Nice park for what it is. Has a track, synthetic grass field (often used for team sports), and not much else. Wish there were more trees, but it definitely serves the local community well

Beautiful ! Acquired by Parks more than 100 years ago, Chelsea Park remains one of the most popular and widely used parks in lower Manhattan since 1910. The park has sports fields, basketball and handball courts, a children's playground and space for sitting.

Great park. Good playground. Benches for the adults. Basketball court was being torn up (repair?) in october 2022.

Only went to the running track and field. The park and surrounding area has a bunch of hobos and crackheads. They would wander onto the field too. The track is small, 960 meters per lap, not made of rubber, only 3 lanes, plus no markers for sprinting, had to approximate. The field is dirty. Oh yeah and the restroom is out of order haha...I guess the only good thing about it is the city part of it. I will not be coming back just to run anymore dough.

Chelsea park hS been renovTed over the years. It has a spacious baskeball court area, benches to sit, there is a workout station with chin up bars, stomach crunching seat and more. Across from yhat is a great playground for younger children, and a track for the runners. During the warmer months the trees give great shade in numerous areas.

Chelsea park is where I go to walk my friends dog, Leo. The park is adjacent to a Health center( I think) and it includes a mini workout station for pull ups, weight lifting(bring your own) , a two basketball net area where you could play two separate games or full court, and continuing in the westward direction next to the court are like picnic two seater tables adjacent to the gated hand ball court turned dog park area. On the opposite side of the courts are benches and the really nice childrens playground with great equipment for them to run, jump and climb on. 😀

Have parked my car around here several times on weekends when going to see a play. Walked the High Line for a short before continuing the one mile walk to Times Square. Free is good!

I was here to do a community sponsored event in which I participated in taking the blood pressure readings and Advising members in the community about their health needs and medication. This event also housed different health insurance companies that would help those in need who did not have coverage. There were also different shelters that came with food trucks as well as items for the members and Community with simple things like socks, diet and other information as needed.

Was a great place to pause during our visit. Sit, chat, watch people working out and enjoy the sports activities going on. Cool guy selling flowers was chatting with 2 of my family members.

A few rough patches on the turf and track but overall not the worse place when you want to get some agility work in. Bring the team over here to get some quality work.

It's one of the few urban track and field facilities we have in Manhattan. One may find lacrosse and soccer here. Also a running track with several lanes. Numerous handball courts and a freehand bodyweight workout area. The grassy area will suffice for any stretches. So cardio, strength and flexibility all get covered. There are working water fountains. A children's bathing fountain adults can post workout cool off in, too. A restroom 🚻 that has a tricky schedule and is hence unreliable. There are several nearby commercial as well as a Parks Dept gym to complement this park with resistance training, swimming, showers, etc. It's a hidden community gem.

Could be an ideal place for schools to bring Their different athletic teams to enjoy a day of competition as there is plenty of good space to have races on the track, and baseball and soccer games on the beautiful green fields that have been renovated, but, oh, so sad to see that the park has become a place for the homeless who stay in the park 24/7, I would not ever ever allow My Children to go near it. The park and its surrounding areas are not safe.

The turf here is very messy, bathrooms are marginally usable due to flies and a lot of people bring their dogs. The playground is a little rough from the older kids being rambunctious and no one keeps an eye on the doors remaining open.

Fun park! We just happened by and my kids wanted to play. There was already a large group of kids there having a great time playing nicely with each other. After a few minutes, they kindly added my kids into their play, which was lovely to see. More adults should act this way. I wish we could have stayed longer, but it was getting late for us and we had to catch a train back home to Long Island. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because there were rats running through the garden that borders the park and a woman sleeping in the park (though not where the children were playing).
