Very nice facility with lots of brochures and maps all for free. Parking garage is also very reasonable. Glad I stopped here. Got lots of good information to help with my travels. Also, restrooms are very clean.

Loved the tour. The driver, she was crazy as a bed bug and we all just loved her. We tipped her well. She deserved it. She knows her history of the city and made it fun.

Beautiful large visitor center located just outside the parking garage. (Parking is pretty cheap) there is parking outside by the visitor center also. Large, clean bathrooms. They have a gift shop.

The Charleston visitor center and Geechee Gula tour was excellent. The two and a half hour bus tour was a great historic experience and I was so glad to be aboard. It was so much history I was so overwhelmed. It's much better in person.

I visited the Charleston Visitor Center because I paid for the Gullah Geechee Tour, which was good by the way. All of the tours that provide transportation are here. The center has a gift shop and some exhibits. You can find information here about the city, as well. It's a great place to stop if you need information.

If you’re new to Charleston, going to the visitor center is a must! You can get a bird’s eye view of what is available to you in Charleston, as well as learn some preliminary details about Charleston’s storied history and culture. There is also a fair amount of parking at a good rate. It is within walking distance of most places, and extremely close to the magnificent commerce hub of King St.

The building is beautiful..They have wonderful visuals both photos and oversized photo media. Gift shop is great. There were plenty of people throughout the entire building ready and will to answer questions. Best visitor center I have been to.

This is one of the nicest, most welcoming visitor centers I have been to! They have friendly people to help, but my favorite part were the very very clean bathrooms!

Loads of great information. The lady was VERY helpful and if it’s your first time visiting Charleston and the Lowcountry, be sure to stop in here for information on places to eat, shop, tours, historic sites, plantations and all things Charleston and Lowcountry.

The Charleston visitor center is a restored train station. The store has a friendly staff and lots of neat things to buy. There is alot of history to this town and this is the best place to start! Guest Services has maps and ideas for things to see and do!

It was our first time in Charleston, so we stopped by the visitor center. It was a hot summer day, and the air conditioning felt incredible. Paid parking is conveniently located right across the street. The restrooms are clean. And the guy at the front desk was super helpful, answering our questions and sharing insights about what we should see.

Very nice visiting center. It was decorated really nice. Very festive. Great location if you're doing a tour the pickups are usually there. One of the best visiting centers I've been to.

This place is beautiful. I have traveled extensively and this is one of the best visitor’s centers I have ever come across. If I remember correctly, this is an old train station. You can see all of the original style today looking at it. It is not hard to imagine what it look like years ago. In the years since I have lived here, they have renovated the inside and they also add it a parking garage nearby. Because parking is sometimes very hard to fine. This parking garage that is nearby makes it very convenient to take the shuttle which is free to everyone in the downtown area. I had been living here almost 10 years before I knew this. Inside the building is plenty of seating. Lots of people come here just to rest in between siteseeing and the museum across the street all of the tour buses drop off in this area right up under the overhang which makes it extremely convenient. The restrooms are clean and open to the public. This is very important because it’s hard to find restaurants in this area if you are not near a restaurant. Extremely kid friendly. The children’s museum is within walking distance. There is an outside area for dogs. I did not see a fireplace. The Marketplace beside the building has many things that you may need if you’ve been walking for hours. It is also cool inside. I got there a little after four - they close at five. There were quite a few people behind the desks talking. They were talking so I’m not sure if they were the ones that assisted visitors or did something else completely . I wasn’t sure because because I haven’t been here in a long time. I walked around a little until closer to five. At that time one of the ladies walked over to me to tell me they were closed. #TTIP: start right here lat the visitor center. You can park your car , use the restroom or get something to eat as there are many restaurants in the area. Lots of accessible parking and seating on the inside. The free shuttle picks up here. One end of the visitors center is attached to a restaurant/Bistro type eating place. You’re also within walking distance of so many things you didn’t know you wanted to see.

The visitors center made our trip to Charleston such an easy, worry free trip! The parking is very easy to access, there is a parking deck right at the center with a cheaper garage next to it, across the street with 2 points of access. It was quite inexpensive to park and while the visitor center is already close into the city, the DASH system, which is free, allows you to access nearly all you'd want to visit quickly and easily. This was by far the best visitor center we've been to and the DASH service was such a great idea and implemented very thoughtfully to make visiting a fun and enjoyable experience!

WOW!!! I can't believe who gorgeous this old building was they renovated into the visitor center! Spacious lobby with someone right there to help you, lots of books, brochures and a gift shop where Native American were basket weaving. Great people and friendly and we found a nice bench to plug in and charge our phones!

I went to take in few sites at the Charleston Visitor Center on a Monday morning July 31, 2023. As you go into the center there is a person at a desk to share information about Charleston. This person never spoke to me nor my party of friends. We all were ignored. By the end of the tour I came up To this person intentionally to see if they would acknowledge me and our party and was ignored again for the second time. However, I enjoyed the tour. Will have to give a overall rating of a two score because of being ignored by the person “older female” working the desk by the door. Would Recommend to not hire people for public service positions that does not have public service qualities.

For a 1st timer’s day trip to Charleston, SC definitely consider stopping here first. Parking is limited but, scan the QR Code and pay online for the time you need. First 30 mins is FREE!! $22 for a 24 hour pass. Very helpful staff. Easy to read foldable maps, A/C, lots of coupons. If you need a break from walking or from the heat there are places to sit in the A/C and lots of history to read/see. OUTLETS TO CHARGE DEVICES while you cool off. Women’s restroom was clean and stalls are private.

The people were all so very kind and the gift shop gave a great variety. The women's restroom was clean and had plenty of stalls. The only warning I have is that the open restroom is treated like a urinal and doors don't get closed. If that is an issue, they do have men's and women's unisex restrooms at one end of the building. The mini bus tours are a great way to see the city and learn about Charleston.

Unfortunately it had already closed for the evening and we just walked around. We saw where the H L HUNLEY submarine was, and we took several pictures. The history on it goes beyond imagination. It was great !

Clean, air conditioned, very informational and best public bathrooms in Charleston. This is your source for all the free local maps you need!

  • 5/5 Michael H. 2 years ago on Google
Great place. Clean bathrooms. There is a gift shop, and ticket center that you can purchase Manny different tours that you see online. The place also has a small museum of Charleston.

Just don't park here and be 15 minutes late. They will boot you immediately and charge you $50. We even tried to go on the app as we were walking back to the vehicle to add 2 more hours to our 4 but it was already expired and wouldn't allow us. Will never recommend this lot for dinner parking.

Virginia's Restaurant on King Street has really good food. Wait Staff was friendly, and knowledgeable about the dishes. You could swap out sides if you preferred a different one. Good Portion sizes and prices were neither low or high. Definitely suggest you eat Virginia's on 412 King Street. I promise you want be disappointed.

Very nice ! Like a mini museum. Lots of good information and real people to help you out. They have a gift shop as well. Gender neutral bathroom feels a little weird at first, but just pretend you're at home!

Great place to start your visit to Charleston. You can park here for a fairly reasonable price and then walk almost anywhere on the peninsula, or you can catch any of the three regular shuttles that run around town. Very clean facilities and super friendly and informative staff.
