This place is as French as can be when you're in Brooklyn. The ambience, the decor, the music, the bottles on display, the food and drink menu. I had the tartar, and it was great! Will come back if I'm in the area again!

Stopped in here for drinks and appetizers and sat at the bar. The lighting is low, music at a good level, & the service was great. The calamari was perfection, French fries were pretty basic for truffle fries. But overall this is a great spot for quick bite, a date night, or solo dinner/drinks.

A nice laid back restaurant. The food and cocktails were great. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. We went for late lunch and the service was a little slow, however we didn't complain as the ambience was nice. The outside tables are spaced out enough unlike the cluttered NYC places.

The best stuff on the menu is definitely the salads. The warm artichoke and the duck confit are standout. Otherwise, it's a pretty chill neighborhood bistro/diner with a good vibe, below-average bread and great outdoor space. As everyone else has mentioned the live music is a fantastic addition but it's got a lively energy regardless.

Cozy bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. My favorite part was the live band on Monday night - they were outstanding! I'll be back to listen to them and enjoy some food and drinks.

Nice French restaurant— we went for brunch and the drinks and food were tasty, but the food was a little on the cold side. Service was pretty good— everyone is friendly and polite. I think they were setting up for a really large group which distracted people a bit.

I'm a big fan of bar tabac! I live in the neighborhood nearby and whenever i'm in the area I make sure to stop by. everything on the menu is pretty classically french, not a "riff on a classic" so you know what you're getting into. the french onion soup, burger, niçoise, and frites were great. I love the jugs wine. on weekends they have live music which is a special treat! the staff is lovely and very french too.

Great place for French casual food & atmosphere. Went there 3+ times, got steak frites, charcuterie board once. Recommend! Wish they would serve fresh baguette instead of rye bread with certain dishes though.

This is my regular go-to spot for happy hour, brunch, French holidays, warm days, literally anything. They have great music, great food, great service. Recently, a friend of mine had a medical emergency while at the restaurant and they were absolutely incredible in taking care of her and making sure everything was OK. Can’t say enough good things about Bar Tabac. I’ve been a regular for 4 years and will continue to be as long as I live in Brooklyn

Delicious options for lunch! My choice lobster bisque with creme fraiche was superb. Lovely wait staff and comfy outdoor setting. Great thank experience.

I love this place. I have only been here for drinks but I made a point to come back. Love the little bar reminiscent of French tabacs (hence the name). Pleasant staff, charming barkeep, and highly recommend the Cobble Side cocktail- G&T with basil.

We ordered 2 spritzes in Happy Hour which was till 7pm. When we got the bill they had full priced them at $12/drink. The waiter said that Happy Hour was only till 6pm and they had not updated the menu which is behind the QR code on the table? Then why not update the menu and gift us the difference rather than misleading the price and making us pay full cost? The spritzes had no spritz, no bubbles and too much Aperol. Last time I looked a Spritz has bubbles. We ordered salads, which we under seasoned and mediocre. So nothing tasted great and misleading price list == 2/5. Nice terrace though and view on Smith. Cool vibe.

Drinks were way too expensive for having little to no amount of alcohol. Food was good, not great, but the prices fit the taste/portions. Live music and fun crowd was the best. We would go back and just get food!

If you happen to be in the Boerum Hill area I would stop by and grab the salmon burger. It was juicy, lemony and super fresh. The calamari was also very well done, crispy and the sauce that comes with it was tangy and mildly spicy. I was not the biggest fan of the charcuterie board we got. The meats were regular cuts of deli meat and a patee that was good but I have no idea what it was made from. I still ate it though- it’s an acquired taste. I wouldn’t recommend it but if you’re in need to grab something to share then that’s a good idea.

I ate at this restaurant and had a bad experience only to find out some of my friends had eaten there too and also hated it. There are very few vegan options, which is fine, except for the fact that our server didn’t seem to know what vegan meant and tried to recommend a salad with cheese on it to me. No one came to check up on us after our food was brought out and it took a while and some aggressive flagging just to get a side order of fries. This could’ve been because of plain old poor service but I have a personal theory that the French just don’t care about their guests.

Great ambiance and amazing live music. Seems like a blip of a Parisian restaurant in Brooklyn. Food isn’t bad, but is mediocre for what I’d expect from the prices.

Absolutely excellent. I cannot rave enough about the food here. The warm lentil salad was fantastic. The poached egg was perfect, the lentils, peppers, and bacon came together very well. The grilled chicken was delicious too! This place is a favorite of my partner's, and she loved her chicken sandwich. And the fried calamari was some of the best I have had outside Italy

Bar Tabac is so awesome! The staff here are so kind and the food is excellent! Go see them for brunch, order the avocado toast + a mimosa!

Service was terrible for a Sunday brunch with hardly any tables. I dont even know where to start. Or honestly care to. The stars are for the bartender from Alabama and straight forward food. The Dominican waitress took our order, dropped a black coffee with absolutely nothing else, no sugar or milk/cream, and didn’t come back to the table at all. Not once. Not a single time. The entire hour. Was on her phone instead. And said nothing when we left. The hostess, who barely knew right from her left, came to settle the bill. But I’m expected to tip 20%? Never again. Need new management that knows to explain their staff what good service is vite!

New favorite place hands down. The burger was SO good, Stella on draught, and the guy at the bar was the sweetest dude. Super Parisian and beautiful in there.

Went for Bastille Day. It was so busy and full but we still were seated in 15 minutes. Got the steak Frites. Staff was very kind and swift. Brunch at this spot is also great. Live music on the side walk and at night in the bar. it’s a great vibe in the neighborhood

Excellent experiences here and I’m writing this review after my 4th visit. Each time I thought it was excellent and each time has been ever better than the last. I have to say, the calamari is amazing. I don’t usually order calamari and am not a fan of the fried version generally, but their version was perfect - tender, not even the slightest bit of greasiness from being fried and amazing flavor and the accompanying sauce really complimented the calamari and did not mask any of the flavor at all. If I lived closer I would go all the time.

Had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Bar Tabac and had a wonderful time! We enjoyed great wine recommended by their sommelier, Pierre, who is very attentive and kind, and were able to cut my birthday cake there. As a group of 16 we were able to book the back lounge for a cozy private experience. 10/10

Went for brunch - simple restaurant inspired from French brasserie. No frills place that does the job and makes you feel in a true brasserie. Dishes were quite good, coffee was decent but nothing exceptional.

Absolutely sensational. First and foremost the food is exceptional. Great portion sizes. Really well made and tasted fresh. We had the croque monsieur and the Niçoise salad (the tuna was divine and seared to perfection). As if that’s not enough - live music, decently priced cocktails and a great ambience. Look forward to returning.

The food is not mediocre, the food is terrible. We ordered tuna tartare and calamari, and we wondered why calamari would breaded in curry. It killed all the taste. Tuna tartare was disgusting. 40 min later we both felt sick. We definitely got poisoned by the food. I usually don’t like strictly judging but when this happens I am sure that the owner must pay much more attention to the quality of the food.
