Super cute, clean, bright light brunch on Market just west of Octavia. I chose 5 items for $16. A mix of cheese, pickled fish, delicious yogurt, bread & butter, beautifully soft scrambled eggs and a coffee. Sitting at the window bar facing out into the morning sunlight was the perfect cozy way to enjoy breakfast, watching foot traffic with the morning sun warming me on a chilly SF morning. Highly recommend and will be back to try out the other mix and match brunch items.

One of the best brunch places in S.F.! From the ambience, to the fresh orange juice, the insanely good latte and almost every item on the board (the runny egg was not runny). They were very late in getting us our items, but they were apologetic and gave us pastry for free. The cinnamon knot was probably the best I’ve had! Note that it gets super busy so you might have to share a table with others for a while (sitting is DIY). Tip: the 7 item board comfortably fed two of us. Next time I’m trying the ham and egg - looked delicious. Only other place that I still rank just a bit more highly is Plain Jain. Great for a brunch date!

Scandinavian breakfast is somehow both fresh, healthy and delicious. Too many choices to try in one seating. The fish pastes and homemade sausage are both packed with flavor and everything is tied together with earthy bread. Also finally a cardamom bun that doesn’t skimp on cardamom. Coffee could be better but still a strong five stars overall.

Kantine is one of my new favorite spots in SF. This Scandinavian restaurant serves a variety of items from pastries to porridge bowls to "build-your-own-brunch" options. The first time I came here I ordered the savory grain porridge which is a 3-grain porridge with asparagus, kale, and farmers cheese. You can choose to add a runny egg and crispy bacon bits as well if you would like for an extra charge. (I came to Kantine on an empty stomach and did not know that they serve a pretty large serving, which is by no means a bad thing). This porridge is so good! I had no idea that asparagus and farmers cheese work so well in a porridge. I also ordered their yogurt bowl because once again I had no idea how much all that food would be. The yogurt bowl was creamy and moderately sweet from the berry purée and tangy from what I think were sea buckthorns. I need to study up on this Kantine is the perfect place to grab a casual bite or more filling meal both solo or with close friends and family.

Everything we tried was delicious. Option to choose/customize several items for the brunch board is so fun. The ham and cheese sandwich was recommended by one of the staff, huge portion, very crispy croissant like bread with assorted seeds on the outside. Flaky and delicious! Grilled cheese and tomato soup was a smaller portion but I really enjoyed it! Indoor and outdoor seating available. Self serve water and utensils.

This place is awesome! The food was absolutely delicious. It's on Market, but isn't rush/crowded outside. We had brunch and brought home pastry. Good selection of wines and beer. Super fun atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Quick service and delicious food. I was really pleasantly surprised by my kale and barley salad. The dressing was so good! Some of the sandwiches are kind of small though for the price. You order first and then seat yourself, so it can sometimes take a while on a crowded morning but it’s kind of random, sometimes there’s plenty of seating. Good indoor/outdoor options. They got rid of their boards which is definitely a huge devastation per my sister lol. But still not a deterrent from going there!

Got the salad it was delicious, beets, seeds, dressing was all excellent. Egg sandwich with their bread was great. Cardamom roll pastry was ok, too much Cardamom and the pastry was slightly on the soggy side. Atmosphere is a little unkept but not so bad.

Great vibes. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. I was served food and drinks despite coming in 10 minutes before closing on a Sunday and allowed to stay later to finish my meal peacefully while the staff cleaned up around me. Definitely want to become a regular around here. The pastries are quite unique (not quite as good as Asian pastries tbh but still quite nice). Menu looks really appetizing so I want to check all those out too. Thanks!

We wanted to experience Scandinavian breakfast, and everyone was very satisfied and impressed. Excellent food, very fresh ingredients, good service. Interior is Scandinavian minimalist style as you would expect and a part of the experience. (I say this as someone who is not a big fan of minimalism, but I respect it. Just not my thing.) So five stars for atmosphere, too.

The open faced trout sandwich, while wildly overpriced, is ABSOLUTELY delicious. It’s light. The trout is magnificent. And the accoutrements are wonderful. Everything here is delicious, albeit priced way higher than it should be. But perhaps that is just SF real estate prices? Anyway, highly Recommend!

I keep loving this place. Their savory porridge breakfast is phenomenal, and their coffee is great. I haven’t explored their pastries, but they sure do look delicious!

I definitely recommend stopping in here for brunch! It's a pretty unique experience since SF has relatively few Scandinavian restaurants relative to other cuisines. I like to get one or two fresh pastries plus the brunch Board and share with one or two other people so we all get to try a lot of things. There's usually quite a line, but most good brunch in San Francisco requires standing in line :) It is a very causal vibe, and open seating, so you might share a communal table in order to be seated more quickly.

I was intrigued by this place as I love the idea of tasty, healthy and fresh brunch food - it’s time for something that’s not your typical egg Benedict! Overall I’d say I liked this place and would go back to try more dishes. We got the 7-piece board with bacons, sausage, scrambled eggs, yogurt, beet sauce, bread and cauliflower, as well as a trout bowl. The board was quite tasty, although the cauliflower and the beet spread could be a little more flavorful. The trout bowl was delicious but it could be a little bigger. When I think of bowls I tend to think of something that has grains, but this one doesn’t and I left feeling a little hungry. We got there at 10:45am on a rainy day so the wait wasn’t too bad, about 15 mins. Service was very fast.

one of my favorite places in the city to get a light meal. everything is so fresh and even using only a few ingredients, flavors were complex and balanced. the interior of this place is also cute, lots of seating. salmon scandwich: fresh and high quality ingredients but wasn’t a big fan of the bread they used cardamom bun: tasty and big portions but la cabra in nyc is better

Must try place if you love food and have not had Scandinavian food. Had brunch board which can be substituted with vegan/vegetarian options. The day I went It got busy around 11 am, Would be good idea to order ahead if you just take out and dine outdoors. Also ordered Tebirkes (pastry) and strawberry lemonade, It was wonderful. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.

Happened to see this place here on Google maps and it blew me away. I usually only write reviews if they are good and this is no exception. The oatmeal is wonderful and the coffee is delicious. The cured trout is something else. I didn't feel like spending enough to try their tasting menu options but they looked good. There is a lot of seating but it does fill up in the morning.

Great coffee , great vibe. The cappuccino was delicious, the chicken open sandwhich was nothing special and just chicken pieces in mayo on nice bread. I will have to come back and try something else as I think there is a lot of potential.

One of my favorite brunch places in SF. Have been here multiple times and will keep coming back. Extremely fresh fish and ingredients and a unique from your typical brunch place. Coffee and pastries are superb as well - can’t say enough great things about this place!
