If you’re looking to get outfitted with anything related to skiing there’s no better place to go get your gear than BackCountry. The staff is super knowledgeable and patient, making sure you get what you need and that all fits. Props to Patrick who made sure I got into the right AT boots, and that they were form fitted to ensure a great skiing experience…which I had for sure and certain. Vr, Beast

I have purchased several items here, had the bindings mounted on my touring skis, skins trimmed etc. The staff is always great. Jason was super helpful & thorough with backpacking cooking gear and prep. Also, great book & map selection. Thank you!

Been into The BackCountry several times. On multiple occasions, I've experienced the shop on the ski side. Great selection of gear and also rentals. Had a pair of ski bindings remounted and the service was flawless. More recently, reserved (in advance) 6 mountain bikes for me and my group to get out for some Truckee fun. The shop called in advance to reconfirm and also get height/weight to get bikes properly set up. Got to the shop and quickly had help and even assisted in getting the bikes loaded on to the car. Without doubt, The BackCountry is my definite go-to.

Excellent selection and customer service. The Backcountry is here to help you chase your dreams! The staff are very knowledgeable and will share that so you can get out and have fun. That’s great value to me!

The staff was friendly and accommodating. I was able to get my brake pads replaced and the brake lines bled for a fraction of what it would have cost me to have just one of my brake lines bled on short notice back home (PDX). Ellis did a great job and I had a great ride due to his efforts. We also rented a couple of e-bikes that performed without flaw. If I don’t end up buying one, I will definitely rent from them again. I highly recommend doing business with this bike shop. Their inventory and staff are truly impressive.

Awesome ski shop! They are extremely knowledgeable and I trust them fully. I get all my tune ups and mounting done there because they are so reliable and professional. I also just got a pair of boots there and Patrick was extremely helpful and did an excellent job fitting me for a great pair of boots!

The crew at The Back Country rocks! Whether getting my bike dialed before a trip or putting it back together when I get back, they are always on it. Also, they are great about checking wear and tear on parts and keeping me up to date. This is important to me because I never feel blindsided when I need to purchase something new as they’ve let me know at the last tuneup to expect it. After buying my previous bike online, I’m more than stoked that I made the switch to a local shop. They’ve gone above and beyond to get me back on the trail as quick as possible when there have been warranty claims. This is my first E-bike. There’s a lot of stuff I don’t know how to work on and their free tuneup for life policy has me covered. To be completely honest, their service department has me sold on the shop. It’s reassuring to be able put all my energy into riding and not fixing my bike. Thanks Guys!

Honestly, one of the best experiences I've had at a bike shop. Everyone at this shop was extremely polite and took the time to educate me on things so I could do my own work. The service is friendly and they were able to squeeze me in on a weekend day for some quick brake work. That doesn't mean they will always have the time to do that for you, but they certainly try to do as much as they can to help people out. I would suggest going here for any service or for any of your bike purchases. You will walk away a happy customer. Jason was especially helpful and you can tell these guys all love mountain bikes and snow sports.

I’ve been struggling, trying to find a bike rack and hitch that would fit my petite size to load and unload my E bike. Jason and Dylan were excellent helping me assemble it and place it on my truck with modifications so I can use it safely They were both really helpful and caring and showed me how to get it on and off the rack. I am so grateful to both of these men and so happy we have the back country in my own neighborhood. The service they provide was beyond my expectations. Thank you guys.

Ordered a bike from these guys online and live in CO. When the bike arrived and there was a discrepancy between what I thought I was getting and what the bike actually came with, I called, explained the issue and was taken care of. They're rational folks who won't run from mistakes and friendly all the way. Highly rec'd, thanks again Patrick!

Helpful, friendly staff — Scott knowledgeably & cheerily advised me on local trails. And plenty of staff so you can quickly get assistance. Serious service center. Excellent selection of women’s mountain bike clothing, including Troy Lee designs and Fox.

Telemark gear by 22 Designs, parts available, jigs for mounting. Telemark bindings for sale. The tech Greg was very patient with me through the whole mounting process and had replacement parts I needed. Stellar ski shop :) they also have a sister store in Olympic Valley at Palisades

Such a great staff and excellent support. Mike the owner really made the buying experience comfortable when I bought two Mountain Ebikes. He really goes the distance to make sure the purchase it right for you. He even made himself available by cell for any questions after the purchase. A great resource to have when riding Truckee. I highly recommend them.

Excellent service by Jehren today. Made buying a new helmet and ski goggles super easy. Smoothest purchase I’ve ever made.

We needed gear on Thanksgiving Day to rescue our cat from a branch 30 feet up in a Jeffrey pine (all of our climbing gear was 200 miles away). They had a full selection of ropes, harnesses, grigris and locking carabiners, and we got great advice on how to get the rope over the branch. Cat is down and we can enjoy our Thanksgiving. Thanks for being there for us!

Knowledgeable and very helpful staff. I bought s roof rack, and Scott made sure it fit my car - and installed it for me. I've also bought cross country skis there, and the staff was very helpful.

Needed new roof racks, showed up an hour before closing, the employees put the new racks together out of the box and helped me put them on the car. Highly recommend, would come here again.

I was looking for a bike rack for my car. Jason found the perfectrack, asked all the right questions and could not have been more helpful. These guys have our business in Truckee from now on. Cannot recommend them highly enough

Can’t say good enough things about this place. I needed a CSU for my fork and they were impossible to source. I called here in a last effort and Patrick actually got one from SRAM after he called. Service is great, shop is clean and always has bikes in it (somehow?). Next bike purchase will be from this shop

I can't say enough great things about this shop. Super solid gear selection for biking, skiing, climbing, hiking and more. Very knowledgeable and kind staff. To top it off, supporting local gear shops is the way to go. Highly recommend!!

I bought this 2022 Norco Range C2 a year ago. I bashed the frame on a rock and put a hole it it. The guys at The Backcountry processed the crash warranty for it through Norco and got the bike back in much better condition than when I dropped it off. They tuned it and even washed the bike (had salt caked all over it from Bonneville Salt Flats). Great friendly and knowledgeable staff.

👍👍 Broke a spoke at the end of a Northstar day and every other bike shop in town told me to not even bother coming in. I called Pacos and said to come on in. They had it fixed within the hour, they have beer on tap while you wait, and a cute shop dog. They’ve gained loyal customers for life.
