One of my favorite places in the world to geek out. Very nice museum. Great displays, interesting info and presented really nicely. I spent probably about an hour and a half going through it. If you enjoy history, industrial design, graphic design, technology or radios or any combination of the above, you’ll enjoy this place!

Such a wonderful time! There were three employees there during the about 2 hours I wandered around. All three made themselves available to answer questions, provided demonstrations of the equipment, and were super sweet about taking photos and videos. The museum was just what I was looking for- super informative, filled with interesting exhibits, and was small enough that I felt satisfied having seen most of everything in my 2 hours. It is quality place and I would be happy to go again. Getting there was easy and parking was available. I loved being able to see the range of machines from the TTY to Phonographs to the professional recording equipment. I even was able to play the theremin and hear an original Edison record player at work! Very, very happy. Thank you to everyone that runs the museum. It is a fantastic experience.

I brought my client here and we loved the facts about old technology. They are open during the day. I really liked the main guy who worked there.

Pavek Museum is an excellent place to visit for a field trip or day program outing for people of all ages. I am the activity coordinator for a day program serving adults with intellectual disabilities and we went to Pavek to do a radio broadcasting experience. Everyone in our group got the chance to help create our very own radio program and there were even roles we could assign to persons who are non-verbal! Nina and Stan took such great care to make sure everyone got to participate. They were so wonderful to our group the whole way through the experience. Our folks even got to participate in a super fun Quiz Show at the end! There truly is something for everyone here! If you love electronics, there are some really wonderful artifacts to see. We didn't have time to dive into everything Pavek offers so we will absolutely be back. I will be spreading the word about this wonderful place. Thank you so much Pavek for keeping educational experience like this accessible for all!

It's important to appreciate our history and previous technology. This place keeps it going. Even fun for kids to see huge size of predecessor phones and radios.

I've been aware of this place from family and friends but I had never gone to visit. The night I was there was an induction ceremony for the Minnesota Broadcaster Hall of Fame, which was certainly fun in its own right. The museum features many displays dealing in Broadcasting, but other aspects of Technology as well. Some of the things they have to show are quite unique. Well worth a visit.

A Minnesota treasure, especially for all those with a love of history of technology. Contains artifacts covering early telegraphy, spark gap radio transmitters, the electron tube, to the first transistor radio. Impressive early television collection, and is starting to get a display started covering the history of the computer. Whether they can stay true to their calling, and appeal to the youth remains to be seen, but we're hoping!!!

How. Fun. Was. That?! Definitely not a place for everyone, but take this from a nerd that's very interested in technology and its history: this place is amazing. You can ask the staff about anything you have questions about and they'll happily tell you and even show you how stuff works! Can't wait to visit again.

Few small museums capture technological history, but there are a few. The National Voice of America Museum in Bethany, Ohio and the Pavek Museum in St. Louis Park, MN are must sees for radio history enthusiasts. Pavek has some real gems such as a fully working spark gap transmitter, RCA ribbon microphones and early television apparatus. I would give the Pavek an "A" on props, but a "C" on context: for a younger person, it might be hard to see how these things fit into our lives, but the museum is a constant work in progress and I believe the staff is working on building a better story. It is more refined and revealing each time I visit.

I love the newly renovated Pavek, the signage and displays are streamlined and my very knowledgeable guide was Danny Henry.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the exhibits in the museum, but it was really great even for people who aren't as interested in the history of communication. Lots of variety with antique items, from Morse code and telegraphs, electric line play table, old radios, televisions, broadcast cameras, and you can even play a theremin. We had a lot of fun here, spent a couple hours to look at everything, and like others had mentioned in the reviews - the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable, they explained and demonstrated several different machines.

Amazing collection of historical electronics that I had known and read about, but had never seen up close. The museum has interactive pieces that are suitable for all ages and some that are for older visitors, plus houses the Minnesota Broadcaster's Hall of Fame.

Small and quint but a great place for kids. It’s a great place to be reminded how far we have come. Gosh who can forget when mobile phones felt like you was carry a rock around compare to what we have today. The demonstrations were interesting.

Great place. Was there with my husband yesterday and we both had a great time, he LOVED this place and would go everyday if we lived near there. Carl who works there is awesome!! He was very knowledgeable and walked around with us for a while explaining a lot of the items and showing us how some of them worked which was great. Next time we are up that way we will be back.

Fascinating array of radio and TV related items from the 1920s to the 1990s. Cool interactive set up for phones, power generation and even a theremin.

  • 5/5 David R. 7 years ago on Google
Very cool museum. The staff are always very full of history, stories and general information.

  • 5/5 Ian R. 1 year ago on Google
Kind of a hidden gem, I can highly recommend this for anyone who likes vintage technology or history. The radio and television broadcast equipment is particularly impressive, but there's more to see! I stayed for about an hour and felt that it was about the right amount of time for me.

  • 4/5 Emery B. 5 years ago on Google
The Pavek Museum includes many cool slices of history. For someone like me, it was fantastic to see all of the interesting and cool slices of audio history. For adults who are interested in music or audio production I would wholeheartedly recommend it. The only negative is for folks who may be on the younger side. The museum offers a few interactive exhibits, but for the most part is viewing only. I went with my twelve year old sibling and they were unimpressed to say the least. It can also be a little tricky to find with public transportation as well. I did enjoy the theremin exhibit, as well as all of the novelty radios they had collected.

Fantastic museum! It's all one big room but I spent at least an hour reading plaques and interacting with the exhibits. I can't believe I've lived so close to this place for so long and never stopped by!

  • 5/5 Katrina B. 10 months ago on Google
this is a little hidden gem that i never would’ve thought of visiting. it was very interesting and interactive. i think museums like this can get very information heavy, but this had many ways to keep it interesting. it was a little spendy for the size of the place though.

If you grew up in Minnesota this is an amazing walk through memory lane, all the TV and Radio celebrities you knew are represented here! To this day the museum remains well supported by local broadcasters. Even if you are not a Minnesotan you will love it! This place has an incredible collection of historical radio/tv/audio/video/amateur memorabilia. Anyone who wants a wonderful overview of how far we've come from Edison and Marconi to iPhones needs to come here. Bring the kids and show them how electronic communications started! It could spark an interest that would blossom into a career (pardon the pun!). When I was a kid I started looking at old radios like these and how they worked and I was hooked!!! The back room is filled with other equipment being repaired and stored, fun to see too. Also, consider donating your old equipment here, it is an excellent cause.

Had a great time visiting the Pavek. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, the inside is packed with interesting collections. Combines technology with nostalgia. I loved it all, especially seeing the history of Twin Cities radio and television. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic in showing us around. Well worth the price of admission!

  • 5/5 Sue P. 10 months ago on Google
Well worth the visit! I remember as a little girl in the 1960s helping my uncle in his radio and TV repair shop and going on house calls with him. (You did not carry those heavy TV cabinets into the shop for repair!) That was first generation electronics. By the time I joined the US Air Force, as one of the first female avionics technicians, we were into second generation electronics. Although this is a broadcast museum, the electronics was still a walk down memory lane.

What a cool museum! We brought my radio-crazy dad here as a Christmas gift, but everyone, including my teenager, had a great time learning about communications and broadcasting. (The hands-on exhibit with different types of phones was a favorite!) My dad found his call sign in one of the the radio call sign directories in one of the exhibits (from 1969-70!) Even if you're not a radio nerd, this is a fun place to stop and learn. Information was fairly presented and there was a great diversity of inventors displayed.
