Cafe Zack is a Ventura must! This cozy little restaurant is tucked on the edge of Downtown/Midtown. I’ve taken my wife here twice and both times we’ve been super impressed! The food is really good. We haven’t had anything that I wouldn’t recommend. I highly recommend the steak. They are tender and great quality. Make sure to try an appetizer as well. For seating options you have a few. You can sit inside, on the patio, or in the back. Both times we went it was cold (Ventura cold) outside. We sat outside the first time, due to the pandemic, and in the patio the second time. We both said it would have been great to come in the summer and sit outside. Enjoy!

Cozy, quiet Cafe Zack is a great place for intimate lunches or dinners with a little bit of a European feel. The food was definitely above average, all meals served were visually and tastefully attractive. Wait staff and employees and accommodating and friendly. Good place to eat in Ventura.

First time here. We were pleasantly surprised by just how delicious the food was! We split a Tuscany salad. Then my wife had the Flat Iron Steak with Aglio Olio Pasta. The steak was very tasty and cooked to her liking. I had the Filet Mignon with Porcini Mushroom sauce. It was very flavorful. Even the roasted potatoes were delicious. For dessert we shared the baked apple tart. Also very good. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Cafe Zack has been our family's favorite for over two decades. We can always depend on their amazing menu (best filet mignon in Ventura County!), great wine list, and friendly service. Whether it's a special date night with your love, or a big family dinner, they can accommodate your needs. Most recently, we celebrated our son's recent engagement - We asked him where they wanted to go for their special dinner and of course he said, "Cafe Zack!" since he's been coming here since he was a baby. 💜

Absolutely the best food EVER!!! And we've been to many high end places. We enjoyed the steak cooked to PERFECTION! The pasta with a hint of heat..the caesar salad and the cream corn crab soup. Still thinking about it this morning!! The service was amazing! We never waited for service or attention. INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate the life of my dear Suzy Q. This was her favorite restaurant and we had her favorite wine and pear pie. Excellent place to dine and remember good friends with great food and service. Thanks Hector

We love Cafe Zack! Both the food and service and wine list are just wonderful. It's a fairly small place so consider making reservations.They also do takeout.

Absolutely sublime experience. Just perfection from start to finish. These folks know how to host. Possibly the best service my family and I have ever received. And the food? Divine. The items we ordered were clearly designed with thoughtful balance of flavor, and moreover with perfectly executed presentation. And to top it off, the wine was just lovely. Definitely a new favorite and a spot we’ll be sure to visit again and again.

It’s not about quantity but about quality and that was my impression in regards to their menu. Cafe Zack is a hidden gem in Ventura, it is a quaint place for lunch or dinner, super friendly and warm staff who gave us the right amount of attention and space for us to dine and converse with one another. I ordered the pasta dish and basically inhaled it (hahahaha) it was so delicious ! I can’t wait to come back and try their wines and dinner menu !

The atmosphere is dated and lacks comfort in a variety of ways. All the photos of the food above have the exact same side of vegetables and they even lack seasoning; there is zero imagination or innovation on the menu and the execution is is just enough to get by. Their website is down so you can’t look at the menu. We were looking forward to trying the lobster appetizer and it left a lot to be desired seeing as how it was canned dark yellow corn. VERY disappointing. They fit the 2 person tables into the leftover room in the restaurant. By that I mean that they put large parties (8 people on one side that night) on the ends while smashing 2 small tables between them and it’s just flat out NOISY. We were out for my birthday and could not wait to leave. It would have been worth asking for our money back it was all sooooo bad. It’s not personal but it is unforgivable. Not even worth a free meal

Cafe Zack was excellent. Service was fantastic. The indoor area was small but intimate. I sat on the patio, which had fewer people and is a nice space for dining. The food was excellent. I had a mussel appetizer and a salad as I was not very hungry. It was delicious and was appropriate for my appetite.

Went to a wine pairing dinner. Purchased a case of wine but when we returned to town they no longer had the wine for us. After numerous visits and several ‘we’ll call you back’ responses (without actually calling us back) we just gave up. Food was good but being out $200 wasn’t worth more visits from us. Lesson learned.

Completely unassuming place with excellent fare. The Zach pie was to melt away for! Even the vanilla ice cream is soo good, that it speaks for how well they pay attention to the details!

My husband and I had dessert and drinks here. The food was delicious- apple dumplings and creme brûlée- and the staff was very attentive and welcoming.

We celebrated my birthday with dinner at Cafe Zack on the patio. All in our family of 11 agreed that it was a perfect dinner. Excellent quality food served perfectly by friendly competent staff including Hector’s personal touch. It was the best. Some family members flew down from San Francisco and said that Cafe Zack is a credit to Ventura. We give it 5++ stars.

Wow this place is 5 stars all around. We found it by chance while passing by Ventura on a motorcycle trip down South. The food is incredible. Staff is super friendly and polite. We had some soup and salad to begin, which were both amazing. I ordered the curry seafood fettuccine. It was the first time I had curry sauce with seafood pasta and I'm glad I did. The owner stopped by to chat with us and shaed his amazing life story. People work hard here and they have a great team. Give this place a try.

Disappointing experience, they charged me double and when I referred to their menu on Google they told me that their profile on Google is not updated. Sounded weird to me, I paid and it was my last time dining with them. So, confirm with them about prices before you order or you will end up with a lofty bill.

Our food was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. That can be a challenge with a dish like fish where the ingredients cook at different times. The service was wonderful, welcoming, and personal. We'll definitely be back!

Incredible food and service. We loved the lamb, pork chop, and salads. Also, they have a nice wine list. I highly recommend this place if you are look for some wonderful local nice cafe dining.

I went to get take out of the halibut fish tacos special today. These are the best local fish tacos around, so fresh. They have a new socially distanced outdoor seating patio in the back that they have been working on for months, so I ended up sitting in the sun under an umbrella and enjoying the palm trees and the food. Thanks so much!
