Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is an absolutely beautiful place to visit! I highly recommend taking the boat tour at sunset. We went in the fall and the leaves are not only amazing that time of year, but they change greatly as the sunset progresses over the evening. The boat tour is a great way to see the lakeshore and all the beauty that Pictured Rocks possesses, as well as scope out some of the hikes that you are interested in. We spent the next day hiking and chasing waterfalls in the area which is a great way to spend the day as well. If you can time this in the fall then it has the added value of some of the best fall colors I have ever seen- even compared to my home state of Colorado! This is a true gem and should be a bucket list item for you!

It's immaculate up here. One thing I love about the Upper Peninsula is that there's so many cool and small towns, and in between it's just nothing. you start in St. Ignace and have to drive a couple hours to Pictured Rocks but it's great! This is one of my favorite national nature places to visit. I hope one day it'll become a national park because it surely deserves that final titled, even if it's still being funded by the federal government anyway. It's great here!

One of Michigan's best kept secrets! Everything in this park was awesome, from waterfalls, short and long hikes, camping, kayaking, beaches, and boat tours. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Wagner and musinishing falls were both great waterfalls, even flowing late in the summer, with an easy 1/4 mile walk from the parking area to the falls. Staff was helpful at the Munising visitor center, but there's no visitor center to enter with a shop or maps or anything. It's just a trailer window to pay the fee and ask questions. There are maps that you can take a photo of to take with you. Miner's falls was huge and a must-see. It's a longer 0.6-mile walk, but it's an easy walk the entire way with a bunch of stairs at the end to the viewing platform. Highly recommend pictured rocks cruises for a guided tour of the shoreline that would take days to kayak the whole way. Their insight on how the area was formed and various collapses through the century was informative and enjoyable.

Absolutely beautiful. When you're here make sure you take the boat tour to fully appreciate the beauty of the cliffs. In the park itself, the trails are very nice, taking you to multiple waterfalls and scenic views. I definitely recommend the trail to the Grand Sable Dunes, the view was beautiful. Negatives: both visitor centers were closed and apparently in need of renovation. Prepare yourself appropriately for the bugs, especially the Sable flies.

What an absolutely gorgeous place to visit! If you do visit here be sure to take one or two boat tours of the area! There is so much beauty to take in! Miles and miles of tall cliffs, neat coloration of the rocks from mineral deposits, and beautiful blue green water that you just have to see in person to appreciate!! There are also lighthouses, eagles and their nests, and waterfalls! Pictures and videos are gorgeous to look at, but nothing beats seeing it with your own two eyes! Be sure to stop in at the visitor center and pick up some souvenirs and a map of the area!

This is a wonderful State Park to spend time hiking, taking in the beautiful views, and relaxing on sand beaches of Lake Superior. The trails can be challenging at times and you'll certainly get your exercise hiking the full loop. So pack a lunch and enjoy!

This was one place we were so excited to visit. The boat tour out to the Pictures Rocks was amazing. It was breathtaking. We loved every minute of our time there. There is so much to see, not only on the boat tour, but the various trails throughout the park. I would recommend visiting for anyone, including families.

Great walk. I'd say it was easy if you have good mobility and are fairly fit and active. Otherwise it would probably be challenging and it is quite long. I walk fairly quickly and did a loop in 3.40hr. Went clockwise and stopped at the beach for lunch which was stunning (not included in the time). Amazing views especially along the coast. It was warm when I went and the path was fine, I did it in trainers. In wetter seasons I'd definitely recommend hiking boots. Car park> mosquito beach the shorter way (40 mins) Mosquito beach to chapel beach (1.50hr) Chapel beach round to car park (1.10) Track in car was quite bumpy but its fine in a truck. If wet I can imagine it gets pretty slippy. I think you need a pass for the park which is 5 dollars but I didn't know this before I got there and at that time there wasn't anyone there to pay.

Beautiful area. Great fauna and easy hikes. Don't go thinking it's going to be the Tetons or a national park. Have to take a boat to see the rocks but worth the trip. As a Buckeye, the UP is as gorgeous as it gets within a 9 hour drive.

We spent a couple of hours here. We went to the upper overlook, Miner's castle, lower overlook, and Miner's beach. Wonderful views. If you're short on time, these places are very easy to get to. just an FYI, if you're going in late October, dress warm. A sweatshirt and leggings isn't going to cut it.

Don't miss Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore if you are visiting North Michigan Peninsula. I request to take out time. Visit the north side to enjoy Lake Superior. Enjoy beach, trekking, and walking. You will like it.

Amazing park with picturesque views. Took the whole family for a backpacking trip. Mosquito River was amazing, kids played in the water and climbed on the rocks for hours. The views along the trail were gorgeous. Great place to visit.

I didn't get the full experience of the national park, but was happy to have been able to briefly visit the Lakeshore. Clean area with sand and pockets of warmer water to wade in. Quiet and a place to relax and take in the view. Dogs are allowed on leash, as well.

A must see while visiting the U.P. We enjoyed the views from Miner's Castle and also our time kayaking along the shore. Great hiking, too. The weather was perfect in August, but the waves on the lake were getting higher.

Loved our day spent exploring Pictured Rocks! Due to lack of snow, the roads were drivable into late December. We had a wonderful time checking out Grand Sable falls and Dunes, Au Sable light station, Mosquito Beach, and lovers leap (sea arch). At the end of the day we had over 25k steps!

Absolutely gorgeous place to hike and just explore! Went over Memorial Day weekend β€˜23 and was shocked that it wasn’t crowded at all. Beautiful weather and area. Would love to go back to the UP!

Absolutely stunning views of the cliffs can be viewed either from a boat cruise (highly recommend) or by hiking the Miners Castle trail which is a short hike to get to an overlook of Miners Castle. Kayaking is also another great option, but we didn’t get to do that. Dogs are allowed on most of the trails, but are restricted in some areas so plan ahead.

I didn't go on a boat tour, but I spent time at the Grand Sable dunes and canoed on Grand Sable lake; and swam at Chapel beach right by Chapel Rock. So beautiful! I definitely recommend taking the 3 mile hike down there. It's probably another half mile up to the base of the rock, and there is a cool waterfall there as well. Take lots of bug spray for the hike though.

I went on vacation here last year and it was very interesting. The natural beauty of the pictures rocks is stunning, and there are many activities to do here. I recommended taking the pictured rocks boat tour, or maybe go out for a day and lay on the shores of chapel and mosquito beaches! Kayaking is available, and for swimming I recommend the Au Train river mouth. (Trust me, the river is warmer than the lake)

AWESOME VIEW from the Cruise that I took. Must see the Classic Cruise is 2 & half hours, bring rain coat and check the weather. Make sure your phone is charged. They have upstairs deck and downstairs closed deck with windows. When I went this Friday the inland was 62 degrees, but when you go far out into the lake it was 56 degrees. Thank goodness I dressed for the occasion. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CRUISE TO EVERYONE !!!!

Seeing the beauty of the Pictured Rocks can truly only be fully appreciated in person. The water is stunning, and the rocks are just beautiful! I highly recommend a tour of them one way, or another. We took the Glass Bottom shipwreck tour to see them, which was amazing, as well!

Majestic place and Great Scenic overlooks. It has Beautiful falls and Dunes. Must visit place. The Cruise was also very good. But would recommend trying out Kayaking or taking Pontoon Boats rental instead of Cruise because folks who did that activity got a closer view of Rocks, Falls etc.

Absolutely stunning!!! Confusing to get there as signs and google aren’t quite aligned but it was a great adventure. It got dark quick and there are no lights including in restrooms. So take your phone or a flashlight and enjoy!

Always one of the most beautiful stops in the UP but not always one of the places where I take maternity photos of my beautiful wife and our first baby. This was the log roll overlook that’s closer to Sable Falls on the northern end of the Picture Rocks Lakeshore. Highly recommend exploring this area if you haven’t before!

10/10 recommend!! Such amazing views. Definitely go on a kayak tour and hike the chapel/mosquito loop… it is worth it. Such a fun adventurous vacation!

Take the boat tour it is so worth it. Absolutely beautiful and the hikes we took were amazing and relatively easy for beginners. Usually too cold for a swim but fun to dip your feet in the water anyways. It can get busy during July but it's such a huge area we had a lot of time alone in nature as well.

Absolutely stunning views even from especially with the fall colors. The trails are good but the facilities are very limited. Allow time for a boat tour to truly appreciate the beautiful cliffs and shoreline.

This is a stunning place to visit! Lots of different trails you can take! Very easy hiking to a few of the lookouts! Make sure to have your camera ready, it's absolutely breath taking views!

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I absolutely loved the tour given by Emma and Nancy!!! If you are in the area when they are doing tours, it's worth waiting for one, and then some.
