What an incredible experience, the chef was a doll and her crew was outstanding. Cute little shop in front. The dishes we made were delicious and easy to make. I will definitely be making these for my family.

Going to New Orleans school of cooking was a great experience and choice we made. Harriet was fun, creative, knowledgeable, engaging, and more during her demonstration class. The food was above and beyond what I expected. Definitely went back for seconds. I advise anyone coming to New Orleans to definitely sign up for either demonstration class or the cooking class you won't regret it.

What a fantastic experience! Ricardo & Michelle were the perfect hosts! Engaging and so hospitable! The food was delicious and the whole experience & information on New Orleans creole vs cajan awesome. Definitely worth a visit whilst here & I highly recommend!

This experience was so much fun I’ve been telling everyone I know to go book a class. I had the luxury of taking a class with Lynn as the teacher and she was absolutely amazing! I am so glad I decided to book this class on a whim and learn about rich Louisiana culture that I didn’t even know as a Louisiana native! I did the demo only class but still was such a vibe as we sampled every dish from the chef! The crab and corn bisque long with the pralines were my favorite! Can’t wait to replicate the dishes the next time I host. Book this experience! You won’t regret it!

I just returned from NOLA and I'm on the way to the grocery store. I'm going to "attempt" to recreated the gumbo that Harriett made in the class. I must say, it was one of the most delicious dishes I've had ever had. I'm convinced that part of what made it taste so good was the warmth, care and laughs shared by the class while it was being prepared. It was a great cooking lesson but just as much a lesson in history and culture. The entire experience was great and I'd truly recommend to anyone traveling to the area.

If you come to New Orleans this is a must! You get to learn a lot about the food and get that authenticity! The staff/chef was amazing, and of course the food was too! 10/10 recommend! One of our favorite things we did down here!

I took the class on a Mother's Day I didn't expect that much but I loved the class. Michael was the instructor and he was wonderful very down-to-earth. He prepared for the class 3 dishes they were all so good my whole table went back for 3rd. He gave us a history on New Orleans while preparing the food the other 2 guys made sure we had everything we needed very friendly and very helpful. After the class he showed us this seasoning that he used but he did not pressure anyone to buy anything he also signed autographs and if you had any questions after class he was willing to answer them. I definitely will be going back when I go back to New Orleans.

We had a great time learning the history of New Orleans and the many influences that contributed to such delicious culinary eats. We also got to take home the recipe we learned. Our chef was amazing. She shared her wonderful background with us and was a great story teller. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous. I can see why this is rated among the top activities in all of the US on TripAdvisor. For just over $40 each, my mother and I did the morning cooking demo, hosted by Pat who was just fabulous. She started with an explanation of the history of the area (that led to its unique food), infused with lots of warmth and humor. Then she showed us how to make a roux the right way (it should be a dark chocolatey brown!), gumbo, jambalaya, pralines, and bananas Foster - all of which we got to eat! Along with a biscuit to start. Add in pitchers of iced tea and water on the table, help yourself to a lemonade and coffee station, an optimal free bottled local amber beer with the food, and this is one of the most “great value for the money” activities we’ve done. Located right in the French quarter it’s easy to find and I would say this is a must do while you’re in New Orleans! Super great value when you consider, even though they called it tastings, we certainly didn’t need lunch afterwards! (So there’s a $50 value right there!). The store is also worth your time, spices, souvenirs, and tons of great cooking gadgets!

Chef Riccardo was awesome. The history lesson about the food is great. The recipe were easy to follow for anyone and the chef directed with anyone who needed assistance. Each dish was explained before the cooking. Wine and beer were available with "go-cups". If you want mixed drinks bring with you. The kitchen was set up nicely for the class. All new equipment and great space.

Took the large demo class and had a lot of fun. The instructor explained everything very well and was great about questions. If you come early you will need to stand in the gift shop area with no seating. The demo class itself has assigned seating at restaurant style round tables with sturdy, cushioned, armless chairs that comfortably hold a large body. The food is very good, but if you have food allergies or restrictions you will probably want to confer with NOSOC beforehand.

A wonderful experience with Chef Tom! The demonstration was very educational, not only in regards to tips and tricks when cooking traditional New Orleans dishes, but also the traditions and culture of New Orleans. All the dishes prepared were absolutely delicious!

This was absolutely an incredible experience and I would recommend it!!! We took a New Orleans School of cooking Demonstration class, Ms. Dianne was our class instructor and she was absolutely amazing, engaging, had a wonderful personality and did a great job providing instructions and took time to answer questions as well. She made Gumbo soup which was the best I tasted, since I tried some at a restaurant, it did not compare to hers. She also made Jambalaya and Pralines and gave us some great insights. Her and her staff was wonderful in service and serving us Jambalaya, Pralines and drinks was also provided. It is worth taking if you visit New Orleans in the French Quarter.

Just terrific! Pat was an incredible host and so very knowledgeable about all things New Orleans + food. Her crew was fantastic too. Not only was it a great cooking demo, we also got a fascinating history lesson AND perhaps most importantly got to eat all of the delicious delicacies. Can’t recommend highly enough for any visitor to NOLA. 10/10 would go again.

Great staff and a fun time learning and watching. Entertaining. Enjoyable. Memorable. Three dishes were made and the participants were able to rate each one. Delightful. Yep I’ll need to park across the street in a parking lot. Allow about three hours.

My husband and I came here and this was WITHOUT A DOUBT our favorite experience here in NOLA. We went in unsure of what to expect and left super full, with such a fun experience behind us. The chef who cooked for us was one of the original chefs when the school was created, so he had a wealth of knowledge about the history of both Louisiana and the food that is so well know known. We ended up ordering a bunch stuff to get it shipped back home. I will definitely be back!

We opted for the morning class. The food was so good. Even with it just being a demo I felt like I could replicate the recipe at home. The host was very knowledgable about food and LA. Perfect combination

We had a great time celebrating my wife’s birthday by cooking and eating a delicious meal. Our chef, Maria made the evening lots of fun! We cooked Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, BBQ Shrimp and Grits, and Bananas Foster Crepes. All of it was enjoyed with unlimited Beer and Wine and set to a great soundtrack. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy a New Orleans style meal check out New Orleans School of Cooking. As a bonus you get to keep the cool apron to use when recreating the meal when you get home!

My experience at the New Orleans School of Cooking with Chef Vivian was nothing short of extraordinary! If I could give 100 stars to Chef Viv, I absolutely would! I had the most amazing experience; one of the BEST I've ever had in my 23 years of living here. The food prepared during the session was nothing short of amazing. Not only did I savor every bite, but I also learned a tremendous amount. Chef Vivian's expertise and teaching style made the whole experience both enjoyable and educational. The hands-on approach of the class left me feeling totally accomplished and confident. It's rare to find an experience that combines such delicious food with an environment that encourages learning and participation. I highly recommend anyone interested in culinary arts or just looking for a fun and fulfilling experience to join a session at the New Orleans School of Cooking, especially under the guidance of Chef Vivian. It's an absolute gem in the heart of New Orleans. Thank you, Chef Vivian, and the entire team at the New Orleans School of Cooking, for an unforgettable experience that not only delighted my taste buds but also left me feeling more confident in the kitchen. I will be back with all my friends and family!

New Orleans has a ton of things to see and do, so it's difficult decide the best use of your time when you're only in town for 7 days. Well, I would highly recommend adding this experience to your list. The teachers are highly informative & entertaining, the food is delicious and the shop is full of excellent products that make wonderful souvenirs! My sisters and I had a fantastic time and will not only return, but will recommend to all my friends & family.

Superb! Waited 30+ years for this and it did not disappoint! Harriet is very knowledgeable about food and NOLA history; very personable and professional! Food was great. Will definitely do this again. Reasonable price for all we got.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. The demonstration class was informative about cooking techniques and local history. The most important thing to know is that you must have prepaid reservations. Definitely worth every penny and will included again on upcoming trips.

This was one of the most amazing experiences I have had in New Orleans! The Chef was so knowledgeable and kept the class engaged. We would recommend this over and over to anyone with or without cooking experience. By the end you really do feel like family! Thank You! 🧑‍🍳

FANTASTIC!!!! I did the 'demonstration class' and cannot recommend it enough!!! So enlightening!!! Great watching a professional chef prepare New Orleans food. You pick up so many little inside tricks and secrets from the teachers. It was a blast on top of it all!!! Worth every penny and the time I spent!!!! Something that you can take back home with you from your vacation!!! A memory I will have for a long time!

My first time in NO & we decided to do the GO Pass. The cooking class was one of the things to do on it and it didn’t disappoint! Vivienne was amazing & we could tell that she loves what she does ! I love that she is well traveled & has been working for them for so long. The food was amazing, it isn’t a full entree it’s more like appetizer servings but it’s great bc we didn’t get super full & had space for desert which was so easy to make & really good as well. Thanks so much to the entire staff!

Incredibly scrumptious meals with a great chef guiding the way. Chef Cindy gave us a culturally, socially, and historically fun experience that helped us understand not just how to craft such great meals but also provided great recommendations for cook books and restaurants. I enjoy multiple glasses of wine as we cooked gulf fish, crab, pecan rice, and bananas foster. I would definitely recommend this course. I can see myself returning to learn more and meet new people.

My demo class with NOLA School of Cooking was by far one of the best experiences I had during my trip. The food was incredible and I learned so much about the history of New Orleans. Definitely highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting NOLA.

Attending a cooking demo was very high on our list of things to do. I was pleased to find NOSOC it was very easy to book a ticket just a few days before the class. Once arriving you walk into their general store which has all sorts of cook books, seasonings and kitchen gadgets. They suggest you arrive 10 minutes before your class. Once the chef is ready she reads your name/party and you are welcomed to go in the classroom and take seat. They offer iced tea, water lemonade and beer as drinks. We were able to watch Chef Diane cook Gumbo, chicken creole and pralines. Chef is very good at what she does. She is masterful at keeping those pots going all while explaining every step and mixing in some NOLA history in there as well. Jimmy was a huge help! He set up, served the food, and assisted chef on what ever she needed. Overall my family and I had a great time and was very pleased with the experience, the food, the taste, and the service! Thanks for helping us make memories.

We had a blast with Chef T today! She was absolutely wonderful and regaled us with rich and enthusiastic stories of New Orleans history and Cajun cooking. For the price of the demonstration, you get to learn not only how to make the food but you get an amazing meal. It’s probably the best deal in the French Quarter. A+ 10/10

Highly, highly recommend! We've done this 4 times now, and it never gets old. The Chefs are always amazing and give unique insights to the history around New Orleans and the cooking styles. Menu options are always great, and they are VERY willing to please. We did this a couple of years ago with my sister and brother in-law. At the time my sister was vegan, and hesitant about participating. But they made sure she had great substitutions for a similar dish, while still being part of the whole group. We had the best time.

We ended my daughters birthday with one of her most therapeutic things to do - cooking. We were led by Chef Lynn Krieger, finalist on Favorite Chef with Carla Hall. We cooked Cajun gumbo, creole Jambalaya, and bananas foster. The day was enjoyably long touring the city but the night was fantastic! Chef Lynn is energetic, so very knowledgeable, and so personable. She gave us at home tips along the way, like not to cook tomatoes in cast iron. We learned, we laughed, and we thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on cooking class.

My favorite part of our visit to New Orleans was the demo class at NOLA School of Cooking. Gumbo Marie & Chuck were great. The food was tasty and the story telling left us wanting more. I definitely recommend doing a class here & going with an empty belly. They prepared so much food, we left stuffed. We saved the pecan pies for later. Glad we had a walking tour right after our class to walk some of it off.

  • 5/5 Molly C. 10 months ago on Google
We had so much fun at the Demo class with Chef Dianne! She made us gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines. All of it was AMAZING, specially, the gumbo was the best we had our entire trip. And it was fun to watch the cooking of all the dishes and learn some new techniques. Dianne also made the class very fun and interactive. Definitely recommend!

I took this class with my 11 daughter who is a aspiring chef. We made shrimp and cheese grits and I must admit I’ve been making grits wrong forever, added milk was definitely a great twist. We tried one of the dishes from the cook book and it was delicious, first time making red beans and rice and my family loved it. Eric was extremely professional and informative.

  • 5/5 Bernadette P. 9 months ago on Google
Tom was excellent! He offered tips to make variations of our menu, and suggestions to make the recipes more user friendly. The food he prepared was DELICIOUS, and I can’t wait to make it myself, and get my diploma! It was a wonderful afternoon. Trudy was very gracious and efficient. She added to the pleasure of our culinary experience!

If you like cooking, or food, or cooking and food, this was one of the most memorable and authentic experiences we had. We took the demonstration class, where chef Lynn and her assistant showed us how to make gumbo, rice and beans, pecan pie and pralines. How do we know she knows how to cook? Because we ate it all right there! In addition to teaching cooking, she gave brief history of the ingredients and foods. Next time we will take the class where you do the cooking yourself! You can buy branded or generic cooking products in the store, ranging from cooking utensils to books to spices and more. Highly recommend this place.

  • 5/5 Cyndi B. 2 years ago on Google
Outstanding, interesting and fun class experience! Great value, friendly staff and a great assortment of spices and cooking supplies! Renee did the Monday morning Demo class for us and he was quite the entertainer and chef! We got the recipes, beverages, and all the food we wanted to eat when the demonstration was over. We enjoyed Red beans and Rice, Chicken and sausage gumbo (Creole Gumbo), delicious pecan pie and easy to make and eat pralines! They have different menu’s everyday and also offer a hands on cooking class. Either class you choose is time and money very well spent! The three of us will go again every time we visit New Orleans!

  • 5/5 Taylor A. 2 years ago on Google
We were pointed to New Orleans School of Cooking by a friend and I am SO glad that we were! We signed up for the hands-on cooking class and it was phenomenal. Appetizer, main course, and dessert-- plus, wine! The chef cooked alongside us since one of the couples did not come and I feel we were better off for it! Everything turned out amazing and we left with the directions and the skills to recreate the meal when we arrived back home.

  • 5/5 Meredith W. 2 years ago on Google
We had a GREAT cooking class with Pat! She mixed her expansive knowledge of New Orleans history with her culinary talents to deliver a one of a kind experience. She shared many tips and tricks as well as her love and passion for this region and it’s cuisine. This is an exceptional value especially considering that you’ll leave with not only great memories but also a full (and very satisfied) belly. We will definitely come back next time we are in New Orleans.
