Leigh Yawkey is a tremendous asset to the community in terms of art and culture. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is an amazing FREE place to appreciate multiple types of art. My husband and I visited on a Friday morning; it was not busy when we arrived and we were greeted at the door and the kind volunteer explained the different areas of the museum to visit. We enjoyed everything from a nature exhibit, to art focused on water, to recycled art made from stuff in a landfill. It was easy to move around in the museum and appreciate all the art! We also enjoyed briefly visiting the sculpture garden on the roof and outside (it was a very hot day), and finding a place downstairs to make your own art… and another exhibit! The roof has a beautiful view of the city! We spent 3 hours leisurely enjoying the exhibits. All of the employees were incredibly friendly and the building itself was gorgeous. We will be back again to see new exhibits. Even though it is free, be sure to drop some money in their donation boxes to keep the museum going.

What a beautiful museum and community space. The exhibits here are just played with care in a bright and open area with a good flow allowing for visitor to spend time looking and understanding each piece. There are sculptures outside along with garden Walk surrounding the museum, and indoors multiple levels of exhibits and a playful art space for children. Plan more time then you think you'll need! This is a Wausau gem.

A wonderful museum with a delightful focus on birds mostly herons, ducks and owls. It doesn't cost a thing but please, if you can donate whatever possible and bring the kids.

Glad there is exhibit in town to check out. The avian art is nice. They have some Goulds and Audobons, which are popular. Excited to come back for the art glass show in March.

An amazing museum. The staff were extremely helpful and patient with us as we asked several questions. Very clean and professional. The evening we were there had live music and a lecture by the in-house artist. I loved the outdoor sculpture garden too. If you’re in the area you should really make time to visit this FREE museum.

Great little museum. Lots of great exhibits to walk through and observe. They have art outside in a garden as well as art on the roof. An exhibition of art from some of the local high school students was there and I was blown away by the talent. Lots of unique items shown and something neat at every turn. Also a great section for children to interact and learn.

Really wonderful local museum in Wausau. Some great exhibits. Today was a Molden Glass exhibit and some other nice ones, including outside art. Lots of kids on site, and they have class rooms for them.

Birds and hats! Located in a beautiful neighborhood of Wausau, a short walk was available year round, and the exhibits were beautiful! The staff was helpful, and the children's portion seemed like a great addition to curious kids.

A wonderful gem located in downtown Wausau. We were excited to see the bird exhibit and walk the sculpture garden in the snow. I especially liked the room where you can touch things. It’d be a great place to visit in the summer for the rooftop garden.

What a fun place to visit! Has a sculpture garden and one on the rooftop too. The display was Molten glass artwork and Abundant future which was farming. Interactive thing for children to do. Ipads were offered to see the(AR) pop up vision that the artist has. Elevators and lots of restrooms available. Free admission and a donation box at the door if you would like to do. Sept. Will be Birds In Art. The theme changes occasionally.

Wow what a beautiful space and collection of artwork. Free to enter, but there are places to donate.

Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is consistently awe-inspiring. We began with a stroll through the immaculate statue garden, impressively clean despite the fall season and its usual leaf cleanup. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted, informed about ongoing exhibits, and guided on coat placement—a seamless welcome. The building's aesthetic is simply breathtaking, marrying stunning architecture with even more captivating artwork. It's an experience that warrants dedicating a few hours of your time. I highly recommend it, especially for parents; their children's area in the basement adds to the allure. I'm eagerly anticipating a return visit in summer to explore their rooftop display in the warmer weather.

Another wonderful show with skilled artists in different mediums displaying beautiful works of bird art. Don't miss the duck decoys in the lower level. These are so lifelike, they will never be in water!!

I resolved to visit more local art museums and I'm so glad I did. This was a lovely experience. So much variety. I went back a second time because I hadn't allowed myself enough time to enjoy all the art. The Birds in Art exhibit is amazing as expected. So much variety and talent. The Paul Rhymer sculptures were definitely worth the second trip, especially after I purchased the exhibit book and read more about the process and more. I highly recommend getting the books. Such a great way to remember and learn more and so reasonably priced. I brought my parents from out of town the first time. They are not big art museum people but they really enjoyed the museum, and the outdoor sculptures. There are so many nooks and side rooms to explore. I hadn't been to the roof top sculpture garden before and I really enjoyed it. Quite the view as well. The permanent collection display, which changes regularly, was such a breathtakingly immersion into the Sea. I almost wish I had waves and ocean music playing, but I could almost hear it anyway. Just lovely. I was surprised to see the Owen Gromme little watercolor because I'm so used to his larger wildlife works. Delightful. I also loved that they had a touch room with braille descriptions of various bird sculptures. What a wonderful offering. The children's area looked so fun as well. Interactive art activities just there for exploring the art. Luckily children!! The cost is free, but donations are of course accepted. There's a box at the door. The greeting docent was very nice. There are maps, seating stools for the galleries, magnifying glasses, elevators. Nice bathrooms and a coat room. The gift shop is small, mostly previous Birds in Art exhibit books, posters of Birds in Art, stickers, cards and postcards.

Went to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art museum during Arts In The Park weekend. Even the spider got in on the fun in the roof top garden.

Always wonderful exhibits. Our favorite is the annual "Birds in Art" exhibit that starts the weekend after Labor day. Many different mediums are featured but attention to detail is always present. Beautifully displayed in a peaceful setting that isn't over crowded with friendly staff ready to assist when needed. Be sure to visit the roof top sculpture display for the art & a terrific view. We enjoy a stop at the nearby Red eye brewery afterwards for a craft rewed beer & locally sourced food.

We love this museum. They make every effort to be very kid, friendly and welcoming. We love the art kits that they prepare, based on each exhibit for children to do at home, as well as the myriad of art supplies available in the Children’s Area in the basement. The materials available change with each exhibit and are super engaging and developmentally appropriate for kids. The sculpture garden is awesome as well and they even have two sculptures the kids are allowed to sit on. The rooftop area is beautiful as well.

My husband Nick & I love going here. We always enjoy walking around the garden with sculptures outside along with everything inside. We really enjoy going downstairs to the kid's arts & crafts area.

Beautiful, well-kept building with sections for their current exhibits. There were three at this time. About 30 mins inside, give or take. There's a pretty sculpture garden outside, too.

(I'd swear I already had a review on here, I think some of mine get deleted from time to time) Always one of our favorite places to go. You can always find great bird artwork here, but we've also seen blown glass, Escher, and now hats from around the world. Great exhibit! I especially liked the headgear with old coins, the ones with faces, and (of course) da Yooper dog hat, lol. Free to get in (they do accept donations), plenty of parking, and lots of great artwork! It's always worth a trip here. There are currently 4 gyms and several Pokestops here for the Go players as well, all accessible from the parking lot.

Free museum with permanent and rotating displays. Textiles & reclaimed art right now which were interesting. There is also a few interactive areas for kids/adults to create. Great place to stop for a couple hours.

👍👍 This is a nice park. I really like the aviation theme. It is the only park I've seen with a play control tower or much more a vintage A-7D Corsair II fighter jet.
