This place worth five stars! I’ve tried the scotch egg, Irish stew, and my husband had classic fish n chips and a cup of black beer. Both of us like the food! It made us feel comfortable and warm. Actually it’s my first time dining in an English restaurant. The atmosphere is amazing. There are flowers on each table. The light smell of rose was just a hint and could level up the dining experience. The only thing might be improved is that the service is relatively slow, because they only have two people working during lunch time. But nothing to complain about because they are really nice people, sweet and friendly. Strongly recommend!

First time here. They have a nice selection of beers and the food was good. We had the fish and chips and the Thai curry chicken. The service was a little slow but not unbearably so as there were still quite a few people with just one server. She was still doing a pretty good job.

I checked out Phileas Fogg’s recently and they have a comprehensive menu of British Pub favorites! Even Tikka Masala and lasagna which are commonly found on pub menus in the UK. I ordered the Traditional Fish & Chips and it was very good. The chips were chunky style and perfectly hot and crispy. Better than the chips I had at Shakespeare Pub not long ago. The fish is made with a large center-cut filet of beautiful white cod. The beer batter is very tasty and crispy although easily sloughed off the fish unfortunately. Comes with cole slaw and tartar sauce. The vibe here is decidedly more dive bar than it is British Pub. Service was rather impersonal and surly. Maybe they’re nicer to regulars.

Here is the problem... First beer was good but the next beer smelled like a roach. Probably they didn't clean the glass or the 2nd batch of beer was bad. However they didn't charge for the 2nd beer but I already tasted it. That's why 2 stars.

Great service and food! They have a very expansive menu, with plenty of options for kids! Good outdoor/patio seating, with a cool pub vibe. Definitely recommend!

The fish & chips were very good, with one large piece of perfectly fried Cod, chips were decent. Tartar sauce was great. The coleslaw was to die for. The Best I've had in a long time.

Wow! What a hole in the wall. Came in, and who I assume is the owner, greeted us. She was so sweet and kind. Service was excellent and the food was incredible! Excellent beer menu. I can't believe I never knew about this place. My brother-in-law is from England and has been quite homesick. We have been trying British restaurants left and right and we were excited to come home to tell him about this place. Can't wait to come eat here with our entire family! Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars.

Had a rather disappointing experience with the service today. I visited the restaurant twice before today and always received a rather cold behavior upfront from the server. Hence, I didn’t tip. Today when I came, I was confronted by the server on why I hadn’t tipped earlier, to which I replied I didn’t wish to as the service was not polite. On further discussion with the manager (drunk at the time) outside the restaurant, he started abusing me and stated servers have to be tipped in California. Upon encountering verbal abuse, I refused to talk to him further and walked away. Quite disappointed and rather shocked with the disrespectful conduct of the management. Also, to note, during the discussion between me and the manager, at least 3 people came from inside the restaurant (all again drunk) to abuse, without knowing any context. It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure and uphold a respectful environment, quite disappointed with the situation.

Wings, Philly cheese and gravy chips (fries). Good food and good service. Toss in a couple beers and the cookies aren't bad either.

Great food. Nice beer selection. Excellent music selection playing. All of the traditional pub food we've tried has been great. The pot pies take a while but are worth the wait.

Really good food and beer. The service was great, accommodating despite difficult covid restrictions . Made sure we were warm with heaters, gave great recommendations and made good conversation. This was our first time in and we’ll definitely be back. 8 thumbs up from my family :)

The fish and chips here are pretty amazing. Unlike most places, batter on the fish isn't thick and greasy. It's light and crispy as well as the fries

This place is a little hole the wall. It has a funky smell going on like a dorm room or frat house. I was actually getting a nervous about the food until it came. The fish and chips were fantastic home made chips very nice.

Over from UK for air show at Miramar and didn’t know what to do for dinner. Googled restaurants near us. Tucked away down bottom was Phileas Fogg's. Been to advertised English pubs before in USA and got to say some owners have their own ideas regarding English pubs. Wow!!! This place was spot on. The food, the beer, the staff and more importantly, what everyone usually gets wrong for an English pub atmosphere, the locals. So friendly and welcoming ( even though yours truly won $65 on their raffle) And believe me, you will not get a better Steak & Kidney pie anywhere in England, also the Heinz Baked Beans are genuine. We will be back again before we leave to try the Bangers and Mash. Excellent.

Pretty good food and good drinks. The prices are reasonable on a service is great.

Great beer selection, but what really sets then apart is the traditional British faire: the pot pies, bangers and mash, and Sheppard's Pie are top notch. Great place to catch a game!

Love the laid-back local vibe. Great food & beer. And if you like it spicy, the stuffed habaneros are very good!

This is a regular stop for our lunch group Excellent fish and chips (with choice of fish and half order options), real bangers and mash. All your favorite british comfort foods, including mushy peas (if your into that sort of thing). Also real good lasagna for the person in the group who doesn't get british food. Finally a very solid beer selection.

Cold beer plus a nice selection, always a plus! Fish and chips are tasty! However skip the banana wrapped in pastry dough dessert. The banana did not have a good flavor, probably not ripe. Maybe the cook likes green bananas. I liked their house policy, plainly posted on the walls, to take/make your cell calls outside.

Hidden treasure of a great bar. The food is surprisingly good and if you like spice, get the hottest wings they offer.

  • 5/5 Kevin L. 1 year ago on Google
One of our hot wings club's favorite locations. The wings are very tasty. The hottest wings are not extremely hot. Good selection of beers. Only a single server, so it can take a while to get served, but it's fine if you're not in a rush and take your time drinking your beer.

I had to try it (Sun 11-6-22 1:30pm) because of rave reviews by an acquaintance. I opted for the fish and chips take out. I have to note the fish, as well as the batter was not seasoned with any type of seasonings, not even salt. I had to use the dressing it came with for taste. The fries did not taste fresh, soggy. Disappointed by the taste (for the price $20), I could have gotten fresher/tastier at Long John Silver's for 1/2 the price.

Unassuming little restaurant bar in a strip mall. The furniture seems somewhat out of place and cluttered, but still comfortable. Great selection of beers on tap. The food was shockingly good! We had the Fish n Chips and Irish Stew. Seasoning was perfect, food was really outstanding. I probably wouldn't go again since the atmosphere was meh, but I'm absolutely hooked on their English food now so I can't wait to eat there again.

Understanding it is a bar, not all come in for alcohol. Was surprised the only Iced Tea was canned Sweet Tea. Food was excellent, had the French Dip. Other restaurants offer an option to add bacon to a French Dip, when I asked about doing that I was given a wierd look and told no. Other than no Iced Tea or not being allowed to add bacon to sandwich it was an otherwise great experience.

Definitely a Britash Pub hole-in-the wall, but don't let the decor fool you. The food is really good. We had the lamb Shepard's pie which was excellent! Lots of black pepper if you like that. The fish and chips looked really good too!

Best fish and chips I've had in years. Tasted very fresh. Also, the staff is kind and caring.

Great tap list. Food is awesome. Service can be a little laid back but I'm probably just impatient. All that being said, I love this place.

We enjoyed probably the BEST POT STICKERS in San Diego/Poway and some other hors de'vours for a casual late lunch. Good selection of local craft beer. Staffing was an issue.. service was a bit slow.

Disappointed with the Irish Stew….this was very expensive “soup” instead of stew. Certainly not enough for a meal, more like an appetizer. I will not be ordering this again. However the fish and chips were delicious and very fresh but may be better eaten in the restaurant instead of delivery as it really needs to be hot…. The fries were cold and I had to heat up the fish and stew.

I love this place! Except that they are closed on saturdays, which is basically the only day I have time to go here. Wish they had a better schedule.
