A San Diego treasure, Tim Cantor's gallery showcases his paintings and poetry in a serene environment featuring hauntingly lovely background music. The gallery features both his world renowned oil paintings, but also concept pieces and limited edition prints. It is certainly one of the most surprising and inspiring spots in the Gaslamp District.

Wow! If you have never been to an art gallery or museum to see great paintings please visit our own local artist Tim Cantor's gallery. His art is just surreal & beautiful & to top it off he also writes poems for many of the paintings.

So awesome to see his works of art up close! They are stunning! Visiting the gallery is a real experience as you're not only seeing the visual art but you're able to read the accompanying writings and hear the sounds in the gallery that they use to enhance the experience. As an added bonus, the curator was super friendly and easy to talk to. Would love to someday be able to purchase a piece!

There are no words to express how incredible I think Tim's work is. I cannot afford his paintings but have purchased his books and just bought a "bubble" -see photo. These are snipits of his paintings enclosed in Crystal.

Well, this gallery is of course a 5 star if you like Tim Cantor's work, which I do. Seeing his painting in person is awesome. The staff in the gallery is great and make you feel very welcome. They gave me excellent service even though my purchase here was small. Definitely stop in a take a look.

Walked through only a quarter of art only to be suddenly interrupted by a rude old woman. Great art, poor customer service skills. Be kind to your visitors especially if they are locals. I won't be so curious next time I pass by. Shame.

Amazing, surreal art from a talented artist. Don’t hesitate to visit. If you cannot afford to take a painting home, buy a book or a globe. I’m loving Tim’s book with art and words - the words are almost as moving as the images!

The Art of Tim Cantor gallery in San Diego is such an enchanting place, and our visits last week proved to be the highlight of our entire trip. The art on display is spellbinding, and as I said during our visit (only half-jokingly), I would love to have been locked into the place for the night, just to have time to try and absorb the details and mood of each and every work on display. Two days later, we find ourselves thinking about acquiring one for our home. The problem is, we still can't decide which is our favorite! We were grateful for the opportunity to briefly meet Tim himself during our first visit, and to express to him our admiration for his work. And Tim's charming wife, Amy -- what a wonderful hostess! Thank you so much, Amy, for your time visiting with us, discussing the different works on display and the stories behind them. As wonderful as the gallery itself is, your warm reception and welcoming company made the experience twice as enjoyable as it would have been otherwise. After our time together, Stephanie and I now feel like we have a friend for life, and we are already looking forward to our next opportunity to visit you (and the art, of course!), either in San Diego or (maybe someday!) in Amsterdam. Until we meet again. . . Your friends, Cary and Stephanie Fitzgerald

It all started with a crystal ball hanging in the window. A painting of a ball, so real so fake but immensely mesmerizing. I stop there for what seemed like forever trying to make a sense of how this painting is possible and how it's not mixed media. I wrote down his name and promised myself I'd return one day, as if this is a pilgrimage. The paintings are religion. It's duality of life - the darkness and the light. The opposite, the realism with the surreal. Expression of a man's soul and thoughts deep within come to life with a brush stroke. A story, a poem years in the making. I've followed him from the day I saw my first work of his. Addicted to his website and just inspired by his writings and work. 15 years is what it took me to finally arrive. And as I stepped foot in the gallery a smile as wide as the world can see was brought to my face. Internally I was giddy. And then I met Amy, his wife. And am I even more inspired; by her, her dedication, her love she has not just for Tim but his work. 15 years ago, I was a college student amazed by a painting. And today I'm a lucky man. I saw Tim's gallery. One day I hope to meet the man, until then - I'll meet him through his work.

Superb artist! The gallery is run by family, and they are *really* nice and friendly. Prints availability and pricing are reasonable.

Stepping into this gallery is a transformative experience, as though you’ve stepped into a living being. Extraordinary as the gallery itself becomes a performance art piece.

My name is Irina and I am from New York. I met Amy and Tim Cantor's paintings around 7-8 years ago in San Diego. My boyfriend and I fell in love with both: paintings and the story of Amy and Tim. I bought a first edition of Tim's art book (think, I was a first buyer) as a gift to my boyfriend and we've been enjoying it all these years. Thank you, Amy, again ! I am checking Tim's web site regularly and I wish, Amy, you could arrange an exhibition in New York. Could you think about it? Thank you so much for unique art experience. With my best regards and good wishes for the summer, Irina

Cool gallery, but the woman working on sat june 5, was so rude. Never spoke other than To chastise one person in our group for not having a mask on. We are actually art buyers. Never got off her computer and didn’t even look up when we left . We said thank you and goodbye , she didn’t even respond or glance our way she was too busy looking at her computer screen. She didn’t acknowledge our interest in several of the paintings nor did she offer even a single conversation about the beautiful art she was surrounded by.

Absolutely fantastic. The meanings behind his art is a testament to his skill. One quirky and somewhat interesting work where you had to use a magnifying glass to see bubbles he drew in a glass of champagne.

His art is absolutely amazing. The music fits the artwork perfectly and aura of the gallery is mysterious and sacred. Love it so much. Don’t miss this gallery if you are in San Diego and being an art lover.

(Translated by Google) I love his paintings, especially after seeing a stone in LACMA that cost 10 million USD. The girl painting resembles my 3 yo niece. The cat reminds me the deade / alive Schroendinger cat. The gallery is located at the gaslamp quarter of this beautiful city of San Diego. I love his paintings, especially after seeing a stone at LACMA considered art and sold for 10 million USD. One of the paintings looked very much like a 3-year-old niece. Stay in San Diego's Gaslamp quarter, which boils night and day in this beautiful city. (Original) I love his paintings, especially after seeing a stone in LACMA that costed 10 million USD.

Love, love, love this place. I used to go here a lot when I lived in San Diego. I bought a book here, and I would spend plenty of time browsing his art. I love the quirks about it.

I have been a fan of Tim Cantor's for the last 18 plus years. His work always amazes me with his display of detail and also always thinking out of the box. He will paint a water drop onto the canvas to the point where it looks wet when the light hits it. His style and techniques are breathtaking.
