Everything is so, so, good. The Masala Curry, Chicken Pulao, Samosas, chutney, the sauce that comes with the Pulao, the Naan. If people find out about this place there will be a line out the door. Not to mention the owner is funny, friendly, welcoming and down to earth. I could go on! 12/10 would recommend.

This is the best Curry chicken I've ever had. The samosas are just as delicious. The service was beyond my expectations they were all so warm and welcoming. My girlfriend and I came here a year ago. We had a long day of travel and just wanted some food. At first we were put off by the prices and small nature of the restaurant. But once we tried this food we were blown away. The chicken masala is so tender and full of flavor. Now, a year later, we have made a point to go every time we are in the area. Just had it again tonight and it was as amazing as the first time. Best Indian food I’ve ever had, no contest. The owners are also very kind as well!

What a great experience! The gentleman and his wife that operate this place were such a pleasure to spend time with. This is a no BS (British Substitute) establishment. Authentic ingredients with a flair for historical context completed my day. Do yourself a favor and partake. I could see this restaurant becoming very crowded with the help of 5 apprentices that desired to learn from a true master of his craft. Enjoy and go back often. This book is so much better than it’s aged dustcover.

This place has the best Indian food I have had in the area, for sure going back again! Might grab some ice cream next time as well! Awesome owner and chef! Having been to India before, this brings me back to the authentic flavors that I look for! Love this place!

HEARTBROKEN! I waited over a week to write this because I was so upset. I've been coming here since it opened, bringing all our friends and family. Vijay always had large portions and the food was delicious 100% of the time. About 4 or 5 months ago I brought my order home and noticed the portion was quite a bit smaller and the sauce was on top of the rice. Someone new was there, I didn't think much of it, considering inflation might be the reason for the smaller portions. Although I was going to miss leftovers the next day, the food was still delicious. The smaller portions didn't stop us from returning. However, last week my husband and I sat down to eat and we both noticed the chicken masala was extremely watery with not much flavor at all. Then about a 1/2 an hour later, both of us got sick. I don't think it was food poisoning, because we were only sick one time with abdominal cramping and diarrhea. Unfortunately, I think it might be a sanitation issue. So with a heavy heart I'm saying "goodbye" to my once favorite restaurant in all of Portland.

Happy to say I was genuinely surprised at how good this place is! I lived in Portland for 17 years and have long had trouble finding decent Indian food, only to find it here in Gladstone. The menu is small, but that's probably for the best. The quality of the food was quite satisfactory.

Vegan channa said potatoes, vegetables. Looks like a can of garbanzo beans in red sauce. Chicken masala said potatoes, peas. Two chicken thighs with one chunk of potato in red sauce. Samosas only decent part of the meal. Really disappointed. This place used to be good.

omfg, portion sizes gigantic, food delicious, price very reasonable id consider cheap with the price of chicken now days, My girlfriend and I had the masala, samosa, and a side of naan. Very basic but let me tell you everything was cooked to perfection and dont you get me started on the chutney, yummmm. The cherry on top too is that the family that runs the place is the most humble and kind hearted son and father. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED , if you're wondering if you should check this place out, the time is nigh.

The curry chicken is incredibly good! The gentleman who was there was so genuine! We decided before even tasting the food that we would be back, because his service was so heart warming. 10 stars for serive and quality of food!!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time. Finally made it in today and OH MY GOSH. The food is amazing, the best chutney I’ve ever had. The chicken masala is so tender and flavorful. The naan is cooked perfectly- chewy and light. Samosas are filled and delicious. Steven/Stephen is the sweetest guy I’ve ever met! I will definitely be back. The large chicken Masala can easily feed 2-3 people. It has 6 full chicken thighs. I’ll be back for sure!

Phenomenal. Saag - unreal! Delicious and always a pleasant interaction with the friendly and welcoming chef. I went two days in a row. I’m eager to go back soon. Everything was excellent.

There are many mini marts and food options around but why give business to corporations when you can give it to people who actually live and love here in our community. This is not just some of the best Indian food I have had, this is some of the best food I have EVER had. The food was full of flavor and tasted DIVINE. The people who work here are so kind and wonderful. Please go here, you will not regret it.

Exceptional quality. Our meals felt like they were made with love in the home of a dear friend. Fantastic service. The owner is personable and overall lovely in demeanor. Masala Box is one of the eateries you must try when in Portland. DO NOT miss out!

Very small from the outside, almost didn't look like a place with food but let me tell you, the smell when walking in is heaven. The owner is very polite and very happy to see anyone walk in the door. Chatted with him for a bit and could tell he is such a beautiful soul. Directed us to a park while we were waiting for food (Roseburg local here) and gave us a time to come back when it was ready and he was a man of his word with his timing. I recommend getting one of the mango smoothies while you wait, it is out of this world. My only complaint is that there wasn't any seating inside to relax and eat and get to know the owner and his family more. Will definitely be back

This is not a sit down restaurant. Cashier/cook/owner was very appreciative and friendly. I really wanted to like the food but the masala chicken was watery(not creamy) and flavor was unimpressive. Vegan saag was better but tasted average and I was really hoping for chunks of zucchini, maybe tofu, or something besides a uniform mush. Spiciness was good. Naan was tasty. Order was hot and brought right to my car. If I come back in a couple months I will try a different dish but honestly probably won't be back. 😓 Maybe use tapioca starch for gluten free alternative.

The best Indian food around Portland. I'm from the south and I love spicy food that has flavor and a lot of Indian food places have spice but it's not flavorful just very spicy. But that's not the case for masala box, it has excellent flavor for the spiciest level. Great proportions for a great price. I will definitely eat here again, not only is the food amazing but the customer service is great not only do they care about making great food they care about great service.

Service was amazing!!! Steven was so kind and responsive Samosa was THE BEST I've ever had. The sauce was so flavorful and the right amount of sweetness. Chicken Masala was my favorite!!! I got medium spice. Sooooo flavorful and lots of it. Wow wow wow. Juicy tender chicken Curry was good, heaping portions! I got medium spice. I think like 7 thighs and 2 massive potato halves. Also very tender! I do wish the sauce was thicker and stuck to the rice more but the flavor was great! Shrimp vindaloo was good. I got the spicy level. I think it came with 8-10 jumbo shrimp. Very flavorful too, just wish the sauce was thicker and stuck to the rice more. Overall, I will ABSOLUTELY come back here. It's 10 mins from me and the service was great. If you're in a rush, call ahead. I think we waited about 35 mins for 3 large dishes. Parking is limited to about 4-5 spaces. Honestly the wait was not bad considering we arrived within an hour of closing! Next time I will likely just get 2 dishes, samosa and garlic naan

Delicious spot -- I like to stop here after lifting weights. I've found in Gladstone that there's a dearth of good food spots with vegan options that include a protein. This place hits the spot! I like to grab some food here then enjoy it on the waterfront. Owner is friendly and the food is well-priced. I come here semi-regularly now.

We had the vegan samosas and chicken masala curry. The samosa was good. My girlfriend didn’t love them because she doesn’t like peas (I’ve been trying to fix that for years). I thought the samosas were great, crispy and well cooked on the outside and the herb sauce that came with it was delicious, the perfect flavor punch on the samosa. The chicken masala was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy and not overcooked. The flavor was rich, deep and delicious. I actually can’t get over just how good this flavor was, it really did it for me. The naan was thick and chewy and soaked up the sauce nicely. We had this to go so it lost some of its fresh crisp straight out of the oven but it was very good. I think I make my naan too thin so I’m going to start experimenting with my dough proportions. Curious if there is asafoetida and fenugreek in the masala curry or not because it’s cooked down with onion and garlic. I know sometimes those flavors can stack up but maybe there’s some secret of embossing this amount of flavor in the curry that I don’t know! Wish I could spend a day in this kitchen!!

I got the chicken masala curry with nan bread. The curry looked a little different than I’m use to, but it tastes amazing. However, I was disappointed in the nan. It didn’t have much flavor, so I added my own garlic and butter at home. Steven was really nice. I’ll definitely be back for the the chicken curry! Only suggestion would be to add garlic nan to the menu! 🙂

If I could give this place ten stars I would. The best curry I've ever tasted. Made with authentic ingredients. I cant get enough of it i come at least once a week. The portions are large and I get 2 meals in the 12 dollar chicken masala and the nah bread is so delicious 😋 😋 😋 😋 😋. I promise you will love it and the owners are so sweet
