My daughter wanted to try a new place for ice skating.. so we ended up taking the 45 minute drive out to this place. Upon arrival it was already hard to find parking so I could only imagine what inside looked like. When we walked in, it was extremely busy just as I expected! On top of that it was definitely hard to find what and which line to check in at. The lines were all over the place. You had the birthday check in line, the hockey line, the main rink line which was for us as general admission($14 G.A/ rental skates per person). There are a few side benches to sit but easily to lose your spot if gone for a second or if you don't mind standing. The DJ played out the same song's more of the late 80's, 90's mix plus kid friendly song's. The bathrooms were unsanitary and no paper towels in the women's restroom. I would think they would have staff to check in/out from time to time being that this place is so busy. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and everyone had fun for hour's. FYI, make sure to check online on their website for public skating date's and times

My expectations were blown away. I though there would be a rink with some people skating. What I found was multiple rinks with games being played, free skate and personal training going on. All at the same time and different rinks! Then, I saw the upstairs! This area is in the middle of 2 large rinks and you can watch what’s going on down below. Arcade machines. Bar with full on food. I didn’t try the food, I was there for the ice experience and boy did it deliver. There even a hockey shop if you need gear. AND there was a birthday party going on. All of this at noon on a Sunday. Mind blown.

We went for Christmas and skating with Santa. I grew up playing hockey in the north and this has to be one of the nicest rinks I’ve been to. The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating during these COVID 19 times. It’s great to have a safe fun activity to do with the kids in the winter. The Santa and Mrs. Claus did a great job and all the events that day were really great including the free face painting and “snow”. Kids had a great time and we will be back. Wish we were closer to the rink. We are looking in that area so we might just move to be closer for the boys to start hockey. Thank you to the manager who made sure everything was on point. The employees were great!

7-10-23: There have been some welcomed changes at Extreme Ice. Hockey Adult League management made some changes to Men's League teams, which placed the highest scoring/performing teams into next level competition teams👍🏼 The Tavern has a new manager, Adam, who is doing a great job of offering rotating food and beverage specials. Still loving the delicious regular menu items---wings, chicken tenders, fries (krinkle cut or fresh cut breaded), hand-held sandwiches. Continue to see The Puddle (small rink) rented for private parties or private skating practices. Continue to see hockey clubs holding championship games. Lots of unique activities scheduled for public skate nights. The Arcade is seeing some action. The ADA compliant elevator is up and running to provide assistance for patrons to gain access to the upstairs viewing areas, The Tavern and The Arcade. 8-5-22: We continue to enjoy watching our son play hockey in the adult men's leagues at XI. The Center Ice Tavern, under new management by Rich, has really taken the Center IceTavern to a whole new level. Daily food and beverage specials reflect the gastronomical preferences of the players and local regulars. Rich, Adam, Anthony and the entire staff strive to make your Tavern experience a great one. The Tavern has a variety of menu options for adults and kids. There is a variety of soft drinks, beers (bottles, cans, draft), wine, seltzers, and a full bar. Check the website for the Center Ice Tavern menu for in-person dining or carryout. If you're at XI for public skate, go upstairs and check it out. 2 yrs ago: Really great hockey venue! 2 full size rinks and "the puddle" (small rink available to rent for private events). Frequently visit to watch the Beer League games (fan of The Ogilthorpes). This weekend we came to experience the State Championship games. AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! We also enjoyed the great food and beverage selections in the Center Ice Tavern. XI is implementing and practicing safe pandemic protocols 😷

Great facility for ice skating and ice hockey. Ice skating rink is well maintained. Good option for organizing kid’s birthday party here. The tavern inside is cool place too. Ice hockey area is great. Rates are good. You can rent the skating equipment

This is a great place to skate with many options. I would highly recommend getting your own skates for the public skating as the rentals are pretty tough to use, have dull blades, and spliced laces. The cost is average for the area and they are not afraid of loading the rink with lots of people dispite the current times and sensitivities to illnesses. The staff is very nice and easy to work with. The snack bar is okay and the upstairs bar is better.

This was our first time here. We were there for free hockey day with our kids. The staff and the players were really nice. And the players encouraged the kids which helped them have even more fun. We really enjoyed ourselves and will return.

This was a great first time experience here at Extreme Ice Center of Indian Trail! We had four of us in our party at different skill sets on the ice, and everyone had a blast. We loved how nice the building looked all.lot up at night coming in off of Route 74. It is well organized and maintained, and everyone there was friendly. Definitely a repeat trip and a recommend if you want to try a ⛸ Skating Center near Charlotte, this is the one!

Great experience ice skating here. Great service and affordable prices. For unlimited skating and skate rentals the cost is $18 per person. You can also get a monthly membership for truly unlimited skating for a month. The staff provided me 3 exchanges for my ice skates since I was trying to find the right fit of the rental skates. They also rent out plastic skating walkers to help the beginner skater have a fun time. They have multiple ice skating rinks here. We saw kids having a birthday party at one of the rinks. A lucky kid also got to ride the Zamboni when they smoothed out the rink. They have a restaurant at this location as well.

Nice rink watched the USPHL playoff games here. Rinks are chilly but not terrible a light jacket is all you need with a long sleeve shirt. Parking is not great it's a good size lot but when there is a full event it's jammed. They do have a coffee shop inside not always open, has snacks and drinks to watch the game. There is a full bar upstairs with viewing on either of the 2 rinks. Pretty clean place to watch hockey or enjoy a skate with your family.

My daughter and her friend had a good time. The skates "aid" were very helpful 👍⛸️ and no one got injured. Bring long socks and gloves to stay warm

XIC is a top notch facility. QCR Youth hockey program is like a family and provides the kids an opportunity to grow as an athlete and a person. Great coaching staff that truly cares about the kids. Plenty of adult hockey leagues to choose from as well. Figure skating program is/was excellent also. My daughter hasn’t been involved in a few years but there are quite a few very capable coaches I know personally. It’s a home away from home for our family.

Cool place! Went here for my sister's bday with her friends to ice skate. I didn't par take but they have a cool restaurant and bar upstairs with a nice view of the ice. Drinks were good and so was the food for being in an ice skating rink! Service was great and the place had a good dj too 🙌🏼

  • 5/5 Dr Luke M. 1 year ago on Google
The program for hockey (QCR) has advanced leaps and bounds. My son's hockey development have been tremendous. Brendan Logan and team have a vast knowledge of the game and how to train kids to be petter players. The facility is first rate and one of the best in the southeast. Great for a skating date night for the open skate sessions.

Really cool bar area. Staff was super helpful during the last visit. Ice quality is OK. Hockey skate rentals have toe picks. Kind of annoying.

Such a great place to take the whole family. The tavern has delicious food and the hockey program has been our home for many years. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

  • 5/5 Tyler M. 10 months ago on Google
I grew up playing hockey at this rink so it will always be top of my list. This rink by far the is best two sheet facility in the South. From the ice to the pro shop to the bar/restaurant upstairs, everything is top notch. Plenty of seating for games and things to keep everyone busy in between games. Come by and check it out yourself and even learn how to ice skate.

Can't say enough good things about extreme ice center. We've enjoyed ice skating as a family but often places are inaccessible or just too expensive to be able to go. Extreme Ice has fantastic prices for public skating for this area as well as for their classes and coaching. This last Christmas family received a gift of some skating lessons from Coach Tappie! This turned out to be a godsend. Not only is she an abundance of wisdom and experience but is apparently the exact person for lessons for special needs kiddos and skaters with physical disabilities or challenges. We have a connective tissue disorder among other things and her work with the kiddos was perfect for what they needed. Help to protect their joints, teach them safe ways to be able to fall and use their bodies on the ice that wouldn't cause damage, gave time for breaks when they were needed. It was a wonderful couple of days spent with her and I'd highly recommend her coaching. On top of that she helped get the kids into the Adaptive Skate Program so that they can now go enjoy the ice more often! Thank you so much Extreme Ice center. See you again soon.

They were super busy when we visited, but staff were friendly and we had a great skate. If you're willing and able to stay a long time you really can get your money's worth, but you pay for entry during public skate, so a short visit is not a great bargain. They do a good job of keeping music playing and smoothing the ice only as much as necessary to keep it comfortable so you get mad skating time. They also have scooter / walker-type things for new skaters, and a restaurant for snacks, food, and drinks (just check the hours).

Great place to go with family and kids. They resurface the ice every our during public. Definitely recommended

  • 5/5 Jessy R. 3 years ago on Google
The place is amazing! It's huge, the staff is really nice and there's always someone in the rink to check if everyone is ok. It's not expensive. Actually, I think the price is more than fair and the experience is just perfect! I always go there with my six years old sister and I see many kids having fun there!

Staff was very pleasant today and helpful! If you are trying to stay say safe during these trying times this is definitely not the place to go. Largest/tightest packed crowd I’ve seen in months and I’m a college student! People eating food in the walkway and others with masks half off, overall nice place, just not safe.
