Even though we are really familiar with German food, for some reason, we have never been into this establishment. Our whole party of four people was blown away! First of all, the schnitzel is incredible. Served over a bed of tasty fries. Called Pommes. Some said that the fries get soggy in the steam under the schnitzel, but I thought they tasted very good, and or covered in coarse salt. Don’t bother asking for ketchup here, they are served with mayo. Give it a try! The curry sausage also taste very authentic, similar to what you might get in Berlin. The four of us shared a giant pretzel and ordered a side of the Bavarian cheese called Obatzta. I may have misspelled that. So the pretzel is excellent with that cheese, or also with a very spicy, grainy mustard that it comes with. There’s a tasty, mayonnaise-based potato salad that they made by hand. Everything seems to be made by hand. Of course, there’s a large selection of beer on tap, and not only Bavarian ones. One person in our party ordered a Berlin white beer with syrup. You can get red or green. Take a look at my pictures of the store. You can get bread, flour, baking mixes, gummy worms in candy, chocolates, pickles, even cosmetic items from Europe. Highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back! By the way, there are a few tables inside, a few in their wine garden, which is like a bar inside, and then there are a couple tables outside.

Das Alpenhaus isn't just a German deli. It's a whole experience that everyone should experience. You've gotta love the adorable grocery store that has tons of European goodies and novelties. It's hard not to grab something while waiting for your food. I'll keep this short and sweet because I could go on and on. My absolute favorite item on the menu is the Schnitzel Sandwich (thinly pressed pork cutlet, egg washed, breaded and then fried served on a pretzel bun with mustard, mayonnaise, and fresh cucumbers, onions, tomato and lettuce. $11.99). Holy schmoley this sandwich is huge but you'll want it all to yourself. The schnitzel is about twice as big as the pretzel bun. I was already feeling full even before digging into the pretzel bun. Every bite is heavenly!!! Perfectly breaded and fried. My other faves are the Reuben Sandwich and Bratwurst on a Brötchen, but I'm convinced you can't go wrong with whatever you get at Das Alpenhaus. Highly recommend!

First time to visit. Ordered sandwiches and soup at the counter and waited 15 minutes for food to be prepared and served. You can order German beer on tap to enjoy with your meal. Depending on the German beer you order (e.g. Lager, Kölsch, weissbier [hefeweizen, dunkelweizen, etc.]), you will get the appropriate Stange or Weizen or etc. glass. The dining area has 4-6 small tables (2-seaters) plus two larger bench tables that can seat 4-6 people each. Patrons are responsible for bussing their own tables. Relaxed atmosphere with German music playing (modern artists). There is also outdoor seating; as cold as temps were, there were still folks who were enjoying their beers there. In addition to the dining, there is a small market section where you will find an excellent assortment of imported goods (jellies, pastas, baking mixes, snacks, chocolates, etc.) as well as beers. The place was crowded when we visited at around 4:45 p.m. We recommend this place if you are wanting tasty German food and beer. Friendly service. Thanks for a great experience!

Delicious Reubens and schnitzel plus lots of German beer on tap! Great bottle shop for German beer too! They also have various German food items and a meat counter. One of Boise's gems!

Came here to get a hot lunch after a pretty moderate hike in the foothills. Husband and I both got the schnitzel sandwich and man, did it hit the spot! We look forward to coming back to trying other dishes on their menu and to get some candies and other imported goods in their little market section of the business.

Fantastic *edit* Added this because the owner actually seen it. So I just went in with my wife and father in law(German national) to take him for a father's day lunch. We got 2 huge pretzels, 2 schnitzel, a pastrami , and beers. Food was wonderful, staff was so nice, and the place was clean and inviting. My family will be coming back, and my father in law loved it. A wonderful place made a wonderful memory, thank you

This is by far my favorite place in Boise. The food is excellent, the beer is outstanding, the service is wonderful! I’ve been here so many times that I’m ashamed I haven’t left a review before! If you love German food, jovial service and beer, you had best come here. Guten appetit!!!

I only went once but the atmosphere, beer, and food did not disappoint. I tried the schnitzel sandwich and it was HUGE and extremely delicious. A lovely little gem tucked away on the bench.

Great German fair and beer, but on the expensive side. Paying for quality and original German ingredients I suppose! 4 star - Would enjoy going back!

Excellent food, waitstaff just lovely. My only two negatives are the chairs are uncomfortable and the water is room temp with no ice. Highly recommend them! I had the schnitzel sandwich and it was wonderful

This place is absolutely incredible! The food is delicious. The staff is friendly and kind. They have a nice little shop where you can buy some important goods. The schnitzel sandwich is so good. I've tried several of the sausage dishes as well. This place does not disappoint.

A great deli with delicious and flavorful food along with a nice selection of German treats and beers. Their schnitzel is tender and delicious and the pretzel bun is soft and perfect for the sandwiches. Everything is made fresh so when busy there might be a wait but the food is worth it and the service friendly. A great option for lunch or a quick dinner.

Cool deli and grocery store. I'm not familiar with German/Austrian/Swedish food, so I'm in no position to say what the selection was like - but from my perspective they seemed to carry a nice variety of crackers, candies, meats, cookies, etc. I ordered a brat with sauerkraut and a pretzel - they were all very good! They have tables inside and out to eat food that you order. I'll definitely go back!

Fun place with a cool little side market full of goodies. The pork schnitzel and fries was magnificent! Couple of cold ones to wash it down.

Got the schnitzel sandwich and the bratwurst. It was so good! The schnitzel was cooked perfectly! The bratwurst was so good. The pretzel bread on the sandwich was amazing. I am going to try everything on the menu. The menu is small so it won't be hard to do. The shop is also really great they have a lot of different German food and candy. I'm especially excited to try the syrups. This place is great. They are even open until 8:00 p.m.

Delicious German sandwich and beer shop. The schnitzel sandwich is a family favorite. Don't be in a rush though - all food made to order.
