This is a cute and unique little piece of MPLS. It's well maintained, has plenty of places to view it from, and a really nice park surrounds it. However I found the actual lighthouse to be a bit underwhelming. It is really small, and kind of looks like it belongs in a doll house or something in my opinion.

Be a lot cooler if you could walk up to it and hang out or even venture up to the top.

Always enjoy my afternoon walks through the Boom Island park. Starting from the Boom Island Light House and following the trail across the Nicollet - Boom Island Bridge which the trail funnels you back Riverplace. Boom Island is open with full sun. You can find shade once you get to the east side of the park. A surface lot is available for parking for a fee. A boat launch is also accessible to the Mississippi river. Enjoy your time at Boom Island.

The Boom Island Lighthouse is not accessible by land (any longer, the walk bridge was removed due to vandalism) the island is actually part of Halls Park. Boom Island doesn't have an island.

Look for this lighthouse if you rented Kayaks through Paddle Share. There will be an employee waiting for you that will assist you with your gear once you have finished. Highly recommend Paddle Share. This was my first time doing it and it was quick and easy and a nice, leisurely paddle with some nice skyline views of Minneapolis.

Fun to look at and photograph the Boom Island Lighthouse while walking along the Mississippi River or enjoying Boom Island Park.

Nice walking trails, trees scattered throughout, lots of benches to sit and relax at, a couple picnic shelters, a nice open field, and a play ground make up this nice little park along the river. This park also boasts a wonderful view of the Minneapolis city skyline.

This was really cool to check out, I just wish that there was a way to access it by land, to check it out, but at the same time I understand why it's not.
