What a great introduction to the Chicago area! I flew in from Oregon and this was recommended by my hotel staff. I ordered the Captain's cutlet and, was very impressed. It started with a meatball and cabbage soup, served with fresh bread and fried pork fat spread. A cold local IPA, provided good balance. The pork cutlet was perfect, a mushroom sauce and cheese stuffed wonder, was perfectly cooked. The potatoes with fresh dill accompanied the cutlet, with 3 different pickled salads. Another IPA helped wash everything down and was perfect with the meal. To say I was full and impressed, put it lightly. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful introduction to the Illinois restaurant scene.

Talk about traditional Polish cuisine, and this place is on the list. Between the Chicken Paw, the Captain’s Cutlet and the Breaded Pork Chop you can’t go wrong! Talk about savory, juicy and tender food that’s got the home cooking feel and taste!

My plan was to come here for the longest time ,and finally made it, Food was delicious and yes I ordered all that for myself 😋. The waitress Terasa she was amazing Beautiful smile and excellent service. Definitely coming back soon as I’m in the area. Oh yeah almost forgot food prices should be higher!!! Trying to find good polish place for hearty meals in the area, and stepped upon this one. Wow, it’s good! You have to try it. The captain’s cutlet and the pork shank is amazing. The size of the dish is big, prepare to have some take aways for next meal!

I was visiting IL on business and wanted a true Polish dinner. U Gazdy did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and the food was both authentic and tasty. Nice atmosphere as well. I will definitely return next time I am the the area!

I've been here a few times and it has always been delicious. Fresh and original, this is my go to Polish spot in the area. Red Borsch soup with dumplings, polish plate, and their amazing homemade bread and a smalec!

Food was very traditional from what i know. It was all very good especially the salmon appetizer. The veal plate with mushrooms was decent but i thought it could use some sort of sauce. The zucchini pancakes were delicious. The service however was pretty bad. They were very nice, but it just seemed they didnt know what they were doing. They took our drink orders but forgot to ask me and walked away before we could stop them. Some of the silverware came out dirty. Everyone's drink was empty before we had to flag them down for a refill. Hopefully they can find some real servers.

Properly authentic. From the patrons to the beer. If you don’t know where to start on the menu, go with the Polish platter. So glad the chef allowed me to order it outside of lunch because it was delicious.

Today and a week ago, my option was (the same)… the polish plate. The sausage is one of the best, cabbage roll covered by mushroom sauce indescriptible. Everything taste fresh. If you are in the area and want to explore something new… visit this restaurant, you won’t regret it!!!

Authentic polish highlander restaurant in Wood Dale. The interior is unbelieveable - all laquered pine wood walls, tables, chairs and benches. Food is fresh, well-prepared and tastes the way it is supposed to taste - delicious. If you are looking to taste polish cuisine, this is the place. Duck, pork chops and dumplings were ordered and everyone was pleased.

Overall, the meal and experience was so-so. My family and I recently dined here. We arrived right when they opened. As far as wait staff: they were good; semi-attentive. I will say we did not get or was asked for any drink refills during our dining time. All but one person at our table had the highlander-style potato pancake (so, potato pancake with goulash). The potato pancake was tough and without flavor really…it was really difficult to cut through it ironically…and the goulash was bland as well; really not much flavor for a stew. My portion didn’t have much meat in it either. The worst part was the food was lukewarm. Same thing with our soups: they really weren’t that hot. Perhaps, all would have been better if it was hotter. Then, someone else at our table got a chicken cutlet and it could have been cooked a bit longer. The edges were ok but the center wasn’t as done. I’m not sure but it seems some of the items were already prepared and then reheated…which for some of those items is understandable but ensure food is up to temp before serving. We also had beer from the tap, and it was rather flat and not ice cold as I expected. I will say though the bread and spread was delicious and the cold salmon app was good as well. But those two good items isn’t enough to convince me to come back. I will say that I was expecting a lot more from this restaurant. If you’re new to Polish cuisine, I suppose this place can be a good start. However, if you’ve been to Poland and/or know Polish food well, I think this place might be a disappointment to you.

Delicious! We ordered the zucchini potato pancakes, roasted lamb, breaded pork, beef stroganoff, and chicken pinwheels. Terrific atmosphere and the food was top notch. Soup was a little slow to come out of the kitchen but it's a holiday, so that's normal. Definitely recommend! Dziękuję!

We had a fantastic dinner here. Really beautiful food presentation. You can tell chef takes pride in his food. Almost all our food was delicious except for the Pierogi that I wasn’t a big fan of. Our server Eden was amazing, despite some hard time the other table was giving her due to excessive alcohol. She was always smiling when she got to our table. We really liked their outdoors too, which is a safe area for us during Covid waves. They seemed to have a lot of customers. We would come again!

As authentic as it gets when it comes to Polish cuisine. You get to choose from different pierogies when you order I got the potato and cheese along with the sauerkraut and sausage. If I’m not wrong, it was extremely delicious before that they gave me bread with their homemade butter, mixed with onions and bacon fat. It was extremely delicious for my main course. I had the stuffed cabbage, which seemed like something that would be impossible to make but they got it down right now. Good amount of sausage, meat, mixed with cabbage wrapped in. The red sauce was what was recommended so I went with the recommendation. With my entrée they provided a choice of soup I went with the chicken noodle, which was good, but I wish I would’ve tried the other which was a beef and radish soup if I’m not wrong, my friend made the recommendation to try that soup next time, so it seems like a place that I will frequent whenever I’m in Illinois Chicago area.

U Gazdy is such an incredible place with its traditional Zakopane highlander vibe and with folks who actually speak Polish. Delicious restaurant with many menu options and a menu for lunch. The food is packed with flavor and they even serve local wine from Lynfred. The bread was soft and fresh, and since the serving sizes are plentiful, we had plenty for leftovers. I had the chicken paw - Will definitely be back!
