My recent visit was a shocking lesson in dishonesty. The menu I received walking in was a far cry from what was promised on the official restaurant week website AND on their social media. Yes, for the right midtown location. The dishes I was eagerly anticipating were nowhere to be found on the menu handed to me. This deceitful practice is an insult to customers' intelligence and a clear breach of trust. For a supposedly esteemed Japanese restaurant, resorting to such underhanded tactics is shameful and embarrassing. I want to make it clear that my dissatisfaction does not extend to the staff, who seemed to be doing their best under the circumstances. The blame for this deception lies squarely with the owner or corporate management who approved this bald-faced lie to lore customers in. I’m attaching photos of the actual menu I was presented with, which starkly contrasts the enticing options promised beforehand and still prominently presented on their social media. It’s unfortunate that Tsuru Ton Tan chose to tarnish its reputation with this. Sham on you.

Delicious and affordable Their udon are huge! Which is nice and similar in Japan. Everythung was flavourful. The sushi weren't fantastic but for the price they were very good. Byt this place is all about udon so don't miss out and try one of them, they are worth it!

It was delicious! I really liked the food, the noodles are great and the sushi was amazing. I totally recommend this place. A plate of udon I think is enough for one or maybe two and are very tasty. You can ask for hot tea ( it is free 😉). The service was really good and nice and the prices are good !! I really enjoyed it!

Loved it. My first time here and u do feel like I ordered the wrong Udon. However, there will always be round #2. As fat as food goes I loved it. Felt like the only one ordering sushi , but I went all in w the Restaurant Week sampler (ie: realized a bit too late there was better lunch specials on the back of the same Rest week menu !) Overall the server was amazing as was the food. The cocktails were also divine. I will happily be back and try to focus on the hot udon !

This place is a must visit restaurant. Not only is the food incredible but also super affordable. As a tourist to New York the portions here are very big so we shared one udon + sushi which was like a large meal. The staff were lovely and helpful and the restaurant itself was very clean and modern. If you are visiting New York you must eat here.

You have to try their new all you can eat shabu shabu downstairs. I highly recommend the Rosie lychee. The sushi and food is excellent too. One of my favorite Japanese spots in midtown.

Excellent Udon Noodles and cocktails. Had a lovely dinner with eight friends and we enjoyed udon noodles and sushi. I got the whiskey cocktail, which was excellent, and my date got the Nippon old-fashioned, which is a welcome variation of a classic. We had the curry deluxe and enjoyed it tremendously. My only nitpick is that our food came out at different times, so we had to wait several minutes before everyone was served. Otherwise the service was efficient, solid atmosphere, and excellent food.

Average food that IMO is still fairly expensive. I had the pork katsu and the Uni udon. The Pork katsu was good but the pork was quite dry. The Uni udon which I had OK, it had little uni flavor and was expensive, but the actual uni on top of the udon was good. You didn't have to wait for too long and the service is nice.

O can't say enough about the tasteful food, the freshness of the sushi, and the delicious drinks. This place is one of the best. Prices are high but nothing unexpected for the Diamond’s district in the NYC😁. We had two Udon soups, pork curry, some beef over Udon dish and of course special sushi. Everything was a perfection. Hot and delicious. However, we had to wait a pretty long time for food, and it was a little unfair since they gave us a table for 1h. Asking for check, and then waiting for anyone to take our payment was also ridiculous. Maybe they were short-staffed? Not sure. We never got our water refill, and no one checked on us at the time of our visit. Besides all of they the food was worth it. If you have few hundred bucks to spare, definitely recommend that place.

The big bowl shocked me at first. I really like the atmosphere in the restaurant. The portion was big and the udon was good. Will have another try for their sushi next time.

Udon was delicious. Drink menu was expansive. The interior design spoke volumes and paid close attention to the theme of this restaurant. Only shortfall would be the exorbitant prices, but I guess that's a given in this part of the town.

I came here alone for a weekday lunch and the restaurant was very busy. For solo diners, there is high seating, bar seating, and sushi area seating. I ordered the beef udon and two roll set (tuna and avocado, shrimp tempura) lunch special for $25. The food was flavorful and tasted fresh and the portion size was huge. I couldn’t finish the entire portion alone. Overall, everything was great from the atmosphere, to the service, to the food. I would definitely come back again when I’m in the area!

I would like to say that the atmosphere of this restaurant was the best part of it. This place is not a kid friendly restaurant. It isn’t a good place to take your children because it’s too expensive and there aren’t that many kid friendly options. There are many hidden fees as well. I brought a cake as it was a birthday and there was a $25.00 fee for the cake. They brought out the plates but they did not even sing happy birthday. The food overall was disgusting. It just wasn’t good. The taste was just entirely disgusting and the soup broth had a very weird texture as there bases are mainly bean curd. It’s disgusting. It’s supposed to be an “all you can eat” but it really isn’t. You need to finish everything first before you can order anything else. They don’t bring out the main things for your hotpot, they rush the appetizers out so you can fill up on that and they can surcharge you for leftovers. You also only get one single “hotpot pot” for 4 people. I believe if it’s a party of six they bring 2 pots. The only good thing here is the atmosphere. If you want hotpot just go elsewhere.

Had lunch here on a Thursday. We got there right before noon, so it was almost empty. But gradually, tables were being filled up. Liked the high ceilings and well spaced tables. Service was friendly. We ordered a 2-roll combo and a 3-roll combo that came with the rolls of your choice and a regular sized udon noodle soup. There were supplement charges for certain rolls and udon soup "upgrades". When the food arrived, we realized that we had ordered too much food for two. All were delicious, but we couldn't finish the udon noodles.

Lunch. Portion super generous. Crowds filled up. Seated downstairs. Nice food. Midtown bustling. Been to Union Sq location as well. Both nice.

Great udon, but disappointing sushi. The udon was the highlight of my meal - fresh, springy and done well. The sushi, however, left a lot to be desired. Quality (both fish freshness and rice preparation) was slightly better than supermarket quality, which is a low bar. Service was not very attentive and slow, despite there only being a few tables and it being before the lunch rush.

We found Tsuru on a whim while searching for a sushi joint in Times Square after a busy day. While we came with the intention for the AYCE which we were politely explained is for reservations we decided to sit down and try out their a la carte menu. From the outside Tsuru comes across as your typical udon restaurant, but walking inside you’ll be pleasantly surprised by a more sophisticated ambiance. Dimmed lights and soft music was a wonderful change of pace to your typical Japanese noodle bar. They have quite the extensive menu with quality items but I was intrigued by the gigantic bowl of udon a restaurant patron was enjoying. I ordered the curry deluxe and an order of cucumber avocado sushi. This was accompanied by the thickest, crispiest pork katsu I’ve ever had, tempura shrimp cooked to perfect and the yummiest shaved beef. The broth itself was a thicker, but creamy Japanese curry broth, with soft and caramelized onions. Sushi was fresh, creamy and delicious. Service was also fantastic! We were helped by both Courtney and Kaya (I believe) who were so incredibly friendly and helpful. They truly made us tired Canadians feel welcome on a Sunday evening. I highly recommend coming here and will be a staple for future visits.

Came here for the summer restaurant week in 2023 and ordered the premium all you can eat ($80). I gotta say it was the BEST value I have ever had in any restaurant week menus - I have tried more than 20 places since 2021. I got all the premium lineups, including wagyu uni and toro. Their udon selection was also very satisfying (cream uni udon and mentaiko something). The only caveat was that their advertisement didnt specify they have certain time restrictions (like, you gotta arrive before 7:45 pm or something and 1.5 hr time limit) but didnt really matter as I had plenty of time ordering everything I wanted (well, I got too full so I couldnt order wagyu sukiyaki).

Very cool atmosphere in this restaurant. Noodles are perfect and oh my gosh, this broth guys…hands down some of the best noodle broth I have ever tasted. Come hungry or be prepared to share, but this was also the LARGEST bowl of noodles I have ever seen served. Even in all of the holiday chaos, our server was also excellent. 10/10 will return

Pleasant atmosphere even if a bit dark. Friendly and attentive staff. Great selection of food but not cheap. Stick to beer, wine, or soft drinks. Alcoholic drinks are not balanced. Will go back.

Really amazing place for udon. They are known for their giant udon bowl. I really like the truffle crab cream udon. The stir fried udon is okay. Curry udon and tan tan are my least favorite. The don is pretty good. Sausage is okay. For restaurant week, they offer sushi and small udon for pretty good price.

We wanted to try out both udon and sushi thus we got combo (sushi + small udon) which is perfect for the portion. Taste just fine, not to an amazing level. Interior is spacious and trendy. We made reservation beforehand but there are still plenty seats available during dinner time. The service is just okay, they didn’t introduce or greet you much. Uní sauce for udon is rarely seen and it taste good.

The udon bowls may look intimidating by their size but the serving itself is perfect. The sukiyaki is delicious and one of my favorite dishes. The lighting in the restaurant is dim, makes it a little hard to read the menu for people with vision problems but I understand that it’s part of their charm. Would recommend :)

Great location and perfect around 5 o’clock ( very empty) The place is normally busy, so come early for a wide range of Seating. The menu options you can’t go wrong with anything. From what we ordered the mushroom udon and chicken was the best. The servers were fast moving and sometimes hard to catch but definitely worth a try.

Sushi cravings satisfied! Went here for NYC restaurant week and I was hooked! Location: It is located in west 48th st. It was a nice interior, bar or sushi seatings available if your by yourself like me. Service: she was great! Felt like I am well taking care of. Food: so the NYC restaurant week set that I got is the 8 pc OMAKASE set, it is compose of Tuna, Scallop, Salmon, Hamachi, Unagi, Ikura, Uni and stripe Bass. The sushi are fresh, the rice is a little bit hard on some of the sushis. It comes with TEMPURA which I all love, it is fried to perfection! Very light and crispy. It also comes with UDON which I upgraded to Katsu Curry, the udon was fresh, the curry is flavorful and the katsu was fried well. TSURUTONTAN ICE CREAM: its so good, it taste like vanilla ice cream with brown sugar syrup! Perfect to end the meal. Price rating: 7/10, it was not bad. Cause its a lot of food. I will definitely come back here. The service is nice and the food makes me want to come back.

The venue is beautiful. Big, open, and inviting. Sat at the bar for some drinks and a quick bite. Quick service. Food was good and reasonable. Good sized portions.
