The food is still consistently good and the prices have remained stable. It is definitely worth the 40 minute drive to get a bowl of delicious noodles and sushi! The specials are a great value.

udpate: have been coming here for 7 years now. time flies. I'm only worried that the chef would retire soon. this is no question one of my favoriate resturant of all time. I built a home here, and honestly to me this is now part of home food memory. its too bad since the pandemic they don't open for dining anymore, but then again the wait was always very long but taking food out in no way diminished the quality of food at all. Best sushi spot for food price, and taste and quality. I have been to all sushi spots ran by Japanese owners, this has to to the best. Keep it up, I hope the owner never change!!

Excellent food. Best Japanese restaurant around. Be prepared for the wait if you don’t get there before they open for lunch. Place is small and cozy.

Update: but always always good quality of the food. Worth the wait! We arrived 20 minutes before its open in the afternoon, and a lot of people already waiting in line! Fish are very fresh, and highly recommend the sashimi rice. It's just too many people standing behind me waiting for seats while I was eating.

Simple menu. Excellent food. Rolls are smaller than some other places but still good. Try their grilled fish, curry rice, and other dishes, not just the sushi. So so good. Comfort food.

I'm thrilled to tell you about Ajishin, an outstanding Japanese restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a casual lunch or an elegant dinner. The decor is minimalist yet stylish, with wood accents and soft lighting that create a cozy and relaxing ambiance. When it comes to the food, Ajishin truly shines. Their sushi is some of the best you'll find anywhere, with fresh and perfectly prepared fish that melts in your mouth. If you're not a sushi lover, don't worry - the menu is extensive and features a wide variety of Japanese dishes that are equally delicious. From crispy tempura to savory udon, there's something for everyone. They also offer a fantastic selection of sake and Japanese beers to accompany your meal. One of the best things about Ajishin is the friendly and attentive service. The staff is always happy to help you navigate the menu and make recommendations, and they ensure that your dining experience is seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, Ajishin is a must-try restaurant for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine. With its combination of great food, soothing atmosphere and exceptional service, it's sure to leave you impressed and satisfied.

Great food and great service! I recommend the combo with udon and grilled fish! Even thought it’s take out only, they package the food meticulously so carry out is easy and your noodles don’t get soggy.

Very small place but great service. welcoming and courteous staff. food is scrumptious 😋😋 be prepared to wait in line before your turn. Update: They have closed their dining area since covid and last time I went there, just pre-ordered on the phone and picked up the food from the restaurant. Hands down still the best udon place in town. But I miss the old times, I really enjoyed my time there when I dined in 2020.

High quality ingredients and absolutely delicious food. The best japanese restaurant in southeast Michigan. The Udon, Sushi, Omakase, Soba and everything else I have tried there is absolutely amazing!

I lived in the area for over 20 years and this was my go to place for food sushi, nigiri and udon before I moved to Chicago. Every time I come back to the area this is a must visit for the freshness of the fish and the great udons. Most importantly the prices are very reasonable. I don't think they have changed prices in the past 10 years. It is small so come prepared for a wait during meal time.

I was surprised that the price remained no change, and I could see that Ajishin is trying hard for it. It must not be easy for them to do so. I have to say, for this price, Ajishin still provide the best quality they could. Ajishin is still the Japanese restaurant I prefer the most around.

If you’re looking for authentic quality Japanese food at a reasonable price then look no further. The staff prepares orders very fast, and is very kind as well, I’ve tried other sushi/Japanese restaurants in the area and none of them come close to the quality Ajishin brings to the table. I wish I could give them 100 stars!

Had to throw my tuna roll, my sashimi away.. tasted old, no tuna in in the Roll.. Was expecting more quality. I’m sorry but that’s what happened today, the soup was good.. but everything else was not there

Very traditional Dishes and quantities . Quality over quantity and the prices are so reasonable. Best traditional Japanese noodle house in metro Detroit.

Sad this place is takeout only but glad I was able to order. The udon and curry rice was onolicious

I ordered the Tetsugaku (Pork Curry), and was blown away by the flavor. I am a fan of curry, and had never tasted a Japanese curried dish. The Ohara noodle dish is quite tasty as well. I will definitely very returning soon!

I've been going here for nearly 10 years. The food is so delicious. I honestly think this is the best udon I've ever had, including when I lived in Japan. I am sad that we can't dine in anymore because it's relaxing to sit inside and enjoy the delicious food in the wonderful atmosphere. It did used to get crazy crowded though so I understand how take out can be better for them at this point. And even though you have to eat out of the take out boxes, the quality of the food is just as good.

We have been going here for a few years. Simple menu but excellent quality. Our new routine is to visit One World Market for Japanese groceries and then Ajishin for lunch to take home once a month. They are very close to each other and about a 40 minute drive from the eastern end of Ann Arbor. Its a pleasant drive if you avoid the freeways and follow the backroads.

If you need authentic Japanese foods with fare prices, I could recommend you guys. Just take out only.

I am definitely not an expert here, but the food was very good. Tried it based upon a co-worker's recommendation. Probably the best rolls I have had thus far. Also tried a Chirashi bowl which was excellent. Will definitely be back.
