Large portions for shared plates, and even larger portions for entrees. This place does not lack in the flavor department, and the desert menu had this delicious chocolate cake that really tasted like that frosting was made in house. Perfect place for a date, and the service is really nice to! 10/10 would go back again 💯

The food was great. I had the catfish, greens and grits and my husband had the shrimp and spicy chorizo pasta. The atmosphere was great. This was my first time ever going to a Busboys and Poets location. The customer service in the book section was great. I wish I remembered his name but I sure do remember his face just because he wa so kind. I will be trying other locations because I heard that each location has its own vibe. I will definitely return to this location after I go to the other locations.

These are terrible pictures because I took them after we swapped items to try and started digging in. That’s how good it was- we couldn’t wait. I placed our reservation on Yelp before we arrived then checked in when we got there. The wait was shorter than they expected, maybe 30 min at a super busy brunch rush. It was pretty busy but the waitress was friendly and fast enough to keep us happy. The western omelet with home fries was delicious, as was the French toast, buttermilk pancake, bacon, and chicken sausage. We are coke lovers and we even enjoyed their cola. We will definitely return!

The Parking: *************** Street parking is available in front of the restaurant, although it may be limited or restricted for curbside pickup. However, there is a convenient parking lot located on the corner of 45th Ave next to the Palette at Arts District Apartments that offers plenty of free parking. You can easily spot the apartment building from the restaurant, so finding it won't be a problem. If you have any mobility limitations, feel free to ask for drop-off at the front door, where a small seating area is available while you wait for your party. The Vibe and Atmosphere: ******************************* The outdoor seating area at this location is equipped with an awning and outdoor heating lamps, ensuring a comfortable dining experience even if you choose to dine outside. The small bookstore has a unique and creative atmosphere with a boho-artsy vibe, creating a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life. Feel free to come as you are and enjoy yourself with whomever you choose. The Food: ************ Whatever your dietary preferences or restrictions may be, rest assured that there is something on the menu to suit your taste. From delicious vegan and vegetarian options to an array of choices for carnivores, the menu offers endless selections. You'll experience amazing food, outstanding service, and an incredible atmosphere with super cool vibes and messaging.

Enjoy having a meal with my friend at the outdoor patio. (I remember the last time outdoor patio was under construction.) The service was great and food was good. Highly recommended to get a table seat outdoor patio during nice weather and it also have ceiling fan to keep cool. All is good.

It was okay American breakfast cuisine. I wouldn't right home about it. However! They have a diaper changing station in the men's bathroom. As a soon to be dad I will be going back just because of this feature.

The ambiance is great. Casual spot so dress comfortably. The colors of the books in the bookstore tickle your eyes sort of like a candy store. The bathroom is spacious, clean and smells good. We started with the crispy brussel sprouts which were indeed crispy, but fluffy and light. The taste of the slightly sweet and tangy crispy brussel sprouts were a delicacy. Turns out they were "flash fried". The 🍤 shrimp and 🦀 crab fritters were good. Slightly spicy. The tartar dipping was a good compliment. The entree, the busboy burger and fries 🍟 🍔. Good burger #sayless. The waiter was on point.

Overall good experience. The food was very good and our server was nice. My only complaint is that our food all came out at the same time. The app and entrees came out together and then our dessert came out just minutes later. I would have liked it if our food had been spaced out a little more.

I have eaten here before. Never disappointed. First review for this location. Great variety of choices on the menu for most people’s diets. Helpful and friendly staff. The book selection is always current and reflects a diverse group of writers and readers. Our lunch was delicious and the portions were large. Great meal and visit at this location.

Great atmosphere and no wait on a Saturday during lunchtime. The salmon melted in my mouth and the beer was good.

Busboys and Poets was a great spot for brunch! They had an extensive breakfast, lunch, and drink menu. Prices were reasonable and service was very friendly. The atmosphere was quite unique. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

Delicious brunch on a Monday morning! We really enjoyed our food (we both got the chorizo breakfast wrap and sweet potato fries). The service was quite slow toward the end, and we had to wave down the waiter to try to pay, but otherwise, the server was excellent!

As a vegan, I'm so glad to have a place where I can go out to eat and they have more than just salad... The grain bowl is goood (wasn't the biggest fan of the texture of the eggplant and asparagus, tho), but the vegan nachos are my favorite. It's inexpensive and HUGE! I've gotten it several times and I have yet to finish it. And that vegan cheesecake 😋 😍.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times. The food is consistently decent. Today, we ordered the Cheddar & Egg Burger and Shrimp and Chicken Chorizo pasta. The burger was a bit bland and the burger bun was a bit stale. The fries were mediocre at best. The pasta was really delicious though. The server checked on us only once and had to wait for 10 minutes to be able to order our food.

Kennedy was our waitress, and she was phenomenal! Very attentive and patient. Came back on a busy Friday early afternoon. Was seated almost immediately. The food was delicious as usual!

Had a great birthday and first time experience, thanks to Angie! The one thing I didn’t get to snap a pic of was the firecracker shrimp. OMG, absolutely delicious, from the breading on the shrimp, to the cook on the shrimp and the sauce that they are tossed in. Perfection! All of our entrees were great, we left pleasantly plump. We will definitely be back for happy hour next!

For an excellent service experience ask for Mike. He was attentive, considerate, gave us his best. All the food we ordered was cooked to perfection and brought out in a reasonable amount of time. This chain of restaurants has a different kind of concept. There are books available and food. The theme is poetic and artistic, and the lighting is somewhat dim. Recommend the Oaxaca Omelette. Definitely eat here. You'll enjoy it.

I organize a company event at this Bus Boys and Poet location. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. If was a 40 person event so the food was served buffet style. The Blackened Salmon was the greatest Salmon I have ever tried. The fried chicken was great as well. The event was a success all thanks to the staff.

The food is delicious but does not blow your mind, however the atmosphere is amazing so the whole experience is great! We had the omelets, mine was Oaxaca omelet, French toast, fruits, coffee, a great way to start a day. I could be here just drinking coffee and designing. This place allows your creativity flows. Yes I will recommend you to come, eat and live the experience, either if you are local or tourist.

Not quite as special as the original but still a great space. Crab cakes and house salad were both good, although prices are pretty steep. Crab cakes plus salad plus two drinks around $80 with tip.

Great food with cool atmosphere and a stage in the back. Had a large party there of approximately 60 people and only two servers for the event. It was difficult to get a drink let alone order dinner. But when they finally came, it was worth the wait!

Awesome atmosphere…… however the food was pretty underwhelming. I got a coffee and that came out cold, then I chilled a bit and got a burger…….. it wasn’t hot and the fries were pretty cold. The Burger wasn’t seasoned at all. The bun had a grill mark on the very edge but it wasn’t really grilled and it was so dry that my ketchup was dried out into the bun. I sent the fries back for some that were fresh and dealt with the burger. The service was the big bummer. It was like they didn’t wanna be there. Not too friendly. As an artist and reading the story of the place I was very excited to see it for myself. I won’t go back. It bums me out to leave a bad review because I usually only rate a business if it’s 5 stars. It is really too bad! I love supporting artist themed establishments.

Second time at this location and I have no complaints! The vibe is what it should be, the food is amazing and the service is phenomenal! Great spot to read, work, enjoy a meal, or just relax.

Edit: Note to self, never come on Sundays. Bar tenders are rude and aren’t as nice as the ones during the week. Never coming back on a Sunday. Terrible experience today. I like this place a lot! Great music and different seating areas. There’s the bar, some couches throughout the place, outside sitting tables and chairs, tall tables and chairs inside as well as regular tables inside. The freshly squeezed orange juice is sooo good!!

Everything was amazing. Went here as a pitstop…ended up eating, getting two drinks when I said only one, and fully distracted and emerged into my the books they had. Everyone who also comes in and dines here is very pleasant and friendly which made this location “Made With Love”. Manny the bartender was extremely caring and has amazing service with his guest.

Loved the space to work and have dinner. Great coffee, loved my blue pea latte and the vegan nachos were great! Overall a big selection of vegan options in the menu which is nice to find. Very attentive service too.

I went to busboys and poets in Hyattsville and had a Cubano sandwich. The sandwich was very good but not nearly the best cubana that I've had. The garden salad however, was excellent and I highly recommend it . My companions enjoyed their meals and the service was excellent. The prices were reasonable, spending $65 including tip to feed 4. I expect that I will visit this location again in the future.

We've eaten dinner here twice and it's always perfect. Tempeh sandwich, nachos (pictured), and avocado sandwich (pictured) were personal favorites. Vegan beef stir fry, and quinoa dish were also amazing vegetarian options. The meat eaters in our group enjoyed the blackened salmon (which was thankfully not too blackened). We all shared the crunchy asparagus that came on the side. Poets pilsner on draft is refreshing. Everyone is so helpful and friendly here. Quick service with a smile. Outdoor seating is a must although indoors is super cute too. Will try again for brunch and cannot wait!

The food was great, as was the customer service. It was my first time here and we were seated quickly during peak time on a Saturday after and serviced quickly as well. The food was very good. I got the French toast, which I enjoyed and my sister got the GF pancakes which she said were very good as well.

I came here for lunch today and the service was pretty good. I ordered take out. I ordered a bus boys burger with fries it came to be about $12 with out the tip. The fries were cold and not good. I ordered my burger to be medium well but it was extra dry, I was so hungry I had to use allot of ketchup. I also found a piece of plastic I first thought it was like that film from the onions but it was plastic, green looking plastic. I’ve gotten a grill chicken sandwich from here before and that was a 5/5 but today I was very dissatisfying with the food.

With several locations in the DMV, Busboys is a reliable spot for good food and down to earth vibes. In addition to tasty appetizers (crab and shrimp bites, firecracker shrimp, crispy fried cauliflower) and good great entrees (I like the crab cakes best, pictured), they also have a pretty decent vegan menu. Makes it easy for a group with different tastes and diets to all enjoy the meal.

My best friend I tried this place for the first time. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the service. We came here to have a couple of drinks and celebrate my recent birthday. The bartender Manuel was amazing. He knew all the regular customers and what drinks they normally get. One of the customers that sat near us told us he’s the best bartender in town! We ordered DC tap waters and it was soo good. Even though it was super busy Manuel made sure everyone received time and attention. He also remembered that is was my birthday and made us a wonderful shot, I loved the details he added like the sugar around the rim of the glass. Thank you Manuel! And thank you bus boys and poet for an awesome stress-free evening. I will definitely be back and I will be sure to bring my friends!

I looked drooled over the menu for weeks just to be let down. Parking was convenient. The server Allison was nice but I went to the RR to wash my hands and came back to my food just there. The sweet potato fries were cold, not warm, COLD. The fried chicken sandwich was really good but the bread pudding and fries and catfish were blah. The only things that were good was the drink, The Color Purple & the Chicken sandwich. I would not return again.
