on all of the free things to do around the city). We took our teenager at the end of summer, who is big into science and biology. She left saying that she was only familiar with maybe 10% of what she saw before visiting the gardens. There is a wide variety of plant life all throughout. The gardens and walkways are meticulously manicured, all amenities sparkling clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and the giftshop well stocked and making you want to spend more and support the gardens. I LOVE that there are multiple spots throughout the garden where you can purchase small plants. 🪴 There are resources for the seasoned gardener as well as beginners and students. Love the various sections of the gardens and how well marked they are. There are free days to visit and a summer-concert series, as well as various special ticketed events. I hope to become a member in the future when I have more time to visit. The membership is affordable and will keep you coming back again and again to enjoy the natural beauty.

Pictures to come but this place was fantastic. We will definitely bring our kids when we visit St Louis again. We have been to many other attractions but this was the first time my wife and I came. We were walking for over 2 hours around the site and feel like we could have spent more time there if we wanted to. If we had our younger kids certainly would have been an all day affair. If you enjoy some history and love flowers this is definitely the place for you.

I love the integration of the glass art in the botanical garden. I have been to many in my travels and this one was most definitely unique in its own right. But even without the glass art, they have different types of gardens to visit and lots of diversity. A must-see!

What a magical place! We had a lovely time. 3 hours wasn't enough, I could have stayed all day. Bonus that our food from the cafe was also delicious and had the nicest staff ever. Huge thanks to the staffer who told me about how the wooden table was made from a tree that had to be removed from the garden, that was cool to know! One of the best botannical gardens I have been to in the country!

We went to the Garden Glow last Wednesday, and the Garden looks great! The new lobby and front steps blew me away with how amazing they looked. Everything looks so open and modern! I am a big fan of Glow, and of the garden in general. I love how it's set up, and the sense of peace and calm I get from being among all the flora. The new gift shop looks awesome, and I really like all the learning opportunities presented to guests throughout the garden. This is a St. Louis gem that we are so lucky to have!

Went to Glow lights. Was really nice, cold but nice. Only down fall was they take no cash at all. Only Credit/debit cards. They have a machine you can put cash in and it gives a pay card to use. So if you put $30 you have to use it all there. So unfortunately we were unable to buy hot chocolate, s'mores or any other items they sold. An advance notice on website or even at the door would have been nice. We'd definitely go again. The kids gad lots of fun.

5/5. It was a very cute little place for a date. My gf was visiting and we decided to come to this place. We've been to many botanical gardens back in California. It was nice to get some steps in and enjoy the various plants. The tickets were easily purchased online and the checkin process was extremely simple and quick. Highly recommended to come here for your annual dose of pollen induced allergies.

ORCHID SHOW 2024 Last day of show. Crowded & slow moving at 1pm. Not a problem as it kept the pace slow so as to pause & 'get stuck' at each flower! Never really felt in a hurry so easy to linger to get pics. Prettier & more abundant than I anticipated. Very enjoyable.

What a wonderful way to spend a day. Easy parking on site. Visited on a Saturday. Good mix of both shades and sunny areas to view a multitude of plants. We have found new plants and old that we are now interested in to plant in our own garden!

Wow! An amazing assortment of plants that bloom at various times of the year, ensuring that regardless of when you go, there is something to see. The inclusion of the glass displays adds a wonderful dimension to the experience. Be sure to ask the attendant for a suggested route and locations of all of the glass exhibits to ensure that you see all of them.

Wow! We drove across the state to see the Chihuly exhibit, which is about to end there. We were certainly impressed. It lived up to our expectations in every way. It was truly wonderful to see. It was also our first visit to the Missouri Botanical Garden, and it became readily apparent why it is considered as one of the three best botanical gardens in the world. It has 79 acres of some of the most beautifully designed and meticulously maintained gardens that I have ever seen. If you've not seen it, I suggest that you make the effort to go there.

Can't wait to come back in late spring when more is in bloom. The gardens are massive, you could spend all day enjoying and exploring. Beautiful well kept grounds take you on a journey. We went for Garden Glow to see the Christmas lights! It was beautiful! The adults and kids both loved and enjoyed it! I have never been to the gardens during the day but I can't wait to go back, see everything in the daylight, and update this review. I highly recommend going to the Garden Glow!

I've been going to the gardens with my mom and kids since the 90's. Love it, always a good time and you always see something new! This was our first time at the orchid show and it was worth the wait in line! If you can't walk through the gardens outside though, I don't think it would be worth the 55 minute drive or the admission fee. But luckily, we had a gorgeous February day and my 88 year old mom can still walk the gardens! We are blessed that way.

It was a beautiful space and everyone was so helpful in the lobby area. We happened to go on a festival weekend (Japanese) and it was so much fun! I know my family has already talked about going back in different seasons to see how it changes. Also -- there are various restrooms, water fountains, and indoor exhibits to see besides the lovely outdoor garden paths.

Words elude me when thinking of what to say about this garden. It is amazingly beautiful and well maintained. There is so much to see. Strolling around taking in the beauty and listening to music really hit the spot. Friendly staff overall. Going into the various buildings and really exploring nature is a must when in town.

I absolutely recommend anyone that lives in the local area goes here at least once. It's beautiful, clean, and extremely well-kept, and it's the perfect spot for dates or relaxing. The Chihuly Glass exhibit is stunning, and in the winter their Christmas display is a must-see as well! Come to the Gardens at least once if you're in the Metro area!

It's spectacular. There is not much more to say. It's reasonably priced for admission. It's beautiful, the views from the random spots you can sit along the way around a particular area are all great. If you use the train, the drivers are all great and super knowledgeable about the flora. The glass artist that was on display had some stunning work.

The garden is beautiful all year round! It’s beautifully maintained, you can do it in an hour if you need to but could easily spend much more time. Went here during a visit with my Brother and desired fall colors. Back in Jacksonville, Florida we aren't able to fully immerse ourselves in this beautiful season. And was I ever delightfully surprised at the peaceful trails, variety of landscapes, wildlife and lots of gorgeous trees and colorful foliage. A truly memorable experience!

This is one of favorite places to walk, listen to music or a podcast or just walk in silence. I enjoy each season but especially spring and fall. There is always something new besides the old favorites including some glorious trees and flower beds. New but closing soon was an origami sculpture exhibit. And of course the people watching is excellent- families, couples, older folks (like me), a good variety of people all enjoying the beauty of nature. There were even two weddings setting up. The Botanical Gardens also has interesting history! Remember your sunscreen and water. And enjoy.

Absolutely stunning! We enjoyed our time here. You can easily spend half a day walking around, seeing all the different areas, taking in the Vitamin D, and enjoying all the sounds and smells. Each area of the gardens is beautifully designed. We were amazed at how far the garden kept going and just how much there was to see. We loved seeing all the varieties of plants, especially the ones that smell like maple syrup! Our favorite part was the dome and being able to see the difference varieties of plants, fruits, and vegetables in there. The design inside the dome was phenomenal and there were so many amazing things to see everywhere we looked. Wonderful place to spend the day!

We went and saw the glow exhibit at the botanical gardens and let me just saw it was completely worth it!!! It was easy to buy the tickets online and have them on my phone ready to be scanned at the counter to get into the program. You do have to wear masks indoors but outdoors you do not. Parking was easy and free. They have a parking lot with guides to help you park in spots. The whole experience took us almost 2 hours to go through. For sure a staple to see for Christmas time!

We have explored many botanical gardens in the USA and this is such a lovely gardens! There is plenty to see and a wonderful place to walk around for hours! The greenhouse was nicely done and all their various landscapes and flower beds were beautiful, even in the autumn! You saw workers and volunteers scattered around, it was a very well cared for place! The staff were all very friendly! We were visiting from out of town and wished we had more time than the few hours we had to explore these lovely gardens. Highly recommend.

By far the best botanical garden I've visited. We loved the variety, and the Chihuly exhibit just added to the experience. The $15 admission was well worth it. If I was a local, I would certainly get a membership so that I could enjoy these gardens frequently. We spent almost 3 hours there, but could have easily spent a whole day there.

It is absolutely worth visiting for many reasons. Thousands of plants from far away lands. Great staff, walkable gardens. Cool mini stories about big and small plants. Art exhibit (Chihuly) trying to hide in plain sight, but you can spot them if you look hard 😉 ...or not. I think they should focus less on the founder because of his racist actions and focus more on the job they are doing right now and their achievements.

First visit to the gardens. It was fantastic. We chose a warm day but the staff was friendly and very kind. The sights were beautiful and the learning experiences were great. My 6 year old really enjoyed the sight, touch, smell areas where she was able to physically dive into the plants am textures. My 11 year old loved the blown glass fixtures throughout the garden.

Delightful and refreshing was my visit. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and plant specimens were varied and well taken care of. I suggest to be a friend of the use their golf cart ride to tour the gardens. My brother in law is a biologist and uses their data base to do research and always praises how complete it is.

Went to see Chihuly nights. Arrive between 6-6.20 p.m. so you can watch the video of his installations coming to life. It is a big park so if you have handicap persons, they do have power scooters, but reserve in advance. The wildlife mixed in with his sculptures makes this a ticket worth buying. When the sun goes down, the lit up sculptures are really a sight to behold.

We enjoyed our nice walk around the grounds seeing all of the interesting art sculptures and blown glass art that was mixed in with the beautiful flower, succulents, and more. Definitely recommend if you are in the area or visiting.

Great attraction. Really big; we were there for 6 hours. Lots of sections ranging from a Japanese garden, to greenhouses, to even gardens like you'd grow in your yard. We rode their shuttle for an extra $5 that allows on and off all day to get to different areas. We even attended a short talk on best practices in gardening. There's a waterfall and an effigy to Henry Shaw. Food is available for take out or sit down.

Very impressed. It's huge with a wide variety of theme areas. We didn't have kids with us, so I didn't do more than a quick visit to the children's garden. It looked like a lot of fun. There were other areas that appealed to kids & allowed them to play. Great value!

Well worth the money. The place is very tranquil and the gardens are well kept and beautiful. There is a lot of walking involved if you want to see everything but you won’t be disappointed. A staff member told us it’s about 1.5 miles to loop around the gardens and add another half mile if you walk the Japanese garden. There is a narrated tram tour as well for a fair price. The Chihuly exhibit currently on display is an added bonus. I’ve been here a few times over the years and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

It is absolutely breathtaking and spectacular! We arrived at 3:45 & the ticket guy said if you wait until 4, it's half price! So we hit the gift shop and came back. We didn't get to go through it all, but what we did see was beautiful. The Chihuly exhibit was going, and the placements were stunning throughout the garden. If you have an afternoon or day, definitely see this!!

My mom and I spent ALL DAY here. It was so worth it and so amazing. The gardens are immaculate and there is so much to do and see. The signs and information are so well done and all the little hidden details through the garden are absolutely idyllic. The Chihuly exhibit was ethereal and otherworldly. I had the grandest of times.

Gardens were lovely and tranquil. However, it is extremely difficult to navigate for someone like me who has no sense of direction. One of the main buildings has a sign for renovations by looks like no work has progressed. The gift shop has lovely plants you can buy that can be found throughout the gardens.

Favorite botanical gardens. I've been to several city botanical gardens. Absolutely stunning. Love the flowing walkways to see the different gardens. What a privilege to have the Chihuly exhibition in summer 2023. Fabulous displays. I will say after dark (really dark) very hard to see and you feel like it's a maze of blind hide and seek. Some lighting on the displays seemed to be aimed in the wrong direction. Nice gift shop. Lovely gifts like jewelry, scarves, decor, and yes live plants. They could have much better vibrant color postcards of the Chihuly installations. Even 5x7 size. Sassafras Cafe is great. We had a glass of wine 🍷 and snack. Plenty of seating everywhere. You'll thoroughly enjoy your visit to these gardens. No disappointment. It's a gorgeous place .. day in the garden of 💐 flowers and green plants. Enjoy!!

This is an awesome botanical garden. It’s very large and there is lots to see and do. We spent a couple hours there and didn’t cover as much as I would have hoped. I would definitely want to come back if I had the opportunity to. There are lots of different garden themes, ponds, and exhibits. It’s really beautiful and well taken care of. It’s perfect for plant and nature lovers! The Japanese festival aspect was really cool as well. There were some fun food options and a lot of people dressed up for it. It was fun to see a celebration of Japanese culture at the gardens. Because we went during the Japanese festival, it costed a little more- about $16 a person (special discounts didn’t apply during this particular weekend). It’s usually $14 a person though. We waited just a few minutes to get in because we bought tickets in advance. I would recommend buying ahead if its a busier time or a festival is taking place. I have heard weekdays and mornings are not quite so busy.

We visited the Missouri Botanical Gardens on a Saturday. The gardens had so much to see. I don't think we got through it all before we got tired and left for the day. I would definitely go back. I liked seeing all the butterflies, caterpillars, and koi fish.

Had a wonderful time. Love that there's plenty of space to walk. And the bathroom strategically placed across the gardens from the entrance is genius. The wheelchair made our day possible for all. My favorite spot was the wind chimes in the little garden, and loved the ceiling in the museum as well. 💗

Always a joy to visit these gardens! We went specifically for the Chihuly exhibit. We had lovely weather to walk the two mile path to see the whole experience. I did see there was a tram if walking is difficult for you.
