Gorgeous sculptures in a beautiful setting. There’s ample areas to stand and admire the sculptures or to sit with friends. It’s a very walkable area, and not too crowded on a sunny fall afternoon. A great place for meetings or just to appreciate the art during a nice city walk.

Beautiful spot to stop on the morning walk. The sculptures are wonderful to look at from different angles as the sun casts shadows. The art is impressive and the garden is peaceful.

The Gates of Hell contains so many pieces Rodin worked on throughout his life, all of them melting into oblivion. Amazing piece of work.

Haunting and magical. The space itself is a little drab but the sculptures make up for it. I used to sit out here with a sketchbook in my teens, studying the forms of each sculpture.

I hadn’t been to see the gates of hell since it was at the Philadelphia Rodan Museum, over 35 years ago so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was here in the permanent collection. Also outside where Adam and Eve and the Burghers of Calais was indoors, beautiful sculptures that they are. Located on the beautiful grounds of Stanford University. It is well worth visiting.

It’s on the smaller than other parks but has a good collection of sculptures and a good balance of sun and shade with plenty of spots to sit or setup a picnic blanket. If you like this park, you’ll love the Rodin museum in Philadelphia.

I always love this little garden. It's serene, beautiful, thought-provoking, and surrounded by nature.

Brought an older relative with dementia here. The Rodin garden and gallery reached right through the fog and just... found her. We weren't sure how she might respond and were overjoyed that she was happy and engaged for two whole hours! She looked at many sculptures 2-3 times and her eyes were shining. (And special thank you to the kind security staff who were understanding and let us gently redirect her when she wanted to touch the statues 😳) For someone whose doctors don't predict many good days remaining, this really was a gift.

This has been a fav place of mine to visit whenever I come to the Bay Area. The sculptures are awe inspiring. The anatomical representation, the expressions on the faces, the foetal position captured in all its angst is deeply deeply disturbing. Do make it a place to visit in your bucket list.

We went to Arizona Cactus Garden and then saw this place on Maps with good review. Hence decided to check in and I'm glad we did. The Hell Gate was incredible. What a great creation by Rodin. The place won't disappoint you. There are benches to sit so you can have some relaxing time at this place.

A hidden experience within the campus radius of Stanford University. Beautiful monuments and great works of art inside the museum and out. I'll have to hit up the cafe next time I visit, but for an Easter visit, wasn't too crowded and lot of historical art work to admire and learn about.

Absolutely worth doing if you’re planning to go to the other museums at Stanford (and they’re open), but if you aren’t a die-hard Rodin fan it might not be worth a drive out of your way. However, definitely a nice place to sit for a while with a coffee or just to contemplate life, if you’re already in the area.

Excellent sculptures from Rodin outside and inside the museum. It's truly amazing to see them up close. I never thought that I would see a group of these sculptures outside the Rodin museum outside of Paris.

We took our toddlers here and they loved it. The Riding sculptures outside are amazing and inside the museum there are some interesting exhibits and a cafe. The museum was free and very well curated with lots to see for our young family.

The sculptures are amazing. If you go at nigyt they have the lights set up in such a way to resemble the way it would have looked by candlelight. It's a great place to bring a date. Wink, wink.

Most things are closed at Stanford University, but you can still visit the Rodin sculpture garden and see the (dry) fountains and other outside art around the campus. Palm Drive and the Oval are impressive. Memorial Chapel's golden mosaics still glisten in the sun. There are noon concerts online to hear the amazing pipe organ to make up for not being able to go inside the church. When it reopens, do experience a concert and fantastic artwork inside. You don't have to worry about a lot of students or tourists in your pictures now. .Nearby Stanford shopping center has good ice cream and coffee shops, and other outside dining. You can walk around the campus without many people (and no bicycles to worry about!), and grab a bite to eat nearby. Have an enjoyable day in beautiful California sunshine.

    Excellent selection of Rodin sculptures.

  • 4/5 John S. 5 years ago on Google
The Gates of Hell are obviously the centerpiece of this collection. Per various comments, yes, they provide ample opportunity for study and contemplation. I didn't pick up on the intent of the arrangement of the collection as a whole, and the materials surrounding and supporting the other pieces, rather than feeling timeless, feel dated and decrepit. A nice collection somewhat diminished by some aspects of its supporting architecture.

This is a lovely part of Stanford University. Some great exhibits. It's situated right beside the (free) Cantor Museum. There's benches to sit under the palm trees. There's a coffee shop with a patio overlooking the Rodin Garden. It's also a lovely walk from here to the Stanford quad and chapel. Lots of free parking at the weekend. One of my favourite places.

(Translated by Google) I watched Rodin's "Hell's Gate" which I watched at three places in the world. From left to right, the Rodin Museum in Paris, the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno, Tokyo and Stanford University in California. I think there is a difference somewhere, how is it?
