Perhaps I was expecting too much. I wanted thick pastrami on rye like I saw on other reviews. What I got was akin to the corner store pastrami and soggy french fries. Yuck!It was not good. I'm not sure if the day I went was an off day, but if you look at my pics compared to other reviewers, there's a bit of a difference. I can't, in good conscience, recommend this spot. At least not for a pastrami sandwich.

A delicatessen serving Jewish Canadian/Montreal specialties. Came here for the smoked meat and tried it both as hash and a sandwich. Unfortunately, can't recommend either. The hash was potato forward and the smoked meat sandwich lacked the texture I expect from brisket (parts of the meat was crunchy/cartilage-like). Others recommend the bagels. Servers were attentive. Both indoor and outdoor seating

Had to update my review. Used to be one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. Took here all my friends and family. But today had a quite bad experience. Ordered takeout and after 1 hour drive founded smoked meat poutine without meat at all and with some plastic peace inside as a bonus. Highly disappointed. Everything else was great and I still think that their Ruben is one of the best in the city.

I used to love going there until today where I ate one half of my bagel and realized the other half had mold on it. Choosing to believe that the half I ate was not moldy.

Great food, comfortable seating, friendly service. Inside and outside seating. Some dude left a 1 star review recently which is just way off-base. I really love their smoked meat poutine (tender juicy cubes of brisket atop a classic poutine). The brisket sandwich is not that typical bbq style flaky brisket its more of a sliced and grilled thing so just be aware of that going in. I recommend the brisket sandwich and then ask for hot sauce that you can add. I recommend the poutines, any of them are good. They serve beer too.

This is up there in the top delicatessen conversations. The Canadian take is well worth it and you won’t leave hungry. Staff is very nice as well.

We went to the Mile End Delicatessen because of the classics - brisket sandwich and home-made hot dog. And we were more than happy. Mile End Delicatessen has a rich selection of brisket sandwiches from which we tasted the Corned Beef Rueben and the Bubbie's Brisket. Both were juicy and deliciously satisfying. We accompanied them with the home-made fries which were great. The classic hot dog was all we wanted from a hot dog - succulent and tasty. But if you are open for a new way of serving and eating hot dogs, go for the Hoyt Dog - it's a kind of small pastry bites filled with beef frank, and baked in an oven. This creates a nice thin crunchy crust over it. We were perfectly happy with our orders, for which the staff was helping a lot. Also everything was served fast and freshly warm.

We walked in around 8:45 on a Friday night and the guy working there seemed super unhappy that someone had walked in. We ordered the Montreal beef sandwich (large) and a cream soda. He came back to us with a can of room temperature soda and no ice… when we asked for ice, he dryly told us that they had already cleaned the ice machine in preparation for closing… which is weird since they don’t close until 10 and he made it seem like they were closing at 9pm. The sandwich came out and it did not look very large but honestly that’s all fine because the sandwich was bad. I mean the meat was so dry that it was hard to swallow. In order for both of us to eat half of the sandwich. We had to basically chug cream soda with each bite.

Mile End Delicatessen exceeded expectations for brunch. The hash and omelettes were fantastic, and the Devoción coffee was delicious. The bustling atmosphere indicates its popularity, so I recommend making a reservation for a seamless experience. Definitely a five-star brunch spot!

Dropped in for a quick light lunch. Matzo soup really tasty. Bagel with salmon, cream cheese, capers and red onion. Fresh, tasty and nice service. Canadian style.

Great lunch, excellent corned beef Reuben. Juicy hot corned beef, kraut, dressing, swiss on Pumpernickel bread was delicious. Bagels with lox done right. Thank you! My food experience in Brooklyn is complete.

I went here for the first time after passing by a few times. If you're not looking for it, you may miss it. It's tucked near the corner betwen some other businesses. I had the Smoked Meats Sandwich with, Montreal style beef brisket with mustard on rye. The meat is thick cut with a mild smokey taste. It's something I would buy again. I would just ask for the mustard on the side

Ashamed to admit I've never actually stepped foot into the restaurant. Nonetheless, for my two years of ordering delivery, they have always delivered--figuratively and literally. Incredible Montreal Jewish style deli food, for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner (plus few nice desert options). I must have eaten most the things off their menu by now. My orders have always been on time and correct; never had a single complaint. Menu recommendations: the Smoked Meat Sandwich (essential), a regular Poutine (essential), Spicy Schnitzel Sandwich, Lipitorminator, the Chopped Liver, and the Pu Pu Platter (appetizer assortment). P.S. they also have bagels.

So delicious! We ordered the smoked meat sandwich and the classic poutine. Both were very tasty! There’s no indoor sitting.

5 out of 5 gotta try. This is a really fun modern-esk take on a NY deli. Meats are great. Beers are cheap. Definitely going to try the poutine next time and a few other things. I liked it a lot but it’s not the most traditional NY deli on this side of the East river.

One of my favorite spots, and for good reason. Everything is homemade and delicious. Even down to the pickles. And they make the best carrot cake I’ve ever had in my life. 100% worth all of the praise they get.

Awesome spot for breakfast. A little on the pricey side but welcome to restaurants post covid. Food was good I ate the brisket and egg bagel. Drip coffee was ok. Server was friendly. It was a nice, clean restaurant and bathroom. Will return if I’m in the area.

Authentic, honestly as good as Schwartz’s in Montreal and I just tried that a few weeks ago. You need to try Mile End’s smoked meat sandwich. You must.

They are famous for their bagels which I haven't tried yet. But my breakfast sandwich was great, I like the interior and the staff was mostly friendly :-) I will come back.

Only recently had dinner in this place. You can come back here only because of the service. It’s great! Smoked meat sandwich - no worse than in Katz definitely! Delicious!! if you take a coleslaw and fries come out a little pricey, but it's worth it, and portions a huge, it seems you can take large one for two people. Smoked meat poutine was also not bad, but it's hard to tell, since it was the first time we tried this dish)) and great beer at amazing prices! definitely come here for another brunch! Price per person $20-30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Smoked meat sandwich

Full disclosure: Every lunch and dinner item I’ve had here is phenomenal, but the bagels are lackluster. All in all though, Mile End still easily warrants 5 stars for its truly awesome sandwiches, cool and convenient location, and fairly reasonable prices. They market themselves as a Canadian restaurant. True. Jewish influence. Also true. Standard sandwich shop is true too. All that really matters though is that the lunch and dinner food is really really really good.

Latkes: thick, flavorful, good. Kugel: non-traditional as it's cheesey, but tastes good. Chocolate babka: Hard, served cold so maybe I'd like it more warmed up? I asked if they could warm it, told no.

This hot dog had a great snap, was served on a toasted challah roll, and paired well with a mustard/relish combo. If you're in the area, it's pretty good but nothing to go out of your way for! Unfortunately the matzo ball soup wasn’t very good. The matzo ball itself was not at all fluffy

Incredible reuben, although I brought it back to my hotel and by that time the bread had steamed up a bunch. But that’s on me. Use their outdoor seating if you can! Good service although maybe a bit slow for 5pm.

Came here with a friend on Saturday 12pm. I recommend making a reservation because the indoor seating area can get tight. The SPICY SCHNITZEL sandwich has a good balance of pickled onions and meat, but I would have liked it a little more spicy. The CORNED BEEF REUBEN sandwich was the highlight of the meal. Super moist and creamy, but not soggy. Corned beef was juicy, but not falling apart. The BLACK coffee has good flavor (the menu says it’s from Devoción). They take card but we paid in cash to save a dollar or two.

Great poutines and amazing customer service. The restaurant was cozy with lots of seating. The menu featured lots of items that are Canadian specials. Would recommend if you’re craving a good poutine or smoked meat sandwich

Excellent food and service too! We ate outside on a hot day on the porch there. It was delicious: we got latkes, turkey sandwich, spicy schnitzel sandwich with fries, slaw and pickles, double cheeseburger with same (not well done enough but apparently still tasted quite good), classic poutine which was also very good. Glad to have a high quality deli in the neighborhood, especially with outdoor seating as we are still COVID cautious.

Probably the best poutine I've had outside of Quebec. They also have a great selection of beers.

The food was so good I almost cried. I ordered the Big Jewcey with Smoked meat poutine. It sounded great reading it on the menu, it looked beautiful when it came out, and it tasted better than I could've imagined. Never been happier eating a meal anywhere.

Great deli bridging two cuisines together perfectly; Jewish deli and Montreal specialities. Highly recommend the soup, latkes, sandwiches and poutines.

On the hunt for a pastrami sandwich on a Monday afternoon, we stumbled upon this unassuming spot. The SPICY SCHNITZEL sandwich (chicken cutlet + harissa mayo on a brioche bun) was faultless and satisfying, while the SMOKED MEAT sandwich (beef brisket & mustard on rye) was generic. The orange juice was a bit of a disappointment to me because, for that price point, I had expected the freshly squeezed variety. Final verdict – will be back to try out some of the other offerings that caught my eye.

I hesitate to give negative reviews but after paying $11+ (tip) for a chicken noodle soup with one thumbnail sized chicken piece, hardly any noodle and the broth tasted old, I just want to let others know. Also, I thought this delicatessen would definitely have great soups given price and location. They’ve got to work on their food just tasting better. Broth smells of beef bone broth and no simmering at all. Additionally, waited outside in the cold while I had to ask for them to just give me the soup cold bc no one was in the kitchen. Further, I ordered two soups of which the person taking my order didn’t even know they no longer had any of them. I tipped based on cost and eventually was refunded since I wasn’t given both soups but tip was not discussed. I usually try to tip well but one of the only times I’d ask for a refund on that too. We’ll see if the refund for soup #2 even comes through.

Turkey sandwich was over cooked and portions very small. Cost 22$. Outrageous. Took back and they replaced but no indication in menu that u could have the turkey cold or heated. Spoke to manager who was very amenable and courteous. Suggested should note in menu either hot or cold can be served. Portions were also very small. Ate there before and no problem. Staff issue must be addressed. Manager refunded my money very graciously without me asking. Hopefully things will change. 22$ is a lot to pay. Meat was tender and tasty.

Cute and cool. No indoor seating right now with very limited outdoor seating in the sun. Food was good but a little underwhelming from the hype I read. And a bit pricey too. Not good value. Would like to try again with indoor seating and to try other dishes.
